Surprise Mornings/Character Caravans? Was this discontinued? Talking to

another mother at softball practice and when they were at DW in 200l, they had these. She said it was one of the nicest perks of being in the resorts. However, I have never read about this. I assume they have discontinued this for budgetary or some other reasons. Please, advise. TIA

Surprise mornings has been replaced by Extra Magic Hours. I don't know about character caravans, I know I have seen characters in the hotels as recently as last December.

The character caravans were put in place to replace the early morning entry or surprise mornings after 9/11. But they did not last long, as there were many, many complaints as most people wanted the early entry.
Disney now has the Extra Magic hours now, which include entering one of the parks an hour early some mornings and 3 hours of late night entry to one of the parks.
