Alysa: What a wonderful shower. I love the little details such as the custom wrappers for the bottled waters. You will be carrying all the baby accouterments around in style with that Coach diaper bag!! How wonderfully extravagant! :thumbsup2

How exciting that you have less than a month to go!! You are a beautiful pregnant mama!! :goodvibes

Hi Brenda, thank you! :lovestruc I know, I love that bag. So lucky!

When we moved we got a home with five bedrooms but two are in the basement. We found that actually the walk in closet was quite a large one so we removed all the shelving and clothing bars and painted and added some trim. We call it the Harry Potter room because it is in the closet and it's got an Algonquin park theme.
I found a crib and some Pottery Barn Kids linens on-line. I hung a painting I did in Algonquin Park over the crib and we put up an old butterfly mobile of Toby's.

I got some frames from Ikea and I will eventually put in some photos of Robbie but for now I scanned and added some pictures of two of my favourite illustrators, E.H.Shepard and Beatrix Potter.

We've got a dresser and I picked up the changing pad and cover tonight. We bought a toy moose head for the wall and Toby has donated his bear named "Bear" of course. He has said he may need to take "Bear" back again but he'd let me know.

We added a standing lamp and a large mirror to make the room seem a little bigger and Eveie donated her rocking horse.

So I think we're ready. I hope, anyway. 26 Days. :scared:

The new nursery looks gorgeous! Robert is going to be one lucky baby when he makes his appearance. And I am sure that even without wearing black you would still make an absolutely beautiful pregnant woman. I think you look great!

I knew I liked you Rachel!
4 days away for you! You must be so excited! All packed and ready? And then your new job when you get back! Congrats!

Oh my gosh Alysa - you do look lovely...:goodvibes I just realized that your avatar is Snow White -You look like if Snow White was going to be a mama ... after she married Prince Charming (of Course)...

I love your shower things ... It looks like a Martha Stewart Shower ... and I mean that in the best way ...:thumbsup2 Or a Paper Source Shower ... Do you have those in Canada? They are awesome ... lovely, lovely stuff...

I think Robert's room is fabulous and cozy ... Harry Potter wished his room was that nicely appointed and certainly that his family was so loving...:lovestruc and there are plenty of adults living in NYC in rooms that size ... (if not smaller)

Yum... the cupcakes look lovely ... I might take you up on that pdf offer...;)

It looks like you had a wonderful baby shower! You looked beautiful in that picture! The decorations and the food looked really nice :goodvibes The baby’s room is too cute and I am loving the Little Mermaid cupcakes!

I'm here! Reading when I get a spare moment at work so I'm still only a few pages in. I  the Stormageddon shirt. It's very cool. :groom: I'll be back to read more later! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I know, I can't believe we leave on Friday! And yes, I am mostly packed. I started "soft" packing about a month ago and have been adding things here and there. Final packing is scheduled for tomorrow night, with just toiletries and makeup to be added on Friday morning!

I am super excited about the new job too, but having to have my current position pretty wrapped up and ready to go made the countdown to Disney a little more stressful than I was expecting. Luckily my boss found a replacement for me really quickly and has been really supportive of me moving to the new position. I really only have 1 more day of real "work" as most of Thursday will be spent training the new person. Then it's off to the world!

What a beautiful spread for the baby shower!! :thumbsup2

And you look amazing Alysa, you don't look swollen at all. We're about the same age and I know I wouldn't look as beautiful as you do preggers. :sad2:

Roberts room is BEAUTIFUL!! You have such a great eye for decor!! I wish I had you here to help me to come up with ideas for my house. :goodvibes

By the way....the Little Mermaid ideas were beyond adorable!! You are so talented!! I love how your mind works with creativity!!
If I ever need an idea, I know who to come to!! ::yes::

All caught up! I love all of your movie nights and the shower looks fantastic. Also love the baby's name. My husband, his dad and my dad are all Robert and its my son's middle name as well. :goodvibes

I am so very sorry about your mom. We lost my husband's dad to cancer last year and I know how truly awful it is. The words I usually use to describe cancer are not suitable for the dis. :(

So glad your dad is going with you. My kids always love having any of their grandparents along for a vacation and it creates some really sweet memories.

Thanks Patricia! You are sweet! I just went online to that Paper Source store. Curses! Why do they not have any stores in Florida, Buffalo or Canada?
I am in LOVE with their autumn wreath, the holly garland and I haven't even begun to explore their site yet. I am a sucker for cool art supplies. So fun!!!

