Suprise WDW Trip Question

If you could pull it off would you have the trip be a suprise to your spouse as well as your kids? Dh has been grumbling that we really need a trip. We'd only be able to really do a Thu night fly out and come home Monday. We've done the short trip's before and find they are usually enough to satisfy that urge until we can get a big trip in there.
DH usually works out of town Monday-Thursday late morning. I know I could let his boss in on it and he'd be sure there were no hold ups that week to keep him gone until Friday-- and he'd be able to take him off work on Monday for me.
I handle all the finances (dh likes to be oblivious)-- so I could get away w/ it on that end too.
Biggest thing is I'm not sure if he'll like being left out of the planning. It's only a long weekend so it's not even like there's a real lot of planning to do.
I would just love to have him come home from work--- play it all "cool" and tell him we have to go get ds from school so we can make it to the airport on time.
My only problem would be the dog-- I'd have to find a reason the dog wasn't there......

Well, if you normally take the dog to the groomers, then there ya' go, he's at the groomers.

If you don't, "The dogs coat was so matted, I just couldn't get out all of the matts and knots, so I had to take the dog to the groomers".

The groomers is actually perfect. Thank you-- I was stumped on how I was going to handle the missing dog since it's the first thing he looks for when he gets home.

I would LOVE to surprise DH with a trip sometime!!! For me, it would have to be a short time between planning and leaving and my best friend would probably want to murder me since she'd be the one listening to me obsess about details but I think it would be a blast!!

Go for it! And please let us know how things go.

Not sure if I could pull this off, but I'd love to be on the receiving end of a surprise trip! We are surprising our kids with a trip leaving in 3 weeks, but I would never be able to hide it from my DH!

I have wanted to come home one day & obliviously be led to the airport for a stressfree trip where all the planning, finances, childcare, reservations were all done for me....but I would probably want to strangle DH if it was a Disney trip What can I say, I've walked into blind trips in the past that were so stressful I needed a vacation from the vacation :confused3

Come to think of it, I'm just as compulsive in researching our annual Mexico trek, and all we do is lay on the beach most of the time :rotfl2:

IF he likes to help plan or gets a disney fix from it, I'd say no;

We DID surprise the kids with a 10 day trip one year, and the oldest one other time...and they were MAD! We took away their anticipation. Guess which parent they look like :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Glad I could help! :) Enjoy your trip!!!!

I am dying for a suprise trip!...I leave lthe disney page up on my dbf computer all the time and I talk about Disney all the time!...I would love to come home and have him say we are going to Disney!...I mean i might be alittle disappointed because if I missed out on all the planning but Hey im going to Disney and I would be the happiest person ever! :cheer2:  :bounce:

This is excellent!!

I tell you what, if he doesn't want to go, count me in. LOL!!! :rotfl2:

Did the surprise trip. DW surprised me and kids with Thur-Mon trip. Was surprised, and enjoyed the stress free idea of enjoying vacation without worrying about scheduling and finances. Have a great time- I know your DH will also.

If my dw :earsgirl: would take me on a surprise WDW trip, :cloud9: I would do anything she wanted for the next 5... no 10... no 20... no 100 years :worship: . I'd even dance like a banana in public! (Does that count?) :yay:

Unfortunately, given my hyper-planning and control freak nature :furious: , she would be scared to death that she got it all wrong in my eyes, so she will never do it. :sad2: If she's reading this, here's my practice: "Hon, everything was perfect. You did everything exactly right. In fact, you did it better than I would have." (Wow, that last sentence was tough even to type!)

Tim, who knows he needs to lighten up on vacations. :cool2: (Middle-Aged Man voice a la Dana Carvey) I'm workin' on it!!

...my husband doesn't like surprises (even well-planned ones) and this would not be a pretty scene at my house. You're the only one who knows how your husband would react.
