I would like those who stay at pop or the values to tell why you love them here for others to read. I have read so many posts from people who assume that someone who stays at a value is doing so because of money issues. Most of the time these comments are made in better than thou statements. Being someone who makes a choice to stay at values but can afford to stay mod or deluxe if I wanted I find it offensive. I chose to stay at values because:
1 my kids love the decor- I allow my oldest to pick the hotel, she looks at them all online and chooses
2 I love the simplicity of the food courts quick and easy
3 We use all the extra money saved on the room for things like Sea World tickets, more days, lots of souvies
4 no matter how much money I have I find it silly to pay the deluxe prices for a room I only sleep in
5 we love the waterparks so a fancy pool is not a big deal

after camping in fw in '98, my goal was and still is to stay at all the resorts, at least once

we were going to stay at a value resort this trip, but since we are taking it as a belated honeymoon, we wanted something a bit more romantic

otherwise, it would have been a value

i visited one of the all stars during the '98 trip and i thought it was a fun looking place and i intend to stay there next year when i bring my granddaughter and kids

We have stayed both on and off-site as well as camped on & off site. We prefer the values because:
1) Kids love the decor- the icons at ASM, the giant toys at POP, they always vote for a value (unfortunately not always the same one :rotfl: )
2) Don't need a sit down meal/restaurant, food court is perfect for my family, a little of this and a little of that and my family is happily fed!
3) I can't justify the extra expense per night when all I really want is a bed and a shower, we don't usually spend a whole day at the resort and mostly use the pools as a "relaxer" at night before bed.
4) We aren't really a "fancy ambiance" type family. We're a get up, get dressed and go family. That type resort would be lost on our family.
Think that's it for now I guess. If I think of more I'll add later.

I have been to Pop Century and POFQ, I did the moderate last year as I had done so much overtime I just wanted to go to a moderate that time to try one out. This year I am doing CSR because the uk offer for free ddp was only for the moderates this time. With the free ddp the moderate came out £500 cheaper for the two rooms (I did look at the suites but will not share a bed with my sister, that is what my nieces will do, my sister snores and kicks I remember that from when we where kids)

We've stayed at most of the resorts on property and I still find myself going back to the values. We stayed at BC for a week in the summer and before Christmas we stayed at ASMu and we had a blast there. Most recently, last weekend, we stayed at POR. We've stayed at POP atleast 10 times. It's not the kids that choose the resort... It's me!!! We could stay at any of them, but when I get in the car to leave my house for WDW, it's all about the fun I will have (I bring them along as entertainment;) ). To me, the values are all about fun and having fun was Walt's dream for Disney World. The look and feel of them is fun and if you feel like skipping to your room, then skip! That will make your teenage kids look at you funny though! Even the food courts and pools at values are fun. DS17 said ASMu was his favorite resort!! He loved all the different sections and we walked around and took his picture at every single light post and street sign in the Broadway section as well as many others in the different section!! I think he's like me because he just wants to have fun too!

If you are going to WDW and don't want to be in a fun environment, don't stay at a value, but if you want your stay to be all about having fun and experiencing everything Disney, a value is perfect. Oh, and if you see someone skipping to her room and her teenagers are hiding, that's probably me!

I have never stayed at a resort other than a value. But my major reasoning for loving values is a reason most people hate them: the noise. I have only visited other deluxe resorts and they all seem too quiet and formal. I love waking up, walking out my door and hearing the laughter and talks of happiness from all the people around me. It's part of the Disney experience for me.

I will also add that we stay at values for monetary reasons. I cannot justify spending more money on a moderate or a deluxe. All I do is sleep there and get ready. I do not have a problem with the beds; and the bathroom has a nice big mirror for me to do my hair and makeup.

I have stayed at Pop before and we loved it. I received a 40% off email earlier this month and had my choice of staying anywhere and getting the 40% off, but to be honest we like POP. It has it's own bus, no sharing. The food court is great, great decorating. And to be honest we are never in our room - just to sleep. I guess if we were to spend alot of time at the resort I guess a Deluxe would be nice. But I know that will never happen!

I'm the mom of a value family. We love the value resorts. Like others have said it is hard for us to justify spending more money for a place that we are only going to sleep and shower in. We have stayed at Pop 2 times and ASMo once. We will be staying at ASSp for the first time next month.

We love the themes, the rooms are just the right size for us, the pools are great & so are the food courts. I do love the fact that Pop has its own bus system.

