Surial Baths

On our 8/23 cruise, there was no mud. The sea salt had been replaced by coconut flakes and there were a couple of different lotions to be used after the coconut. As someone has already pointed out, after the treatment there were about 12 different bottles of lotions, creams and sprays but no indication of what they were for. And yep, that shower was mighty cold in the beginning.

This was first time during Surial. We had done a similar treatment called Rasual on three different Celebrity cruises...each one slightly different, but all fun. Without the mud, it was nothing more than an expensive steam bath.

We did the surial last December after hearing so much about it on this board. We loved it! There were 3 different muds, some exfoliating cream, lots of difference moisturizers and lots of oils. We took full advantage! We tried everything and had so much fun doing it. The steam was perfect (hot, but we like it hot!) the shower was great and the romance... was even better. I agree with the person who said that she doesn't get a lot of alone time with her husband and that this was the best part. I agree. We had a chance to spend an entire hour just the two of us, enjoying each other.

Because of this board, I knew what to expect. We brought extra towels (we didn't actually need them, as the room was full of towels) and my husband brought his water-proof watch... so we knew exactly what time it was. I also knew that there was supposed to be mud, so I would have noticed during the "tour" of the room, if it was missing.

We are going again in November, and I will be first in line to sign up for the surial bath again. And if there is no mud... I will tell them before going in. If the water or steam don't work, I will send hubby out to tell them (hehe... DH gets all the lousy jobs!)

Yes, they did bug us about buying the product, but I used the old excuse "We are from Canada and the exchange rate is terrible! This $50 item you are trying to sell me is equal to $80 Canadian... there is no way I can afford that." She sadly nodded her head and said "I don't blame you... have a great day!"

Everyone should try it once!

I'm so glad we have these message boards so we can hear the good, the bad, and the ugly, about various elements of Disney World, and Disney cruises!!

I know DH would do the surial bath on our cruise next summer, but the thought of an ice cold shower is making ME not want to try this. We have older kids who go away for a couple of weeks each summer, so we can always buy our own muds and do this at home.

Now I'm wondering... Are there any other "couple" spa treatments available on the Disney ships?? Do they have a room where they could do side-by-side massages for couples, at the same time?

What's the general consensus on the Rainforest room? Most people enjoy this, or should we pass?? Do couples go there together and relax, or mainly by themselves??

They do have a couples massage where you can both share a room. You can also so this outdoors at Castaway Cay.

Also, if you know you won't be interested in buying anything afterwards, you can alway specify "no sales" when you book your appointment. We've always done that with great success...no pitch at the end to duck around when you're nice and relaxed. Unfortunately, my wife forgot to do it when she went back for a one hour cellulite treatment...she ended up paying for a one hour sales pitch that she couldn't wait to end!
