Surprise Fastpasses

I have been out of the loop for a few weeks, and now I am reading reports of surprise fastpasses being dispensed--some for rides that don't even have FP. Can someone explain these to me? TIA for bringing me up to speed. :)

I dunno about DL, but there have been a few times I had gotten Philharmagic FPs at Winnie The Pooh. Kind of worthless since Philharmagic never has a queue, but still nice to see!

I still got the Winnie The Pooh passes, but out came Philharmagic passes as well.

When we were there, we got a handful of suprise FPs for Mad T Party Arcade. It was basically a voucher for a token. I've seen pictures on Mouse Wait of people getting them for GRR and Screamin'

Basically when you get a FP, the suprise one is attached. Only saw this in DCA though.

When you get a Radiator Spring Racer Fastpass in Cal Adventure, before they run out when they print out RSR fastpasses you often get an additional Suprise Fastpass for Grizzly River or Soaring.

I think they sometimes are a huge bonus (like GRR or CS) and sometimes are just to get people to head towards different areas of the park. I am also curious if there is any rhyme or reason to when they are distributed.

I was in a walk on line for Little Mermaid - and CMs were telling people who were turning in these surprise fastpasses for it that they didn't need to - they could just ride - but these guests still wanted to come in through the exit and turn in the fastpasses - so sure enough after trying to explain they weren't needed and could be saved until later in the day twice, the CM took them and let the family on the ride :rotfl:

It sounds like the variety of these passes is very limited, but they could definitely come in handy. It is enough of a perk to get me into the FP line.

Thanks for the pic.:thumbsup2

They have used these as advertising and to move crowds around for at least a year in DCA. The GRR ones sure come in handy in Summer.

I love Fastpass!

I got a surprise FP to Ariel’s Undersea Adventures along with my RSR FP. We went straight to Ariel’s Undersea Adventures and there was no wait, so we rode it and came back later in the day and rode it again, my sister is a HUGE Ariel fan, I'm still sorta deaf from all her screaming :).

When I was getting 9 fast passes for RSR I received two for GRR also. The CM helping me was surprised that two came out so close together.:thumbsup2

I know my friend got one for a token at Flynn's Arcade back in the days of ElecTRONica. That worked out very well for us because she wasn't so interested in going, but a free token is a free token, and I wanted to go, so.... :) I have a vague memory of getting an invite to see Captain EO from Space Mountain's FP machine, too, but I may be remembering that wrong. (I don't THINK it said "fastpass" on it, and granted, one would not be necessary, like Jkpark's Little Mermaid story... :confused3 )

Anyway, I've heard of surprise FPs before but they sure seem to be in force at DCA, from what I've been reading here and in other threads.

Actually, I got a Captain EO "FP" too.

OK, that one just seems mean. A FP for one person in your party? For an attraction that it never helps you get in any faster? :confused3:confused3:confused3

Maybe if you came back before 8:50 they'd have the movie queued up and waiting for you since there's no one there? :lmao: Or maybe they'd just let you pick your seats first?

We got a bonus FP for Grizzly River Run when we got out RSP FP today. One was for six people so we made a lot people happy giving out the six we didn't need :)

When we got our RSR FP, we each got a CS FP as our Surprise FP. That was a nice unexpected treat!

On Wednesday I received two for GRR with the four I was getting for RSR. I was shocked we received two. Used one midday when the wait was 80 minutes and we were on the ride in about 5 minutes. We were going to go again at night but had too many to use over at DL as it was our last night and we were doing our "one last time" ride tour through the park.

On our recent trip we did not get any bonus FP's, just the advertisement FP for the APEE.

sad... but I didn't expect it, would have been nice though.
