Super Soap Weekend 2008?

I signed the petition and sent it to a couple of friends. I am not going to be able to go this year. I went last year. But I was hoping to go next year with my friends. It's truly sad if they don't have any more.

Greg Vaughan update!!!!!

Debby O'Connor (President of several GH actors fan clubs and coordinator for many events) sent this e-mail out today.

Great news! Greg has now been invited to Super Soap Weekend, and is very excited about seeing everyone there, in addition to those he will be seeing this weekend in Lawton, OK. He is going to be one busy boy!

Have a great weekend,
Debby O

I'll see Debby this weekend at Bradford Anderson and Brandon Barash's fan events in Boston, so I'll try and ask her about this! Yay!

Greg's vocal disappointment paid off. I'm really surprised they decided to invite him afterall to be honest. I'm not going to boston...can you say hi to Debby for me? Tell her sorry I missed her and that I hope to see her soon. If you're really going to see her I can pm you my name so that she knows who is saying hi lol...otherwise, I'll just call her/email her/etc myself lol

Wow! I'm so happy to hear about Greg Vaughan!

Now maybe they'll correct another wrong and invite Michael E. Knight. He must not of even been invited, which is a shame. I couldn't see him turning it down.

And I guess the only way Susan appears at SSW is if she's eliminated prior to the event? I want her to go far but seriously, I kind of hope she is eliminated so she can attend. I know DWTS ends like right around Thanksgiving so by then, I have a feeling she might be eliminated. I hate saying it, but there are definitely better dancers and it just won't be the same without Susan Lucci. ESPECIALLY considering it's the last and she's the one (I believe although I know Kassie DePaiva's been to almost all of them as well) star to have attended every single year since the start.

Anyone else refuse to believe this is "the end". So many seem to be giving in so easily. Just thinking of what the line was like at 5 am (over 800) I find it hard to believe the hundreds of thousands of fans of SSW will not be vocal. They might try this "new" idea for a year, but it will not succeed. They will lose money. And I believe SSW will be back. Hope I'm not the only one.

I can't believe that I am missing this event by 2 days. :sad1: My DH and I arrive on 11/18. I have been a soap fan since 5th grade and this would have been a blast to go to. Well, not so much for him, but for me! :lmao: Maybe a few of the stars will still be lingering around. Susan Haskell and Bree Williamson perhaps? I love them :goodvibes

dischick- I totally agree with you. I can't believe that this will be the last SSW! I hope they will listen to the fans and change their minds.

Don't forget to sign the Super Soap Weekend Petition.

http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/SaveSSW

Currently we have 457 signatures.. We need A LOT more to make our
point that we don't want it to be canceled.

Send it to all your family and friends too!!

:)

Yes, please PLEASE sign this. I have sent it around to all my friends and family. But we really need a lot of support for the network to listen. :goodvibes

Wow, how did I miss this thread? Lots of drama this year between having to change travel plans and now just finding out that this may be the last SSW. Oldest DD and I have met my sister down there for the last three and we have enjoyed every minute of it. I always felt that it was a nice way to get away from the daily grind before the holiday season craziness. This year my DD(17) is joining us with her friend and her friend's Mom. My sister opted out this year because she is getting a new puppy the same week but I am going to call her right now and tell her that she may be missing the last one:sad1: .

I went last year to SSW for the first time I went with my mom and two sisters we got there as the park opened what time should we go this year? We only got on antoni's susan's logan's man I can't remember anyone else's because passes were all gone lol This years guest seems like its people that alot don't really like since it's the last you would think they would have more people coming. I wanna get to the park early this year I need to be on aidan's line. Do they allow you in the park or do you have to wait at the gates?

You have to wait at the gates. A lot of people get there at like 4am. Then around 6/7 ish they begin to move you depending on how they do it. In 2006, they took you through the backstage area. Last year, it was a different route. I'm excited.

Team Stitch,do you think they will change thier minds about this being the last SSW? I sure hope so.

I heard through the grape vine the reason why this is the last SSW is because SSW is part of the budget cuts.::mad:

I would think they make a lot more than they spend. Just thinking of every park pass they sell for those two days, plus the food and drink people buy, plus the merchandise they sell, plus the parking fee for those driving, plus the hotel stay for those on the grounds, etc. If they end it what will the crowds be like that weekend in November? Probably less than half the size. In addition many people, like myself, do not only go for two days but make a 6 day trip out of it. More money spent there.

I mean I don't know what this costs them, but it sure feels like I spend a lot. And I'm only one of the thousands that attend. :confused3

I've heard it wasn't Disney's choice. How could it be? I bet it RAKES in the dough.

I've heard it was more Brian Frons (head of ABC Daytime) and ABC's decision.

Hi All!
I am new to this thread but am I attending my first and last (sigh, tear) SSW. I was wondering if those who have been in previous years could give me some advice for the weekend. I would appreciate any tips or suggestions that you can offer.
