Surf and Turf Disney Style…..30 days of food on land and at sea! 06/16 WPE

Reading this is giving me "Disney Cruise Envy." Thanks so much for sharing.:)

We sailed through Hurricane Irene - does that help sooth your "cruise envy"? :rotfl2:
No, honestly, it was a DREAM come true, to stay on for three cruises and get to know all the CMs! :thumbsup2

That's only 1 1/2 cookies per person, Jen! I think I had more than that some days, so someone must have lucked out on cookies! :rotfl2:

Always love your reviews

Glad you enjoy them! Lots more to come! :thumbsup2

Hi Karin :goodvibes

I simply must try and get lunch or breakfast at one on the rotational restaurants on my next trip :thumbsup2

Really enjoying your reviews (as always) :)

Linda, you definitely must try and go to the rotation restaurants if they are open for lunch or breakfast. We so enjoyed the Royal Garden for both! And so much nicer to be served than to have to serve yourself! ;)

Day 13, August 25

Eye Scream treat

While we walked the ship we went past the Frozone soft serve ice-cream station and we could not resist trying one.

IMG_1499.jpg

So I got a cone which was (I think) vanilla and strawberry. I am not a huge fan of soft serve ice-cream, but this was very nice, only downside - it melts all over you if you try to eat it outside in the August heat.
We fled inside and I ate it on the way to our stateroom!

Next up - Vista Cafe

Day 13, August 25

Vista Cafe

We had a DISmeet planned that afternoon at the Vista Cafe. Tom and I went there early and decided to enjoy a Cappuccino before the meet.
So Tom went to order them and this was, what the CM brought to our table!

IMG_1505.jpg

Beautifully decorated coffees, lots of yummy milk foam - nearly too beautiful to drink.
Oh, and btw the cups and saucers looked cute too. :rotfl2:

Without ordering the server brought out these beauties. (for you, Jen!!!!!!!)

More of the wonderfully chewy, soft and yummy chocolate chip cookies!

Lol at the ice cream melting so quickly!! I'm glad you managed to enjoy what you could of it! :thumbsup2

Aaw the decorations on the coffees look really pretty! What a nice surprise and I agree in that the cups and saucers look great too :goodvibes

Mmm yummy cookies!! :rotfl:

Oh I am very hungry now :rotfl: soufflé, konk kooler, pot stickers, french toast, palo’s dinner I can’t wait to sample them all yum yum.
Serenity bay looks bliss – postcard perfect :cloud9:
I would certainly purchase one of those very well presented cappuccino's.

I never even made it to the Vista Cafe on our three day Cruise !

You are giving me so many ideas for our 7 day Western :goodvibes

OMG my favorite Cappucinno :worship::worship: I could use one NOW!!!!! I have alot of things to do next cruise due to the extra legs that slowed me down I really have a few things to do next cruise of things i missed that i plan on next time and part of it is FOOD:rotfl2::cool1::lmao:

It sure is nice to be pampered once in a while, isn't it?

I think one of the best kept secrets (maybe it's not so secret any more) is that grownups love Disney more than kids!

What pretty cappuccinos! I also love the plate the cookies are on. I like how you don't notice that it's a Disney decorated plate at first, but upon a second glance see the characters.

Mmm yummy cookies!! :rotfl:

It was so hot and the ice-cream just seemed to dissolve in a flash. We just fled inside, so I could at least enjoy a little of it.

We were stunned at the coffee decorations. It had taken a long time until we received them, but once they arrived we were in awe - too beautiful to drink! ;)
And the cups and saucers were just too cute! :goodvibes

You know, looking at Disney food is supposed to make you hungry! :rotfl2: It's all the pixie dust they season it with. :lmao:
Serenity Bay is the absolute heaven on earth. We just love it there.

I never even made it to the Vista Cafe on our three day Cruise !

Lots of things to discover, Linda!
Did you visit Pink? ... or Skyline? ... or 687?
Lots of wonderful places to "hang out". ;) :lmao:

Did you try them at the Vista Cafe, Jeff? They were really good! :thumbsup2

Good to know that you are planning in some serious food experiences for your next cruise! It was awesome, wasn't it? :goodvibes

:cloud9: that cappuccino and cookies!! OMG!! too yummy looking and beautiful too.

Ann, the coffee and cookies are worth considering going on a cruise! :lmao: ;)
You would really love the Disney ships! :thumbsup2

We really enjoyed being pampered every now and then, but who wouldn't. ;)

And you are so right on this well kept Disney secret - I know a lot of adults who don't even have kids and love the place! :thumbsup2

The cappuccinos were wonderful, not only beautiful to look at, but very good! Lots of creamy milk foam and nice coffee.
Well, the plates were just too cute. I loved them.

I think I had a few more pre day than that. LOL

Love the cookie picture!!!! :worship:

There were days when we consumed more than our share as well, Jen. ;) :lmao: You can't help yourself when these cookies call "eat me, eat me, eat me!"

