Super tacky or nbd???

I usually carry a ziplock when we're traveling and wouldn't think twice about packaging up an extra waffle or pastry from our first serving at a family-style meal. My littlest is a grazer - we had two leftover pastries on our last visit to BoG and she was eating the first one less than an hour later while we were in line for our first post-meal ride! - so I don't like leaving easy, portable food on the table to be tossed.

I feel for you! We were very fortunate in that the first medication (Tegretol) worked as soon as we got the dosage right. Adjustments had to be made as he grew but it always controlled the seizures (complex partial). After that, he has only had 1 every 4-5 years and always when he forgets to take the med on time. I pray your son has a similar experience. Hang in there!

I don't think taking a waffle or two with you from a family style dinner is a big deal if it's food that was already served to you. Asking for more food and whipping out a case of rubbermaid containers to wrap it up to have food for a week would be a big deal (I'm exaggerating, but you get my point). It's really not any different than wrapping up your leftover meal/dessert at a non AYCTE TS restaurant, IMO.

And my guess is, if you asked your server if it was ok to take food left over on the table, they would help you pack it up. They know it’s just gonna get thrown out. But it’s a slippery slope between taking a couple of leftovers and ordering another platter with the express purpose of creating leftovers or raiding the buffet.

I've had my server at WCC offer to pack stuff up for me. The first time I actually asked if it was ok and they said they are allowed if its part of the first ayce skillet, but they aren't supposed to do it on refills. It's always WAY too huge for me on the first go so I'm good :thumbsup2 I assume it would be the same for garden grill

Go for it! I’m 30, and I always ask for extra pretzel bread...and a box... at Le Cellier...

We took food from GG and from Diamond Horse shoe. At Diamond I asked for more corn bread to take with me. They had no problem with that.

We put a waffle in a baggie for my toddler to nom on. I don't see anything wrong with that. If you wanted 10 waffles, ok that is different.

I think I'm going to go with "tacky" but certainly not "super tacky." For me, as I think about it, the tipping point is the ziplock bag of all things. For me it's tacky if it's intentional (i.e. planned) and sneaky. I'm a guy and thus don't carry a purse, much less one of those "mom bags" so it's possible that every woman I know is always wandering around with various size ziplock bags but I kinda don't think so. For me the bag makes it a plan and thus not really incidental. Somehow that's different to me than wrapping a cookie in a napkin or putting a roll in your purse. On the other hand if one were to ask the server for a box (i.e. the bread at Le Cellier) I think that's alright too. The restaurant's involvement is implied consent.

On the other hand (for those who have three hands), it's just a waffle.:D

Probably not every woman you know, but it is a safe bet a fair number of the moms are. I almost always had one when we went somewhere like Disney, the zoo, or any other long-day venue where we're going to be eating, and I don't even carry a purse most of the time. Not various sizes, and not a bunch, but one or two sandwich-size ziplocks, tucked into the stroller or my parks backpack or a jacket pocket or whatever. It isn't for any specific item, but odds are if you're out with young children, there is going to be some point during the day when it comes in handy... If not for a waffle from breakfast, then for the chicken strips she barely touched at lunch or for being able to re-seal/contain a packaged snack (grapes, pretzels, Goldfish) that wasn't finished.

I kind of agree. I don't think it is terrible (super tacky) as that food is going to waste and especially if it is your first serving, but I think the idea of taking food for later at buffet or AYCTE isn't something I would want to do. If your child is a slow eater, I see no problem with taking that last waffle in a napkin and the child munching on it as you leave, but I think it is a slippery slope for that to be the child's snack or lunch later.

It's true, I am betting more women have ziplock bags in their bag than you can imagine. They are insanely handy...unfinished snacks....protecting electronics from rain...wet clothes...one just never knows.

I wouldn't worry at all. What you're describing is not being able to finish your initial allotted breakfast, brought to you by your server. Yup, they'll toss it if you leave it. Might as well take it. I would with a clear conscience anyway.
This! Totally agree! I'd pack it in a ziplock back without a doubt. I too hate to waste food. :)

I do hope we get there someday. We have multiple types of seizures from grand mal to absence seizures. For the most part, the grand mals are under control...the rest happen with frequency, rarely does a day go by without seizure activity. He had a VNS implanted six months ago, so we have great hope that it will start making a difference soon. Thank you for the prayers.

This makes really good sense to me and avoids the potential slippery slope somebody above commented on of ordering additional food solely for the purpose of taking it with you. But if it's first serving, I can't see anybody having an issue with it. I've had the same offer at WCC before because I never can get through the skillet, even the small one that I get served as the only one eating it.

I took an orange from Tusker House Breakfast once. The server was fine with it. We were done with breakfast when I spotted them, and I really wanted to try a real florida orange in florida, so the server was happy for me to take it for later.

Growing up, I knew many, many people that would do the bold. I am not joking. Moms and grandmas taking bread bags, Tupperware, you name it to buffets and packing up food without shame.

Taking that lone waffle off the platter, go for it. Not tacky at all.

I really didn't want to upset someone, it is not that I pack a whole meal after I finished, but I usually tendl to pack too many things on my plate and then I can not eat everything I wanted to try. So I thought it was okay to take the leftovers with me. :offtopic: Sirry

When my kids were toddlers, I would travel with an assortment of ziplock bags on me! Never fails at any character meal they would be so occupied with the characters and not eat their meal. then the minute we left, they'd be hungry! I always discretely slipped a Mickey waffle, pastry, or fruit in a ziplock bag.

I remember a lovely waitress at Cape May Cafe filled a to-go cup with cherrios for my toddler to take with him.

I think for children, it's no big deal. It's what parents do.
