We have been very lucky, receiving wonderful gifts from the Disney Florist. And I love it, when they place it in the room and you come back to such an awesome surprise.

Day 2, August 14

Lunch at Wolfgang Puck's Express

Before our DISmeet in the afternoon we wanted to spend our first Free Dining Credits at one of our favourite dining locations, Wolfgang Puck's Express.

We arrived there at around 2pm and the restaurant was FULL. We placed our order, found a table and waited for our food to be brought out.
It did not take long.

Tom had ordered the Barbequed Chicken Pizza, with succulent chicken, red onion, plum tomatoes and fresh cilantro. We love the pizzas, they have a thin crispy base, which reminds me so much of real italian wood fired pizzas. I did not try it, but Tom really liked it. The balance of meat, onions and cilantro was perfect and it was well seasoned - he finished it, guess that says it all.

I had ordered my all time favourite, the Four Cheese Pesto Pizza, loaded with lots of Parmesan, Mozzarella, Fontina and Goats cheese, plum tomatoes, fresh basil and sun-dried tomatoes. The cheeses blend very well together and the fresh basil and tomatoes give it a really fresh and light taste, even though the cheese and pesto are heavy. I just love the super creamy goats cheese that sits on the tomatoes - it just melts in your mouth. BUT, even though I tried hard, I could not finish it - the pizzas at WPE are huge!

For dessert we had both ordered the Creme Brulee! We love the Creme Brulee, it is very creamy and silky and has just the perfect thin sugar crust. Plus the strawberries are pretty yummy too!
We both managed to finish our desserts!


What we saved using the FREE Disney Dining Plan:
Total number of credits - 16 TS, 16 CS and 16 snacks
WPE: 43,80 $ (14 CS credits remain)

Total saved: 43,80$

Mmm WPE - it sure is a great CS! I have to agree in although the pizzas are yummy they are huge! We had the Four Cheese Pesto Pizza later on in the trip and it sure was heavy.

Love the desserts here as well

Oh, Karin! One of my favorite things on pizza is goat cheese. That looks so good. But what to when I go???? I want the salmon...and now the pizza. I can't go twice...it isn't in the plan...so I will have to choose.

Do you know, I have never had a pizza at WPE - I will have to remedy that!

I think it's because they look so huge and I hate not being able to finish a meal!

Im so sad we never got to do WPE. On the day we were at Downtown we were not really hungry and had an early ADR for T-Rex. we did have another Downtown day planned and thought we'd go then-however we never did go back to Downtown. Its going on my list for next time...just not sure when that is.
Great reviews, the pizzas look lovely. I probably would have got the BBQ pizza.

[FONT="Arial Black[FONT="Arial Black"]We were on the same cruise!!!!!!!!! That was the first one of our three cruises, before, during and after the hurricane ....... and we enjoyed all three of them. Captain Henry did a pretty good job getting us through the storm! [/FONT]

We WILL be back to OKW next summer, Aug 19 - 24, what dates are you looking at? Wouldn't it be fun to be there at the same time again?
IF you stay at OKW you have to give Olivia's a try - it's a wonderful restaurant!

Our friends were on your second cruise. It was their first cruise and they MISSED CASTAWAY CAY

We are hoping to have a few days at Hilton Bonnet Creek and then be at OKW August 10-31, looking forward to meeting you

You have such great reviews!! But holy smokes!!! I think this trip must have taken the cake as one of the BEST vacations of ALL TIME!!!! People thought I was nuts booking 2 weeks @ WDW. I think you have the right idea!! I wanted to add that we don't stay @ OKW but last time tried Olivia's for breakfast & thought it was THE BEST breakfast in WDW. I had the banana bread french toast.(yum) Now I see those eggs! They good scrumptious. (both choices) I can't wait for that "sweet" breakfast!!!

That was really of the person that got you that basket . it looks amazing . and this was my favorite dessert Creme Brulee! remember i finished lily's and that pizza looked amazing . I so wish i could do something this year but i so know it is just not going to happend but think of it as i will be saving many till we see you guys again tell then i will live these happy trips thru you

It's especially great if you are on the DDP!
All their pizzas are huge, but I have yet to meet one I don't like, but the 4 cheese pesto is my favourite!

How about finding someone in your family to share with? That's what Tom and I usually do when we want to try different things. Or go back another day to try the other entree!

Never had a WPE pizza? Shari, you don't know what you are missing - make it a point to have one on your next trip! You can take the rest in a container if you can't finish it.

Don't tell me about it. We had friends from England too, and it was their first cruise too, they were so disappointed we missed CC!

I can see another DISmeet in our future - we'll be at OKW August 19 - 24, then we are back on the DREAM again!

We usually stay for 4 weeks, makes the long and expensive flight worth while.
Olivia's is a hidden gem! Such a wonderful restaurant and the CMs are so nice. And the resort is wonderful too, we just love it there.

I know, Mary Ellen and Joe are awesome friends! We met on the internet and planned a trip to WDW together. We really bonded instantly when we met at POFQ.
I will send lots of pixie dust so maybe, just maybe you might find a way to go back to Disney next summer. And if not, we will need to make plans for 2013! We really had so much fun with you all!