Day 13, August 25

Animator's Palette

Now, before I go on please remember that this was the day Hurricane Irene hit. Captain Henry did his best NOT to rock the boat, but it did rock. We were lucky we already had our "sea legs", but lots of people "lost" their lunch/dinner that day.

When it was time for dinner that day, funnily enough we were both really really hungry. :rotfl2:
We got in line and danced around the chairs that had been placed around other people's lost dinner on the way to the restaurant.
Ali, our head server had promised us a table for two for this cruise and he did not disappoint us, we HAD a table for two. :woohoo:
(Don't get me wrong, we had super nice table mates on our first cruise, but it was exciting to be on our own.)

Once inside the restaurant, Ana and Sapto were right there to make us comfortable.

IMG_1529-1.jpg

Poor Ana felt pretty sick herself, but they took extra good care of us and because so many people had skipped dinner they had enough time to sit with us for a moment and colour some of those kid's menus! :rotfl2:

Okay, on to the food!

When we arrived we found the

IMG_1527.jpg

Roasted Garlic dip on the table. It went perfectly well with the

IMG_1528.jpg

Herb Foccacia and Ciabatta bread. We nibbled quite a bit of it until our drinks arrived.
Tom had the

IMG_1530.jpg

Blueberrillicious, Tequila, fresh blueberries, passion fruit juice, triple sec and sour mix, which he enjoyed very much. I tried a sip and it was very good, but I am not a huge fan of blueberries.

I had ordered the

IMG_1531.jpg

Golden Breeze, Vodka, amaretto, galliano, orange juice and pineapple juice, which was far more up my street. Sweet, fruity and you could not taste much of the alcohol, even though there was lots of it in it! ;)

A little while later our starters arrived. Tom had the

IMG_1540.jpg

IMG_1539.jpg

Smoked Salmon Tartare, Capers, onions and micro greens topped with American black caviar, seasoned with Celtic salt. I tasted a little bit and it was exceptionally frsh - the capers and onions went perfectly well with the salmon.
But I had a wonderful starter myself,

IMG_1538.jpg

the Black Truffle Pasta Purseittes, Pasta purse filled with truffle scented cheese and coated with a delicate champagne sauce. :cloud9: The pasta was thin and delicate and filled with nicely scented cream cheese. It had a very light truffle sent and it worked wonderful with the light and airy champagne sauce. Instant

Since we were both so hungry we had both ordered some soup as our next course.

IMG_1542.jpg

This was Baked Potato and Chedder Cheese Soup with bacon bits and chives. Oh my!!! Thick creamy comfort food soup, with a rich cheese flavour and lots of bacon bits. I wish I had some now! :goodvibes

Next up were the main courses. Tom had ordered the

IMG_1548-1.jpg

IMG_1550.jpg

Grilled Pacific Black Cod, with sauteed morel mushrooms on a yellow split pea puree. Cooked to the point wonderful fish, the puree was creamy and well seasoned the mushrooms were fragrant and tasty!

I had ordered the

IMG_1546.jpg

Animator's Trio of Veal, Grilled tenderloin, pulled shank and tortellacci pasta with a sun-dried tomato and sage reduction and garnished with a potato crisp. I had been wondering about this and it was the perfect dish to order. The pulled shank was full of flavour and very moist. The pasty was thin and filled with lots of minced veal, while the tenderloin was cooked perfectly pink. I was really happy and in food heaven with it.

Dessert time!

IMG_1553.jpg

Tom's choice was the

IMG_1556.jpg

IMG_1557.jpg

Dense Chocolate Cake, a Brownie, caramel sauce and whipped cream. The cake was dense, moist and a bit sweet, but he managed to finish it all.

I ordered the

IMG_1554.jpg

IMG_1555.jpg

Lemon Mousse with mango coulis and dark chocolate. This was pretty light, refreshing and not as sweet as I had expected it. A wonderful end to our meal.

You would really love the Disney ships! :thumbsup2

I am actually coming closer and closer to considering it. I have been looking at 2013 dates... but I promised dh no disney (for him) in 2013 so not sure how I can get him to go along with it.

Your food looks amazing! Maybe I will just show dh your pics and that will get him interested. :rolleyes1

Your dinner looked so yummy! I love tenderloin, plus veal, to die for!:lovestruc

It was one great dinner! And since so many other cruisers were "missing", we got all the attention of our servers! :lmao:

:woohoo: for considering it. Maybe Steve WOULD enjoy a cruise and could tolerate "a little Disney" while on the ship. ;) :thumbsup2

The food is really good on the DREAM ...... and there is "plenty" of it, too! ;)

I'm so glad you were able to keep your lunch/dinner in!

We already had our sea legs and didn't feel sick at all - but we were SOOOOOOO hungry! :rotfl2:
