My sister and I really want to try the surfing lessons at Typhoon Lagoon but haven't been able to on our two previous trips last year. I didn't know how far ahead it was necessary to plan and called too late for our April trip and TL was closed for refurbishment during our Dec trip. So are the lessons fun/ worth it and is time to try calling reserve yet? We will be there 8 days so we have some flexibility in timing but I probably need to have the surfing day planned before it is time to book PS for breakfast at Crystal Palace and maybe Chef Mickey's or Cape May. BTW, my sister and I are over 18+ but still like character meals.

My dd did this last year during spring break and loved it! It was well worth the money IMHO. You get about 10-12 rides in a controlled environment with excellent teachers helping you every step of the way. I can't remember if it's a 90 or 60 day ressie, looks like you're within either of these dates anyway, but they do limit the number of students and they only did it on Tuesdays or Fridays when we were there. Call 407-WDW-PLAY. BTW- I'm over 18 and still love character meals too! :Pinkbounc

Laurabelle,

Did you have to have entrance to TL to do this? My DS, 16, might enjoy this, but we have regular annual passes and don't do the water parks. Also, were there any older teens there, like 16 or 17, or is something for younger kids? OH, do you remember the price, too?

Congrats on your survival.... I'm one too.... 1 year so far!

Congrats both of you on being survivors. My Grandma is at 7 years so in CA terms is 'cured' but my mom, her sisters, and my sister and myself all have higher risk. I don't think you need Typhoon Lagoon admission for the day as the CM member I spoke with this afternoon described it. Its 30 minutes on dry land and then time in the surf pool for 90 min(? she said 2 hours) but starts at 0700 or 0730 before the park opens. She also said the booking window is 90 days so I'm supposed to call back end around the first of March. I would hope it is appropriate for older teens as my sister is 18 and I'm over 21 and therefore no longer counting.
I forgot to add, the CM said that the cost was $135 which seems like its probably going rate for surf lessons anywhere.

MinnieM3- No, you don't need admission to watch, but they do herd everyone out just before the park opens for the day. We were also staying at TL for the day, and they did encourage us to leave a towel on the lounge chair of our choice on the way out for when we came back in. Congrats on your survivorship, I'm 6yrs out whoooo hooo!!! Enjoying every minute of it!

xterratri - There were people of all ages, kids through adults. I'd say the majority were young adults. The staff made eveyone very comfortable, so I wouldn't worry about it. Everyone was equally excited to be there! Congrats to your grandma and yes, you ladies need to be extra watchful over your own health...

Great! I'll ask DS16 about it tomorrow. Sounds right up his alley...except for the early time! He'll have to weigh out the pros and cons himself!
6 years! Way to go!!
