Surprise, Honey! You're Taking Me to WDW! (6/10) Coming Soon, to a DISboard Near You!

Bill and I have been bouncing back and forth about doing Artist Point, what did you eat there?

I found it on the menu! (I'm fairly sure Ed had the Beef.)

Marinated Grilled Berkshire Pork Chop - with butternut squash ravioli, wild mushroom ragout, and roasted garlic demi-glaze

(Wow~ was that good!)

Grilled Beef Tenderloin - with roasted fingerling potatoes, sauteed baby spinach, blue cheese fritter and port wine reduction

VWL...love the Iron Spike Room and surrounding seating areas......great couples choice for sure.

Oh, the Villas at Wilderness Lodge look just lovely!!! I think that will be the perfect place to stay on your couples retreat! Just think how wonderful it would be to sit in the rocking chairs by the fireplace or to sit on the beach and watch the Electric Water Pageant. :lovestruc

I'm new to your TRs, but am excited for you - a couples trip -- it will be a TOTALLy different trip than what you're used to -- before kids, that is. ;)

I'm hoping it will all come together. I'm sure it will. :)

:goodvibes Oh, this report pulls at my heartstrings. I too have such a longing to get back to my Happy Place and like your family trip, will not happen until 2011. It seriously just breaks my heart. So I am really rooting for this couple's only trip for you two!!

It's so cozy!

Funny, I went back over my pix from that trip and these are the shots I took in the Iron Spike Room! I totally missed capturing the seating areas... perhaps they were in use at the time?

Walt loved trains. This is a model of the one he had running around the grounds of his home in California!

Jackie, would you believe that in all our trips we've never seen the Electric Water Pageant? I know!

It is definitely on my list...

Hello and :welcome:

WDW without the kids is truly A Whole New World! :genie:

(Wow! I've been wanting to use that smilie for the longest time and I finally found a reason!)

Hi Kelli! Thanks for the support! :grouphug:

I think that the warm, wonderful feelings that we associate with WDW are so addictive... I know it sounds corny but sometimes I really feel as though I am going through physical withdrawal and the only remedy is planning for the next trip!

A little lime green book is what you need, keep it in your sock drawer, a man would never look there ;)

love all the chatter...funny how excited we are over someone else's secret getaway!

Have you asked your sister to watch the kids?

Not yet... I'd rather do it in person and I'll see her Mother's Day. I'm sure that she will not mind, especially since I'm giving her five months notice! :rotfl2:

I love your resort choice! Perfect!! :cloud9:

Sara

Thanks, Sara! :flower3:

The Iron Spike Room is definitely on my list too! I love trains, and have toyed with the idea of the Steam Trains Tour- if only it weren't so dang early!

I completely agree.

Chapter 3: Help me choose my birthday dinner!

With any luck, we'll get into Orlando around dinnertime on Thursday. I plan on having us grab a CS dinner at the resort so we can save the TS credit for a signature dinner for my birthday the following night!

Fortunately, I was able to get ressies for two great TS restaurants: Artist Point and California Grill. Eventually I will have to choose between the two so I'd appreciate your input!

We'll be at the Magic Kingdom during the day and would need to come back to the resort to change anyway. Naturally, Artist Point is right there on property, so it would be the most convenient. However, a quick ferry ride will get us back to the MK and we can either walk or monorail it to the Contemporary.

I was able to get a 7:40 ADR for Cali Grill, which would mean that we would hopefully be able to see the MK fireworks sometime around dessert. Unfortunately, there's a MNSSHP that night, so it would be Hallowishes and not Wishes (or whatever nightly fireworks will be showing by then.) We've never eaten here before, so it would be exciting to try something new!

I was also able to get a 7:00 ADR for Artist Point. We have eaten here before and we loved it. I was hoping for a quiet, romantic dinner followed by a stroll down to the resort beach to view the Electric Water Pageant.

Both options are very attractive... but I feel guilty holding onto both ressies for too long, so I'd like to make a decision soon and free the one up for somebody else.

Any thoughts? This is a conspiracy, remember, so I need your input!

Personally I would pick Artist Point, you can go back to the resort freshen up and be right there, then you and go down to the beach like you said for the EWP. Then go back to the villa continue the romantic night, some wine, maybe some music, and whatever else :rolleyes1.

Love the resort choice. As for dinner, I have never been to either. I would go with what is more romantic and intimate.

Given that a birthday meal is something special, I'd go with Artist Point: First, you're staying at WL, so it's right there; second, you've eaten there before and you know that you will enjoy the food; third, as mrsk said, the convenience is conducive to some birthday romance. ;)

I've never eaten at either but would go with AP as well. Something about walking to dinner from your room....

A second vote for Artist Point!

:lovestruc :lovestruc So far, Artist Point is winning in the romance department...
