Need you guys to help me brainstorm. My Daughter will be 6 this year and she is in love with Mario. DH and I were thinking that he would dress up like Luigi and myself as Princess Peach (since dd wants to dress up like Mario) then we would have some kids to the playground, and do a little party. But we aren't sure what to do once we get there, we were thinking of hiding a "STAR" for them to find and setting up a little obstacle course. (Nintendo style) But this will be a public place, so we can't go too nuts. (apartment livers, don't have a backyard.)
Any ideas?? We really want to make this special for dd, we have a lot of changes happening this year. Really want this to be special.princess:

Mustaches for all the boys.

Maybe a game to "shoot fireballs at Bowzer." Small red balls and a paper Bowzer... surely a game could be come up with that??

Feed Yoshi... Some brown paper bags decorated to look like Yoshi, a game to collect the most of something to feed him???

Sorry if these are lame, thinking off the top of my head. My kids love Mario too.

I was thinking of some way to build big boxes and maybe paint each box a different color for goodie in one or two of them like how they had mushrooms and stars or jump through a bunch of boxes to save the "princess" which could be goodie bags or something.

Could you make a tunnel thingy for them to crawl through and maybe somewhere along the way have some holes cut out of the top and spray some water down into like they were under water? Silly maybe I don't know. I was thinking about how Mario would climb into one of those pipes and be transported somewhere else or swim underwater.

Why couldn't i think of that! I really like your ideas, Esp the one of bumping into the blocks and having something come out of them. I wish they had like a Mario Playground, we could take these kids too. Sounds like i am going to be painting alot of blocks. lol:cheer2:

Hey thanks! I don't have kids and certainly not arts and crafty but I do know about Mario:rotfl: I was going to suggest giving out some kind of child tool sets or plungers since they were supposed to be plumbers. The kids could wear overalls or those kind of hats

when I was younger my mom made me a mario shaped birthday cake it still remember it to this day ! I was like 9 years old then I am 25 now

Thats a cute idea too Tina..thank you! I was just looking on Ebay and i found alot of cute Mario stuff for birthday parties. They have cute little favors that are just what you were talking about. But they are candy plungers. HA HA HA!!!
I think maybe we will hit the craft store and pick up Red and Green Hats for everyone, maybe a few crowns and slap um with L's and M's. Anyone know where i could find a lot of stick on stashes this time of year?

oriental trading maybe for the moustaches? I imagine they probably have alot of other things that could help make your party easier.

Hey ThreeMuskaters, could you use a Princess Peach costume for her? I made one for my daughter and we have no use for it anymore. Here is a picture of them Halloween 06. I have a hoop skirt underneath it and I still use that so that won't come with it but I have the dress and wig/crown.

If you want it, PM me. :)

Mushroom cupcakes! I'm smiling even thinking about it... It has roughly the same effect, right? Hyper-size those kids! :rotfl:

I helped with a cake for my friends son last year. She picked up a costco sheet cake and the jelly lollypops (Mario, Donkey Kong, and Yoshi) everything else I hand made with gumpaste. It was pretty easy and I made most of them in one night!

OP, my DS8 had a Mario-themed birthday this past September. (My kids have a penchant for choosing themes which aren't readily available from local party stores. ) I did get some fun stuff at the party store though. For instance, I was able to find Mario Bros. jelly lollipops and Nintendo game-controller-shaped cases with candy in them. I put those in the goody boxes.

I found some pics of the various characters on Google Images, printed them out and made decorations from them. One image was put onto the cake by my local bakery, another image was used to make a heat-transfer to put on shirts for the birthday boy and his pals. Then the party-goers got to take home their shirts...that was a huge hit!

I made Nintendo Mushroom cupcakes, decorated with red and white frosting. Also, I was able to find foil muffin tins that are star shaped. I made brownies in those and then decorated them to look like Shine Sprites.

Also, for mustaches and little tchotchkes for the goody bags, I'd give Rhode Island Novelty a try. A little money goes a long way there.

Good luck!