My family can feel/find the "magic" anywhere in WDW, but we identify the characters from the movies we love, with Disney. The characters are associated with some special memories for us... Woody, all dressed in "scrubs," clutched tightly in the arms of our son heading into the operating room for his 4TH surgery, a dance recital performed to a song from Fantasia, our now 17 year old, running around when she was little, asking to watch the "dog-dog" (Dalmations) movie, etc. All-Star Movies feels like going home for us. We welcome the warmth and comfort of those memories, and the larger than life characters add to the "magic," for they hold a special place in our hearts.

We have stayed deluxe and value (never a moderatre, but for no special reason) and my entire family (children ages 6 - 26) loves ASMovies... especially the big kid... my husband. We appreciate the ammenities and details of some of the other Disney Resorts but as we discuss where to stay, ASMovies comes up again and again.

We have stayed in some fine hotels when traveling elsewhere... NYC, Boston, Las Vegas, Toronto, etc., and many oceanfront beach locations... Ocean City, MD, Myrtle Beach, Cape May, NJ, etc., but at Disney...

ASMovies is all that we "need."

I have stayed at all levels of Disney resorts and choose to stay at the values not because of the lower price but because that is where I want to stay.

---------------------------------------------------------

I have been visiting since 1971 when it was brand new.
Most people would think I would equate the Poly or The Contemporary with Disney.
Not Me! The Poly and Contemporary are very nice resorts but I prefer the fun atmosphere of the values.
I love the giant icons at the All Stars. The huge Coke cups with the straws in them at All Star Sports, the Giant Buzz and Woody and the Mickey pool at All Star Movies, and the pool with Donald at All Star Music. I love watching the little ones and seeing their eyes light up, the smiles on their faces and hearing their giggles when they see one of their favorite characters larger than life. I feel like I stepped into a Disney Movie Fantasyland when I am at the All Stars.
Now that is Disney!
When we pull up to All Stars and I see those giant icons I get the biggest smile on my face. I know I am at Disney! :goodvibes

The decor of the buildings and the extra money I save for souvenirs are some of the perks. I always ask my kids where they want to stay and first choice is All Star Sports. Of course I have 2 boys but I just get the Disney feeling when I'm there much more than say a Contemporary. But hey...thats my opinion!

I stayed at POP with my family a few years ago and I was so suprised to see how nice it was. It totally surpassed all my expectations.

The resort is themed nice, the ground are manicured and clean. The room is your basic room, but it was clean, quiet and comfortable. The bus service was good, the food court was good, the game room was good and the pools were good.

Now that my kids are older I would only be able to stay here if we got 2 rooms. That's a bummer, we really enjoyed this resort.

Resort snobs are resort snobs, wherever they stay they won't be happy. So take the negative reviews as grains of salt in a mountain of positive reviews.

Have fun!

I stay in either value or deluxe when we visit.
The values are usually for saving money, but I really love having the full food court at the values. We really miss the food courts when we stay deluxe.

There are things I love about values (food courts!) and things I love about deluxe (interior corridors, nicer lounges, table service restaurants).

I would take either over a moderate, though, which to me doesn't really offer any more than the values.

If I could afford to stay deluxe every single time, I probably would. But we don't spend a ton of time in our room, so value works out pretty well for us.

I enjoy the theming of Pop, especially. :thumbsup2

different from most of you. am allergic to the sun. so no parks or outside 11 am to 4 or 5pm (depending upon the sun). Love rain days!!!

anyway so it is necessary to come back to the resort. Pop is a fun resort you can walk around outside (which I do in the morning before parks) or inside. there is alot to see inside. W

My husband and I stayed at Coronado for our honeymoon and enjoyed it. But for the money, all we do while at disney in our room is sleep & shower. Now that we have kids I wouldn't really consider a mod...just for that reason.

Plus my girls LOVE the values and the decor and themes. They can relate to them better than the mods. They just seem "grown-up" for them. The pools are great and we love the food courts. We usually do the DDP and they have had enough of sit down meals. They can go for their beloved chicken nuggets with mac & cheese for the upteenth time. Meanwhile mom and dad can have something a little different.

As said by others, the money saved with a value is money spent on souvies!! We all love that!;)

Hey I think you just described my family! I would like to say "ditto" on the things you listed.......especially about the low maintenance typ family. The hotel room is mainly a place to shower and sleep and again, my family likes the food court as well.

I love the foodcourt. I stayed at POR in 2007 (first time at moderate) and I missed the foodcourt. I would have given up the sit down resteraunt at POR for a good foodcourt in a heart beat. I also did not like the gift shop at POR. I liked the gift shop at POP much better.
