Super Soap Weekend 2008?

I just read the article on soapnet.com. It says that this is the last SSW. I can't believe it! I thought Disney made a killing off of this event. I can't believe they won't have it again.

"We're announcing the full list of all 31 tomorrow, here on SOAPnet.com -- but to whet your appetite, here are nine actors that'll for sure be attending:

"All My Children" stars Rebecca Budig (Greenlee),Thorsten Kaye (Zach), and Aiden Turner (Aidan); "One Life to Live" actors Kristen Alderson (Starr), Michael Easton (John), and Erika Slezak (Viki); and "General Hospital"'s Kelly Monaco (Sam), Jason Thompson (Patrick), and Laura Wright (Carly). That's already enough to get us there, but there are 22 others coming! Get the full list tomorrow -- right here! Okay, 21 more. Cameron Mathison (Ryan from "All My Children") will be headlining the event, doing what he does best -- hosting."

"This year marks the last Super Soap Weekend, so it is going to be extra special. How? All of the above events, plus trivia contests (including an interactive text messaging element) and commemorative clip packages that honor the 45th anniversary of "General Hospital" (which was this year), "OLTL"'s 40th birthday (also this year) and the 10,000th episode of "All My Children" (which airs in November)."

"The bigger news is that -- starting in 2009 -- there are going to be MULTIPLE events to connect fans and ABC Daytime stars. Whereas Super Soap was only once a year (and in Florida), next year's brand new "Soap Nation" tour will feature MANY events across the country that allow you to meet your favorite actors and actresses."

We almost decided not to go this year, I would be kicking myself if we hadn't changed our minds. I loved the idea of being able to see them all together, I don't like this at all .

The last SSW?!!! OMG and I cannot go this year (because of work and finances - DH has been out of work since January due to his health).

Oh am I bummed!!!

But at least I did go last year.

They have had events like the ones they want to have in the past... remember ABC Fun in the Sun?? Must not have been a success since they dont do them anymore..

I am very upset about them canceling SSW.. WHY??????????????

I have started a petition to try and save SSW. It will be presented to Brian Frons and the Disney-ABC Television Group. Any and all help is appreciated. Please feel free to distribute it to any website where it will count. Anyone who knows how to make internet links to it cool! I am not that computer savy. Send to all your Soap Friends. I want to try and get as many signatures as possible. Let us show Mr. Frons how many of us support the continuation of SSW! This is crazy.. I went for the first time last year. I waited 10 years to go (for many reasons) and now Brian Frons is stopping it?? What kind of idiot is this guy? Doesn't he know a good thing when he has one? Unbelieveable! I signed the petition and forward the link to my sister and niece. What a shame. I know people complain about how big it has gotten and how rude some people can be but how much fun do we have? A LOT! I met people last year who were wonderful. They watch everyday just like me and love it. Everyone knows how it is some friends aren't watchers and they laugh at you for watching but we don't care. We are t.v.'s biggest fans if it weren't for us we wouldn't have the SOAPS & truthfully daytime tv would stink! Now they are taking away our chance it be with new & old friends who don't laugh when we get excited about whats going on... What a SHAME!!!!

No Michael E. Knight??? I am so disappointed . Darnell Williams but no Debbie Morgan? Maybe they will have "surprises" since this is the last SSW? Tyler Christopher? They are giving him a chance again to come, I am glad Kelly was on the list though.

Also no Kimberly McCullough? Didn't she back out of Rick Springfield's Cruise? I thought for sure she would be on this list, not that I am going to go near her, but I thought for sure she would be there.
