Supposed to fly out of Philly Monday am

I am supposed to fly to chicago from Philly at 7 am Monday. We are getting warnings of a severe weather emergency and it's going to be worst here in south jersey. I don't drive well I'm the snow. Even if flights are going it's quite possible I won't be able to get to the airport. Also were only going for three days. If we get delayed a DDT or more the trip becomes pointless. What is the way these things are dealt with.

No advice, but good luck! The reports sound as if there will be little snow in the morning and the afternoon and night will be much worse, so hopefully it will all work out for you!

I would consider getting there early but I'm not going to get there at three in the afternoon for a flight at seven the following am. ESP if that flight could be cancelled and I'll be trapped there. It doesn't sound good. My sis will be so sad if we don't go.

If the flight is cancelled and we can't fly the next day will they give us a voucher to fly later in the year and would I have to get to the airport for that to happen.

Depends on the airline. Who are you flying with? They could change your flights for free or cancel and give you a voucher for later use.

My DDs are flying on AirTran this week and we were able to change their flights from Sunday to Monday because of the weather in Atlanta without a change fee.

Are there drivers you could hire to take you to the airport? A more expensive option, but it might get you to the airport.

At the very least, that flight isn't leaving PHL on time. I don't miss the Philly airport...

Also, there is the hotel inside the PHL airport - could you stay there the night before your flight?

I was supposed to fly into Newark tomorrow and we got a call tonight saying they canceled the flight. I haven't been able to get through to the airline to re-book. Frustrating. I tried to change to a different flight online and they were going to charge me $340. UGH! So I am on hold hold hold hold hold hold.


Hopefully the weather will be better by Monday morning for you so you don't have to deal with this.

Could you fly out Sunday AM before the weather starts to get really bad. My understanding is that in the tri-state area, it's supposed to get bad around 11-ish...maybe you could take an 8 or 9 am flight Sunday morning and beat the weather out of town...

Flight has been cancelled. I can't get through. Forty minute hold times. For a three day trip I'd rather postpone til the spring. We won't be able to get a flight until at least Monday night I'm sure and I'm expecting a nightmare. I'm not willing to head up til the roads are cleared. Maybe I'll get lucky and snag an earlier flight.

One of my staff sent me a text this morning to let me know she will need Monday off because her flight from Atlanta tomorrow was cancelled. Then my son called a few hours ago to tell me his flight out of Orlando was cancelled.

Both of them have been rescheduled for flights on Monday, but mother nature might have other plans.

News just said 12-20" 50mph gusts. If they change my flight to Monday night would it be likely that well sit there for another day? My son has to come back on Thursday am and this is just a family get together. We can do it in April.I don't want to spend the money to fly out and only have 11/2days there. If the flight is cancelled can I refuse when they reschedule if I cant do it.

I have found that when weather is a factor that the airlines ahve been pretty flexible about when a flight gets rescheduled.

We had a weather thing a couple of years ago when we were going down to Disney for the marathon...snow the day we were leaving, the small airport we usually fly out of was closed. They allowed us to switch flighs to JFK which, being a bigger airport, had better snow removal etc.

Does anyone know if I were to change my flight online would they refund the change fee since my flight was canceled? I am so tired of being on hold. (4 hours last night at least, I fell asleep while on hold so don't know if they ever even picked up and I have been on hold 1 hour this morning so far) The instructions say online that you have to cancel the flight but I can't because I was automatically checked in. They say you shouldn't be charged if you change withing 24 hours due to bad weather. Can' get a flight until Tuesday so they want to charge me $150 each when I try to get another flight online.

Got a text from my staff member who is stuck in Atlanta. Her flight has once again been rescheduled. She is now on a Wed. flight.

I don't understand why an employer or boss would get upset about these type of situations (even if understaffed). It's not like people plan to be delayed due to weather. Why add stress to an already stressful situation for the employee?

Well I am not going to get in trouble or anything, they just aren't going to be happy about it. They will probably be more unhappy about those who call out sick because they don't feel like shoveling their driveways.

I know you can't change to within 7 days, but in this case, I would spend the time on hold waiting for an agent... what else do you have to do ? You aren't packing, etc...

American Airlines. I'm looking into train service into the airport now. But the phil. mayor has declared an emergency after 1pm. No non-emergency travel after this. I bet trains will be shut down also. I'm trying to decide what to do. If i don't go to Chicago my sis will be very upset but this is a family get together and we can go out in the spring. My other sis is already there because they drove yesterday. We have to come back Thursday no matter what. My son is in a band that has a new years eve show. So if I try to get out of here and we end up sitting for two days because everybody else is being rescheduled the trip will be pointless. They didn't announce this was coming until yesterday at around 5pm. I should have tried harder to get out early this am. When I called them they told me there were no available flights until Tuesday but if you looked online at the flight sites there were some seats this morning at ten thirty.