Thank you for all your kind words. I've got the iron on transfers all set up to make the Stormy onsie!
Cancer does suck. My husband is a researcher and having lost his mum in March, I think the next time he hears that scientists have the cure for cancer and are just sitting on it for personal gain, he is actually going to pop someone!
I know what you mean about the good memories. We have these photos of my Dad with Toby in the bathtub in their swimsuits at our villa when it was too cold to swim outside on our last trip at Chriswtmas. I think it is in this video. They were SUCH goofs! Careful though - this video is a bit, well, I can't actually watch it yet without balling but that is because it was her last trip.

Hi Jenny! Thank you for your sweet note! I don't know if it was because things have been tough this summer but the shower really was one of the highlights of the year, it was so nice to see so many good old friends.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends!

Had a lovely day today. In the morning I went for a pedicure with my sister (her treat)! I haven't been able to touch my toes for about two months so it was GLORIOUS!

Then when I got home we did a double bill movie night, Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros. Eveie and I spent the evening yesterday getting the craft ready while the boys were at speed skating. We had lots of girly fun and made a piñata that she named Burrita. We researched the history of the piñata online and found out the donkey is in tribute to the one that carried Mary to Bethlehem. She was very, very solid and well made which suited Eveie just fine because she became very attached to that piñata. She only let her brother hit it three times tonight, then she whacked it down and didn't want to hit her anymore because she was so fond of her so we popped a hole in the bottom and pulled the candy out. The kids pronounced it their favourite movie night so far (because of the candy of course). :rolleyes2
IMG_7972.jpg

Burrita's head looks enormous in the photos, don't know why. :confused3

The recipe was for a South American style granola bar with quinoa and dark chocolate and dried fruit. We skipped the peanut butter and nuts and just used sunflower seeds but it was still really delicious.

Since I haven't been able to sleep for ages, tonight I was working on leaning how to blog and I set up a wordpress page. Still lots to figure out but it's fun learning!

Tomorrow Harold's dad is coming over for Thanksgiving so I have to get up bright and early to start baking. And I don't care if Harold prefers the sweet potato pie, I am still making my mum's famous pumpkin. Then on Monday it is off to my brother's for a huge family dinner for 13 (and a half).

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend. Hugs!

Oh, I hope you have a wonderful time with family and of course fabulous food. And happy Canadian Thanksgiving day to you!

Love that you were spoiled with a pedicure! They look very nice!

Burrita - what a great name! What a great activity for the kids and I'm sure the candy was only slightly influential with them voting it favorite themed nite yet.

Welcome to the blogging world! I used to blog more but haven't in so long.. I miss it. Your blog is wonderful and your creativity really is displayed in brilliant detail. :)

Have a great day Alysa!

I hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful. :goodvibes

That pinata is adorable- such a fun movie night! :thumbsup2

Love the kicked back relaxing pic of your pedicure. :)

You have me totally in the mood for a pedicure...:goodvibes

Does Canadian Thanksgiving have an iconic story to it like the Pilgrims and Native Americans? It sounds like you have some similar foods... like the pumpkin and sweet potato pies...

(The founding of North America ... Canada, the US and Mexico has so many overlaps in the beginning... Large land mass with lots of natural resources, Native peoples already here, European kings looking to expand particularly- England, France and Spain... traders, etc...)

I wish we had learned more Canadian History in school -we really should - but then again we (US ers ) should also be held to a higher standard in learning languages... but that's a whole other story...:rolleyes1 I was really glad to be able to have learned French (lol...at least enough to communicate in both France and Quebec...)

Hmmm... I was just comparing your Three Caballeros movie night and I think that yours was much more authentic and wholesome than mine... I might have to PM you for where you got those pinata instructions... David's
school has an International Club monitored by the language teacher... French & Spanish... who found out that I had previously made sugar skulls for Dios de los Muertos and wants to make them at school during club... and that pinata would be really cute to make at some point as well...

Will have to check out your word press page...:goodvibes

I am constantly in awe of your craft projects! Burrita is as cute as can be! I checked out your blog and it is so cool that you have a place to catalog all of these movie nights :goodvibes

Just checking in on you Alysa since you are so near your due date... within 2 weeks? I hope all is well and that precious little Robert makes his grand entrance soon. :goodvibes

Take care!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Your toes look great! Seriously cute picture in front of the fireplace, too! ::yes::

Sounds like your Caballeros night went really well! Cute crafts as always!! :goodvibes

Hope the Thanksgiving dinner went well, I'd love to have your pumpkin pie recipe if it's not too presumptuous to ask. :)
