Last November we were staying at the Beach Club during Soap Weekend. Saturday morning I decided to go over to MGM just to see how crowded things would be. As I was walking toward the elevator I noticed a couple of security people waiting by the doors as I got in. The next thing I knew Susan Lucci was getting in the elevator with me. Talk about surprises!

DebbyLof428, what did you do? Did you talk to her, did she say Hi? I don't know how I would have acted if I was in a room like that with soemone. Do you ignore them? Do you say anything, I would have been a nervous reck not knowing what to do.

Not sure if this is actually official or not but I emailed allears on the dates and they responded today with this:

I also called Disney yesterday and they were unable to find the dates but did confirm Festival of the Masters is Nov 7-9 if that matters.

I am also hoping it's the 8th - 9th but hopefully there will be confirmed official information somewhere soon.

All I said was good morning and she responded with good morning. She is very petite and very pretty. I really didn't want to bother her so early in the morning lol.

I really hope this is incorrect and that the dates are 11/8 & 11/9, because that is when we will be there and that is the weekend it usually is and was counting on it being then again this year.

Now I am getting nervous about this. My brother said his postcard said it was Nov. 8th and 9th. After reading the post today I called Member Services, I am a DVC member and asked them when SSW is. They DO NOT have the dates yet. She said the dates are released around the same time as MNSSHP and MVMCP and since they have been announce that SSW should be announced soon. So the I called Disney's reservation line and they said the same thing no dates yet. She said it runs the 2nd weekend usually, but they are not sure if it will be the 8th and 9th or 15th and 16th. This is really hard since I will be using my points and I HAVE TO KNOW the dates NOW, or I'll never get a room.

It could be either weekend. In 2003, it was nov. 8th and 9th, but then in 2004, it was the following weekend, nov. 13th and 14th. We're waiting on the confirmation of dates before booking our trip. It should be any day now, hopefully!!

The reason why it was the 13th and 14th is because that weekend was the second weekend of November. The first weekend was the 6&7 and the second weekend was the 13&14th. This year, however, the first weekend is the 1&2, second weekend is the 8&9 and the third weekend is the 15&16th. If you look at any previous years, then you'll see the pattern. In 1997, when the dates were the same as they are - with the Saturday being the 1st, SSW ran on the 8th and 9th. It follows the pattern of the Festival of the Masters (always the same weekend).

I agree with you. I am DVC also and called (before I read your post!). I already made my ressies for Nov.6-11 and would need to change them. The lady at MS didn't know anything, but said there was some availability that next weekend. I also agree with the other posters...that it is usually the 2nd weekend in Nov. I hope it's the 8-9th. Here's hoping we find out soon!

Do you know when hollywood studios will put it on their site? I e-mailed them and they told me SSW would be "mid-november" and that the dates were not confirmed yet, to check back for dates.

They are usually late in putting it up on their website. Every year it seems to go up later and later to the public. Disney themselves already know when SSW is going to be for the pure fact that they have to block the rooms at the hotel for the celebrities - as they do with any event (Pop Warner, ESPN Weekend, etc). If they need extra rooms, they just will bump regular guests to another hotel and give them a free upgrade to a different hotel. They can do that anywhere up to 1 year in advance. So they already know, but releasing it to the public is a whole different story.

Hi just wanted say. hi to my fellow soap fans ,anyone have the true dates I'v e heard 8 & 9 or 15 & 16 I keep asking work to just give me one more week .
hopefully ,we,ll now for sure .Ive been to 3 this is going to be our fourth.

I hope it's the 8th & 9th. We were able to get a timeshare free (thanks to family who's visiting Orlando at the same time and offered to share) and it happens to be the 8th & 9th (planned, of course). It's gonna be a bummer if it's the 15th & 16th.

Guest services didn't know what the dates were on Friday 5/2 when I called again though. My dates are not changing - I am just hoping it's the earlier weekend since our last day is the 15th.

Right now we have our vacation scheduled Nov. 5th - 17th. I would have liked SSW a lot better on the 8th and the 9th. I am hoping that is not an official site (I can wish can't I?). I really don't want SSW being the 2 days before we leave . WDW has these dates set aside for months, what is the reason not to release them?

Is anyone else frustrated that Disney hasn't released the November hours yet? They ought to know by now that we NEED them to plan things .

It is NOT an official WDW site. I followed their link on the previous post, then clicked on the WDW official SSW site link on that page. While SSW is listed as a special event for DHS, NO dates are listed at all. I also followed the link on the WDW site, and again lots of information about what SSW weekend is- but not a thing about WHEN.

The November calendar park hours are not yet released, either. I would guess that both will be released at the same time. It would be hard to release SSW hours when the park hours aren't even announced yet.

UGH the waiting!!!
