As luck would have it, they were running behind on reservations and we were not seated until 7:45.
We finished our meal around 8:55 and exited the restaurant, hoping to go out the back of the castle and watch the fireworks from Fantasyland. To our surprise, the CMs had closed both of the exits to the castle and several people were stuck within the castle. I thought, "Bummer. Guess we will have to wait until the fireworks are over to leave." Then, the CM opened the rope out of the front of the castle and told us to go down to the bottom of the ramp to watch the fireworks.
As we walked out of the castle, about two minutes before the fireworks began, I felt like a queen emerging to greet her people. There were people everywhere, with all eyes on the castle. We walked down the walkway and the CM at the bottom let us behind the rope, with a front row seat for Wishes. Tinkerbell flew out of the castle directly over our heads, and Wishes began. I have never seen Wishes from such a great location.
Now I get that this probably seemed unfair to others who had been there for probably an hour to get a good seat, but at that point, there was no way to get through the crowd or go anywhere. We sat down so as not to block the views of those behind us.
When the show was over, I told the CM at the rope that I had never heard of this particular benefit of eating at CRT. She said that the CM in the castle was not supposed to have let us through "tonight."
Does that mean that there are some times when people are let through to see the fireworks and other times when they are not?
How do people normally exit the castle when they leave CRT just before the fireworks?
