Super Goofs on Parade: Foward...MARCH!

Lisa: I don't think you were being to hard on anyone......it's true, the team is in it together (thru good times and bad!) but people need to be accountable to the team. If something is going bad, we will not be mad or judge....they need just to say the word!

Shan: I am giving you my 3 miles today/and 40 minutes. I know all that you have gone through has brought you down, and I would like to donate! Please post them under your name on the spreadsheet! It's the least I can do! It all goes to team totals, right!

Beth

Mike - You are truly a machine. Great job on the training. You are very consistent. I could sure use some of your determination most days.

Lisa - Sorry your run didn't go so well. I don't think I could have made it nearly that far with everything hurting. Don't be discouraged. At least you saw you were able to walk some and still be fine. Just focus on being safe and having fun at the marathon and I'm sure you will do great!

Maura - Enjoy your time with DD!

Shan - That's great the doctor gave you the all clear. Don't rush into it too fast. Enjoy your Peachtree training. That has to be a great motivator. Best of luck to your DH for his full on Sunday.

As for me, I managed to get in 40 minutes/9.6 miles on the exercise bike at the hotel on Friday night. I didn't want to overdo it as I had the race the next morning. I did 30 minutes of Wii Fit and another 30 minutes/7.3 miles on the bike last night.

I'm off work today and I'm still trying to chip away at the garage to make room for my weight set that has been in pieces since I had to turn my gym into a nursery over three years ago! I'd better get to work. Happy Monday everyone!

Beth, you are too sweet! Thank you so much! That really put a huge smile on my face. I'm gonna go add the miles now. This way I don't look quite so bad. :lmao: When I get back running I'll donate them back to you! :woohoo:

No problem Shan.....but you don't need to donate back to me, go ahead and pay it forward. There will always be someone who needs the lift, you know? Don't think anything of it.....I will keep you in my thoughts!

Beth

Morning Goofs!!

Beth, you are the sweetest, that has been proven over and over. :goodvibes

Shan, I was considering the surgery before all your problems. It scares me now. I guess I will keep my stretch marks and extra skin!

Steve, Mike is a machine? I think all you boys are!!

Cecilia, just your offer to come back and run with me makes me smile. You are one of my true heroes here!

Everyone else, stay Goofy!!!!!

AFM, I finished out my miles yesterday and I felt better running than I thought I would. My feet were still hurting and my ankles from the slope of the road but they felt much better after the run yesterday. I think I am going to employ the substitute workout delineated in the Runners World April issue by dividing my long run this weekend into 10 on Sat and 10 on Sun and see if that is more tolerable both mentally and physically to me. The longer runs are so incredibly boring. Thank goodness I have Patrick during the full. I know he will keep me entertained!! I think I am also going to try the fast finish run on my Wednesday runs for practice. Today is girls to the gym and 4 miles with hill repeats for me. I save the hills for home so it is just the cows and me!! Tomorrow is 9 miles and grocery/laundry detail.

See you all on Thursday!! :surfweb:

Where is everyone this morning???
Almost 7 AM and I am the first to post??

Yesterday I did a 1 hour spin class to the Twilight soundtrack. It was fun but I may have enjoyed it more if I had seen the movie. My 9 year old almost 10 year old daughter wants to see it so badly. Any one have any input. She is not bothered by scary movies- I don't want her introduced to things of an overt sexual nature. DH took her to Dark Night and she liked it (Thanks DH). I told her if she reads the book she can see it!

I received the dreaded cortisone shot yesterday. The physician spent slightly more time answering my questions- since he had to stay and answer them while he was giving the shot. He said my knee would feel better after the injection but if hurts more than before. Yoga should be okay and the ellipitical so I'll start with that.

Have a great day everyone!

Joanne

re: Twilight, it's not scary! there are a few parts that make you jump, and one or two scenes that are a little violent, but it's pretty much a love story! Great books, ok movie...my DD has read the entire series twice and seen the movie twice in the theater and 4 times since the midnight release on Friday.

My blisters have finally healed, and my sinus/bronchitis is almost gone (that means I can almost breath again!)

Maybe I'll actually have time to get on the boards again now!

I've missed a lot, but I'll try to catch up

Everyone have a GREAT day!

I'm here!

Just haven't posted yet...got in 40 minutes on my bike, hoping for another hour 20 on it.

Work has started to take over again, so this "machine" (thanks folks) is probably going to be breaking down...stupid work!

Lisa, I definitely wouldn't recommend the surgery! I haven't really posted what all happened, but it was not pretty! Now I'm having to have surgeries to correct it all (best it can be corrected). :headache: Save your money!

My oldest is 11 and she says all her friends are reading the Twilight books. I wasn't too sure about these cause a woman at swim told me she read them all and although the first book is relatively safe, the other books get a little more sexual in nature. I was thinking this might be for older teens. :confused3 What is the movie rated? We haven't seen it.

Joanne: I loved the book, and just saw the movie over the weekend. The movie is good, and keeps pretty good to the story. The only thing is that some of the characters are better in my head than on the screen! Wasn't too scarey, my 12 year old son loved it!

Shan: I know that the surgery wasn't the best for you.....it's laid you up several times. I am sorry it did not go according to plan! :headache: I don't think there is any 'easy' surgery, but I wouldn't have thought it would have turned out this way for you. :wizard::hug: to you!

Lisa: I am just helping out friends! :lovestruc I never have a problem with that, and this is a great team! I am sure it would be the same for me, if I were laid up. I am in GREAT shape right now.......and loving it! I haven't ever felt as strong as I do right now, and the 13 pounds gone has helped tremendously! I just hope to keep on the roll!

Mike: Sorry work is taking over again! :scared1: To bad we have to work for a living.......wouldn't it be great to have a 'break' and join the Biggest Loser and just workout all day!:laughing:

Hope everyone has a great workout day!

