Superbowl Ads

I noticed the faith-based ones too, and agree they seem oddly placed. Two promoting Jesus and one from Scientology, among the beer and truck ads (and you had to read the caption at the end to even know what it was).

I don't know, I thought the ones about menopause and skin diseases were far stranger than ones about Jesus!

The only ones, though, that really grabbed my attention were the car ads - I'm ready to go buy my EV soon!

There were a couple of ads for a church or some sort of religious organization I didn't get. Not clear what they were advertising and another of those that wanted you to go look up their website. Seems like a LOT of money to spend for a purpose that wasn't clear to me.
I only caught one - about being like children, and while it was definitely strange to see a religious ad amongst the others, I did like the premise - that kids naturally help each other out in spite of their differences, and that we adults could probably do more of that.

There were a few genuine 'feel good' moments during the SB last night - the America The Beautiful rendition, the National Anthem, the flyover, the honored "Tillman" guests for the coin flip - and the 2 toddlers in that 'children' commercial running to each other just to share a genuine hug of love - that was awesome!

I felt out of the loop! When did M & M's go away, and why are they dong a "come back". Simply weird to me.
I loved the dog one, as I have had older dogs in the past. Also liked the Dad's binky run, very funny.
I thought the religious one was out of place at the super bowl,

It's just a recent ad campaign. They've been showing the "Ma & Ya" ones with Maya Rudolph for a few weeks now. The thing is, those commercials were so weird, I didn't really get the idea that she was replacing the spokes-candies forcibly. Really, I think the campaing was a flop. I mean, clams?

I thought it was stupid. I told the kids, "If M&Ms lose business because people think they have clams in them--that's their own fault." Not everyone saw the follow-up "reinstatement" commercial.

Wasn't there an ad last year (or maybe 2 yrs ago) involving some sort of Boston accent as well? I saw a special about how they made that commercial and unless you watched it in slow-motion replay, there was no way you could catch all of their subtle meanings. I think that was maybe for some brand of car, but don't recall for sure.

Do people actually sit and analyze M&M commercials like it is some kind of soap opera? I don't get that. The idea that it is some ongoing back-story doesn't make much sense unless you have seen every prior recent commercial shown during various TV shows. I can't recall seeing any recent M&M commercials on TV so that whole storyline made no sense to me.

Honestly, if a commerical doesn't help sell more of their product, I would consider it a flop. Just because you talk about an ad in the coffee break room at work for a few days doesn't necessarily translate into higher sales.

the e-trade baby wedding commercial was amusing. i liked the bit where one of the baby guests is speaking to an adult guest and says 'so you live with your parents but you own a house in the metaverse-i don't get it' :thumbsup2

I give Tubi credit, I seriously thought dh was messing with the TV.

Kudos for the fake out.

That had shades of the She-Hulk finale.

It might not have made sense to someone with a cable or satellite box, but it looked a lot like opening the menu on a Samsung smart TV.

I think there was more then one religious themed ad but don't recall exactly when they were shown. One was just words shown on the screen and then some website to go look at. I didn't go to the website so no idea what the website contained. Don't know which religious denomination was sponsoring it.

The "Jesus gets us" ads I have seen on other events over the last couple months. The ones during the SB were just continuing the campaign. When I first saw them, I thought "if that's what they want to spend their money on", no different than Budweiser, Pepsi, Toyota, whoever. I don't understand why it's such a big deal.

My favorite was the Tubi fakeout.
Yeah that one was really good, we were watching it on cable and it made no sense for us to think tubi just started playing (as that requires us to have the fire stick on, different tv input, etc) but dang if they didn't get us looking around for remotes with a slight panic to it :rotfl2:

I didn’t watch the game or any of the commercials myself. I checked out this thread specifically to see if anybody mentioned the “He (Jesus) Gets Us” ads. There has been a LOT of discussion in Christian circles, both public and private, about this campaign and it’s always interesting to hear the comments of the wider audience the message was intended to reach. :scratchin
Same! That's why I'm here. lol

Hey guys - some of your comments are crossing the "no religious topics" line. I don't want to have to close this thread down, so please just stay away from any background discussion on the religious ads.

Thanks.

Certain businesses are tax-exempt, but I feel if they have money for ads, they should be able to pay taxes.
