Help - I need ideas! We're going to WDW on a Land/Sea Vacation the week after Thanksgiving with my family - DH, DS4, DSis, Mom and Dad. DSis and I told my parents that their anniversary present this year would be a surprise on the trip....thought I was being so smart, however it really just proves that I know how to procrastinate. DSis does not have much money, so going extravagent like a Fireworks Cruise is out unless I want to pay for it myself, not likely considering I have my own family to pay for as well. My parents are 61 & 63, and like interesting experiences. I was thinking of a tour - does anyone have any other ideas?

Well, it was kinda expensive, but to suprise my parents on the last trip I bought enough points from a DVC member to allow them to stay at the Boardwalk on the last night of our trip, and I made them a ADR (using our DDP) there to eat alone after a week with my family. My parents had always wanted to stay there, but since we always go as a group it is just way out of the question. We just kept their room at POP, as we didnt want them to find out early and didnt want it to affect the DDP, but since my bro was along he just got that room to himself for the evening.

Do something personal...

Is there a way that you can get a scrapbook created using some old photographs? Now you can get photos reprinted and have the originals back before anyone notices...

We had a silver plate created with my DH's parent's wedding photo in the middle and they loved it!

Another idea...would be to create a video documenting their life together...You could plan a movie night, complete with popcorn, and pop that in for a great surprise!

I don't know what type of resources you have available, so I thought I would just throw that out there...:goodvibes

But I would definitely look for something personal and unique...you can to something like that at a low cost...and the memories really are priceless!

Good luck...

I don't know if this fits in your budget, but how about the Segwey Around the World Tour at Epcot? It's $85 pp, and you must have a regular ticket to get into Epcot. It's two hours in the morning, before the World Showcase opens to the public.

We're going in April, and I booked the tour for my parents. They will be doing the tour while the kids and I race around getting fast passes for Test Track!

Forgot to add: On our last vacation, we booked a "spa package" for my MIL at the Grand Floridian. Just another idea.

Here are some ideas:

* Buy them dinner for the Candlelight Processional package. The Candlelight Processional is very beautiful, and the dinner package gets them priority seating w/out waiting forever in line.

* Tickets to MVMCP

* The Segway tour sounds fun, as well as couples massage at a spa

* Tickets to Pleasure Island to dance the night away

* Fancy, schmancy dinner at Victoria and Alberts or California Grill (timed for dessert w/fireworks, of course)

* I love pp's ideas regarding the photos. The scrapbook, having photos scanned to disc so they are preserved and can be easily viewed, enlarge/retouch wedding photo are so thoughtful and probably something the parents wouldn't do for themselves.

Do you have ADRs planned for the Land portion?

HOw about personalized menus (and possibly a diver) at the Coral Reef in Epcot?

the fireworks cruise was AWESOME!!
we had 10 people & it was a flat rate & my dad said he would NEVER see the fireworks any other way!! it was worth it BIG TIME...even the kids LOVED it(i have a pic)

have you thought about a cake at dinner??(we did this, i have a pic)

the coral reef diver & menu is awesome...i did that for my hubby in December(i hav a pic if you wanna see)

make them FUN tshirts to wear...i also made personalized backpacks & laynards & you could but on them the anniversary info!!

when you check in...tell the CM & ask them to send balloons & a signed card from minnie & mickey to thier room (it WAS free)(i have a pic)

get the anniversary buttons

behind the seeds tour is fun & not expensive!!

if you get photopass...they might still have the GF shoot going on & you can get it for them??( i can post a pic or 2)

im sure there is more but im drawing a blank right now

You are all so creative - I'm keeping a list of all the great ideas here. I had completely forgotten about getting them a cake (Coral Reef is out....everyone wants to go to a restaurant we haven't tried yet...). DH & I did a fireworks cruise last time, and LOVED it, but we're under severe time constraints and I'm not sure we are going to fit it in. I really like the Segway tour idea - that is right up my parents' alley! Thanks for all the great suggestions so far!
