I had an appointment with the surgeon this morning and my surgery is scheduled for next Tuesday morning at 9:00am. He told me that my knee was getting worse the longer it went on so the sooner the better so I'm all set!

I'm a little nervous but I'm looking forward to being pain free. I'll have to be off work for a month afterwards so I'll be going pretty batty but at least my knee will be getting better.

I'm so ready to go!

Hi. and good luck. I am only 43 and also have a bad knee. I am waiting for an MRI. But last Friday I saw the Dr. He gave me a needle in the knee for pain.
WOW Sat. morning was the first morning since Nov.1 with no pain. He said I would probably need surgery but alls I say is WOW.for now. Now just to get rid of the back pain.

Wow! Best wishes to you! :) A month off, huh? Yikes. Maybe you could get a desk that you use in bed and you could get a lot of scrapping and swapping done! :) Please let us know how it all goes! :flower3: :cutie:

Glad to hear they are taking care of this sooner rather than later.. at least you'll have time and friends to talk to on the DIS! We'll help you pass the time with no problem!!!

Much better for it to be sooner.

We'll be here to keep you company!

Thanks all! I could go back sooner if it weren't for the fact that I work upstairs in a building with no elevator. I should be up and around part time within 2 days and then mostly out of bed within the next week. I just have to take the month off since it will take that long to get my knee into climbing stairs shape.

And yes, I look to you all to keep me company. I'll at least have some scrap time in there!

We will do ou best to keep you company online.

Here's hoping you have a speedy recovery.

I'm glad they got it scheduled for you!! I'll keep you in my prayers!

You know how good we are at keeping people company and passing time! Your month will fly by! :cool1:

I'm glad you're getting this taken care of.....living in pain is the pits (do people still say that, or am I just showing my old age?).

You'll have plenty of company on the boards:).

Yeah!!! Finally a surgery date! Don't worry we will help you pass the recovery time...

Pretty soon you will be

next Tuesday, headed to the calendar now. When will you be home? that night, the next day? When can we start callin' and pestering?

Thanks for keeping us in the loop- much pixie dust for a successful surgery and recovery!!! And yes, we look forward to you being on the DIS LOTS!!!

Thanks everyone!!!

Oh Debbie - that banana has me :lmao:. Too, too funny!

BAMB - The surgery is outpatient. I arrive at 9:00 and should be in the OR by 10:30/11:00am. The procedure takes about an hour and they are anticipating about 2 hours for recovery so I should be home by 4:00pm at the latest.

Question for y'all. They gave me the choice of general anesthetic or an epidural. The spinal thing makes me nervous but general makes me nervous also. I have a bad reaction to both. What would y'all do?

general. I had an epidural when I delivered DS11, never again. I had the shakes so bad I thought I was going to die.

What kind of reaction do you have?

Seriously bad shakes for both kinds. I was just worried about being intubated because my only other surgery was a lower abdominal laporyscopy (sp?) and I found out they intubate for that standard. They won't for my knee surgery so I should be fine with general. The risk of the spinal tap part makes me very nervous. I'd much rather just have the IV.

I have had two knee surgeries and I had general anesthesia for both.

Good luck with the surgery and do just what the doctor orders!:grouphug:

I will be thinking of you on Tuesday, go for the general, just think of it as a nice little nap.

I am PMing you my phone number, give me a call anytime and if you'd like some company, I can make a trip up!

Hey Shauna, just noticed your new tag, very cute!!!
