I just can't believe it! I've been planning this trip forever and now we have Isabel to deal with....Sheesh!

We are supposed to depart Manchester, NH at 7:30 PM Thursday night.....just as the hurricane is predicted to hit land. I would imaging that all flights up/down the East Coast will be cancelled....?? Or do they have alternate flight paths in these occasions???

I am so bummed!!!

Here are my 2 cents on this situation...

You can't change it or control it, so you can't worry about it. Easier said than done, I know!

The problem in these situations is that weather creates a domino effect of flight problems. You may have perfectly nice weather where you are, or where you're going, but the plane you're supposed to take gets stuck somewhere else, and so on.

Anyway, if you're lucky, she'll come ashore in the middle of the night and not disturb flights too much. Also, at least you don't live hours from the airport. You can call 2 hours ahead to see what's going on and still be at the airport with loads of time to spare. And if you get cancelled, you live close enough to get home.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Sammy, living in New England, you KNOW how our weather changes minute to minute. You may be worrying yourself sick for nothing! Stay calm and watch the weatherman. I bet its going to be just fine!

Your flight out Thursday pm will likely depart, but keep checking with the airlines of course.
I doubt that all flights up and down the East Coast will be cancelled, more likely, there will be many delays. Is your flight direct to MCO? If so, don't worry.

Just enjoy your WDW experience when you get here.

Thanks, guys.....

I'm not really "freaking" out.....just disappointed that we may not get off the ground when we're supposed to. I'm trying to maintain the attitude that its Mother Nature and there's nothing I can do to alter what's going to happen.

mcnuss: Yup..living close to the airport is a good thing! We are only 20 - 30 minutes away. So we can get there fast if we have to, and also go back home easily if we need to.

WDWisTheBest: Yes, our flight is non-stop. My concern is that it will be greatly delayed. Our scheduled flight time is 7:30 pm, and with three young kids, it was already a late flight for us! I can just see us arriving at MCO at 3:00 AM....two pooped parents and three comatose kids! (of course, comatose is preferable to wild and cranky!!)

We were scheduled to fly out of Newark on Friday AM. I called Continental and changed our flights to Thursday AM. They charged me $50 pp change fee but I felt better about doing it now. I asked them to waive the fee because of the storm and they said, "we are not doing that"...
Maybe we can go standby on an earlier flight out of EWR on Thursday, we will be watching Isabel just like everyone else.

Shoes99: I am not sure you did yourself any favors, this is the latest from the NWS:

Isabel has weakened, but remains a major (category 3) hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale. The storm is bing negatively infulened by a trough of low pressure to its northwest. Outflow inhibition and dry air intrusion has weakened the storm, especially on the western side. The storm may strengthen a bit over the next day or so as the trough to the northwest lifts out and the storm heads for the warm Gulf Stream waters. Landfall should occur by Thursday.