Beth

HI all,

Quick pop-in. My computer has been down all day long (and so now that it is functional, I am posting!). Did speedwork today and my shins bugged me. So cut it slightly short.

I finally updated the spreadsheet last night, so I am caught up.

Back tomorrow!

Maura

HI Goofs,

Not much time for exercise over then weekend, it was DHs B-day as well as DD was home. Monday was the grocery store-----

Worked out tonight for 40 minutes/2.8 miles on the TM.

Tomorrow is another day. I really need to build up some endurance.

I am getting a tooth pulled tomorrow morning, so I may be riding the bike in the afternoon.

Lynn

Hey Goofs,
I didn't make up the miles on Sunday. I was coming down with something, and woke up congested and achey on Sunday morning. Put off my run as long as possible, and then ran a mere 1.5 on the dreamill. (I did try it barefoot though. I've been thinking about running in the Vibram 5-Finger shoes, at least for trail running. I just need to work up to it.)

Got in 5 yesterday, but I did something to my foot, so instead of my planned run today, I did a very easy 1.5. I'm hoping to be 100% by this weekend, since recovery matters more now than training for a marathon in 3 weeks. For better or worse, the hay is in the barn for that race; nothing I do now can make it any better, though I could make it a whole lot worse if I injure myself before then.

Good Morning All-
I am going to try and beat Lisa this morning- I think we were both typing at the same time!

Yesterday I did a 75 minute fitness yoga. My inner thighs were so tight from all the horseback riding I did the week before but it was still fun.

I rode for 2 hours in the evening. It was flat week and some of the younger riders removed their stirrups for the lesson. I managed to last about 15 minutes! It's hard to post without stirrups! I got beat by a bunch of kids!

My knee is still messed up- it hurts worse than before.

I did let DDs see Twilight yesterday. It was far tamer than I thought it was going to be. I actually liked the book but I did not really enjoy the movie.
Any one else a Sookie Stackhouse fan? I am rereading all the books. #4 is my favorite so far.

Have a great day all. I have another riding lesson today, gym, and personal trainer on tap.
Joanne

... nothing I do now can make it any better, though I could make it a whole lot worse if I injure myself before then.

SMART....very smart attitude.

Joanne: Take care of your knee...three surgerys later please take it from me that its worth it to take it easy for a week, instead of causing damage that needs an orthopedic surgeon to fix.

Hope all is good for all my fellow goofs today!

I just didn't have it in the pool this morning...wimped out at 2,000 yards when 3,000 was on tap...I tweaked my shoulder on the second lap, and just couldn't mentally fight through it. I guess that its more of an excuse, but there it is.

One thing I am really struggling with (and any suggestions or insights are more than welcome) is mentally putting a missed or short workout behind me.

I feel like I have to "make it up"...and while I know in my head that I can't make it up, my gut just burns with feeling like a slackerloserwimpskirtboy when I come up short. I know that trying to make up workouts can and will (at least for me) lead to over working my body and an injury...but I just have real trouble shaking that feeling of being less than I aspire to in coming up short.

I know that the workout plan that I downloaded off the interweb wasn't designed specifically for me and my goals...but I still feel like a jerk when I don't complete what's written down.

Any ideas? :confused3

Thanks for the help and support!

On a less self absorbed note, way to go on the spreadsheet and team totals...proud of you goofs!

Mike

Swimming done for me this am. I think it's going to take a while for me to work back into not feeling like a 75 year old emphysema patient, huffing and puffing away in the pool! Think I got in about 800. Was doing some swim drills, and I tend to lose track.

Hope everyone has a good Wednesday--I just managed to piss off my boss, so I think it's going to be a long day!

Maura

--I just managed to piss off my boss, so I think it's going to be a long day!

RIGHT there with you...mine (slated to retire in June) started castigating me this morning during a conference call for doing something just the slightest bit outside our normal process. With all my peers AND his boss on the line.

Unfortunately for him, I was the presenter on the gotomeeting at the time, and I had the email FROM him DIRECTING me to take the action I did.

He sort of ran out of steam when I stopped trying to defend myself while protecting him, and just put it up on everyone's screen for them to see.

I got lots of "Way to Go" instant messages from my peers, but...

This might break bad for me during a review :lmao:

What a day..If i didn't laugh, I swear I would be in tears...

Mike: Wow......the total 'I am sunk either way I go' moment. What do you do? I think he was pretty dumb to put you in the position in the first place. Sorry you are having a bad day......it can only get better, right? :confused3

Maura: Same for you......sorry you are having a bad day! I hope it gets better!

Shan: I jumped on the stationary bike at the gym for you last night. Not much, but a little something. I am donating 15 min and 5 miles to you for 3/24. Thanks for the motivation to get a little more done!

Lisa: Sleeping in this morning? :confused3 :lovestruc

Workouts remain an up for me! I continue 'double dipping' with getting up in the morning for the TM and the evening classess at the gym. It's working pretty well so far!

Beth

You are all making this west-coaster feel pretty inadequate. I stumble to my computer half asleep each morning while waiting for the coffee to brew and see you have already racked up more miles and minutes than I used to do in a month! Way to go!

I managed to avoid hitting snooze too many times and got 6.6 miles in on the bike this morning. My evenings are pretty much booked up this week so it will be hard making time to get my running in but I'll figure out a way.

Our running club is having a team meeting tonight for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life in July. This is my first year on this team as I used to participate on my company's team. It will be a good chance to get to know them a lot better as well as support a great cause.

Coffee's done. I'm outta here! Have a great day.

-steve

Hello Goofs! I have been busy working and making time to exercises. I plan on updating the sheet tonight and getting out for a run too. I love Wednesdays. I can usually get out of the office at a reasonable hour.
