Anyone else seen this yet? We rented it last night. I was really looking forward to it. I guess I must be getting too old for movies like this. I didn't find it funny in the least. I had a minor chuckle during a couple of scenes, but that was it. I really don't understand what all the hype was about this movie.

Did you see Napoleon Dynamite? I thought it was ok and laughed a few times, but overall, not nearly as great as everyone said it was. I have a feeling Superbad will be like that for me too.

I refuse to say it's because of my age though! ;)

Napoleon Dynamite was clever. It wasn't obvious humor. It was very dry.

Superbad was 2 hours of profanity, based on some kid treating his friends like crap. I don't have a problem with profanity in the least in movies, but when it's used in place of good writing, it's just pointless.

I hear ya. I wasn't going to watch it, but a friend recently told me I MUST see it (although she hasn't seen it yet) because of the rave reviews. And I loved Arrested Development (George Michael...the actor's name is escaping me right now), but I'll probably skip it.

I thought Superbad was hilarious! Loved Napoleon Dynamite, too.

I loved them both too. But with Superbad, I really only loved it because of the McLovin character. He was so funny and adorable. I like Michael Cera too, but I don't like that other guy at all.

Yeah, McLovin stole the show. Ds' good friend looks exactly like him (except he's 8).

I think it would have been better if I'd been drinking, but I was so in the mood to laugh at something mindless.

Superbad should be arriving in the mail today (thank you Blockbuster). I love juvenile, teenage boy humor.

My bff and I saw it back when it was in theatres and loooooved it (disclaimer, we were 18 and 19 at the time lol). But I hated Napoleon Dynamite. Just couldn't get into it at all. :confused3

I thought it was hysterical! Definitely not for everyone and a little over the top at times, but very, very funny.:thumbsup2

I've not seen it, but it's on my daughter's Christmas list. I guess I will be watching it in the near future and by reading this thread, that might not be such a good thing.

Last year, they wanted Talladega Nights. They told me it was going to be one of the funniest movies I'd ever seen in my life. 2 hours later, I could honestly say that it's one of the worst movies I've even seen and I so wanted those 2 hours back.

Superbad surely can't be as horrible as that one.

I loved Superbad and I 100% agree with your assesment of Talladega Nights. I watched it on an airplane (which shows you had bad it is, because anything's entertaining on a 7-hour flight) and I hated it. Not funny to me at all.

I actually ordered it for my DH for Christmas. We both liked it. I like movies where I don't have to think;)

We didn't really like it at all. We saw it in theaters and I was so annoyed by the main character by the end, I wanted to slap him. McLovin and Michael Cera were ok though.

Love, Love, Love Arrested Development, Napoleon Dynamite and other "dry" humor movies. This was nothing close.....it was rude, raunchy, disgusting humor. Usually a scene or too like that is funny, but this movie took it too far. It was just stupid.

I just paid 16.99 for it, it's on my 17 yr son's Christmas list. Could it possibly be worst than Blades of Glory? I thought that was the stupidest thing I've ever saw. My husband and son thought it was hilarious. :confused3 ;) Guess I probably won't like Superbad.

We're watching it right now. Came yesterday in the mail (Netflix).

DH is laughing his head off on the couch. My eyes glaze over anytime I look up from the Dis. Just not my kind of humor.

(for the record, I hate anything Will Ferrell is in, DH thinks he's brillant. I also hated Napolean Dynamite, DH loved it and quotes it)

Warning for parents - please, please, please watch Superbad before giving it to a minor child. It is extremely graphic. I loved it and thought it was hilarious, and I don't think Will Ferrel is funny.

I thought it was hilarious! :happytv: I hated Napoleon Dynamite.

I thought it was over the top sometimes but what I thought was so funny is how true to life it is. Being a teenager (especially a guy), trying to get alcohol, trying to be cool and trying to get sex.

Definitely NOT for young kids!
