Supervising children ages 2 to 72 while running a Half Marathon! *update 3/5*

4 more weeks until my next 1/2 marathon. I wish I could convince my DH that I need to run at Disney again this year. :rolleyes1 I'll just wait until Marathon weekend 2012. I'm dying to go back for another race!!!

I did a 10.5 mile training run today. I'm getting a little faster each time I do this long runs. I feel like I've been more consistent with my training since I got back from Disney. Having run a race has made me much more motivated!

That's great Amanda! From everything I've read, most people actually lose momentum after a race, it's great that it's actually given you more consistency! I'm sick and really frustrated that it's put a halt on my running since Wednesday. I'll be lucky if I can run again by next Wednesday. Hopefully it won't hinder my training too much to take a week off! I hope you get to run in 2012, I'm excited for the Princess next year! :thumbsup2

I guess for me it's like I finally understand WHY I'm running. I need the thrill of the race! I was a competitive athlete growing up so it's part of my being to go out and compete. With running I'm competing with myself but it's still a competition.
I'm definitely planning marathon weekend. Not sure half vs. Full yet.

Thanks Jenny for giving an opinion. I guess I'm mostly worried about the training. I couldn't get through the 12 miles yesterday due to the children's activities. The fall will be a little easier because Jessica and Nathaniel will both have Hebrew School on Saturday mornings from 9-11. I'll just have the Zach-man. My friend says she wakes up at 4am to do her long runs but I'm not sure if I'm THAT dedicated!!!! ;)

I am not going to lie. That training for the full is something else! It is more than twice as hard than the half training I'd say. At my speed those longest runs took around 5 hours:scared1: During the most intense part of the training I would actually think "Oh. It's only 10 miles today." That is insanity:laughing:

I don't know if I should THANK YOU or CURSE YOU but I just signed up for the 2012 Marathon!!!!:banana::banana:

I guess my crazy journey will continue... (Of course I am running a 1/2 marathon in just over 2 weeks in NYC so it's been a work in progress).
