Super Goofs on Parade: Foward...MARCH!

Hey Goofs,
Quick checking in - I got back late yesterday afternoon, and this is the first I have been able to sit down.

Ran my 5k on Saturday. Overall performance was a solid B - I can do better, but it just didn't click on Saturday. I finished in 20:15, and took 3rd in my age group. (#2 was 1 second ahead of me - I should have been able to catch him, but I started my final kick too late).

Got in an easy 2 yesterday, 5 and weights this morning. No data - my Garmin has it, but SportTracks is having some issues reading it. Grr.

Well, I made it through the week-end.

I ran the Royal Family 5K on Saturday and the Princess Half Marathon on Sunday. I'm quite sore today but I made it. I averaged 14.12 minute miles. Since I was shooting for 15 minute miles for my very first half, I'm quite happy with my time.

Don't forget to record double distance and time for your race events!

Hooray for our Goofy racers this weekend! Great job!

I got 1.5 mile in tonight. Wanted to go further, but had to bail the kids out of afterschool care.

Nice job this weekend everyone! Look at all the double miles the Goofs racked up!!

Steve, sorry about the fall. That sucked I bet. When I did B2B last year, someone stepped on my shoelace at the first water stop. I didn't fall but it tweaked me royally to have to pull out and retie. I cannot imagine if I fell...:rolleyes1

Vicki, nice job in Disney over the weekend! I hope you met lots of other WISHers. Did you get a chance to meet Angie? She is such a super sweetie!!! I hope you got hooked up with the other Goofs down there.

Liz, please come torture me and tell me how much fun Girls Weekend in WDW was. I thought about you all so many times during my LR...

Everyone else, sorry abbreviated post. We are behind on work which means I am being watched...not this early...yet...:surfweb:

I got in 4 miles yesterday. They were really slow ones due to being a little sore from my LR but I got them done and that is what counts. I was thinking yesterday that, after my LR this weekend, I will have completed half the distance of the full 26.2 and 1 more mile than I have EVER done before. :scared: Yeah, that's a little scary in itself!

Today is 4 miles and girls to the gym day. I will end up on the elliptical to save myself from 3 teenage girls giving me "the face" while I am finishing up on the TM. Anyone with a teenage girl knows what "the face" looks like. Just multiply it x3 and you can see why I run faster at the gym. :lmao:

Have a great day everyone and know I am here in spirit!!!! :flower3:

Hi everybody! I'm back from my weekend away in Florida and it's still cold here. I could swear that the weather was supposed to be good here this week!

I had fun and got slightly sunburned--somewhere along the way my sunscreen got misplaced.

Cheered for the half on SUnday with Suzanne. Took some pictures which I will upload after I clean them up--gotta make them look pretty!

Saturday I drove up to Ocala to 1) watch my niece ride and 2) run the Southwest Ocala Rotary 5k. My running since the DIsney half has been focused on running a faster 5 k. My PR was 27:28, and the training plan had me thinking that I might be able to go 26-ish. The course was basically flat--isn't mostly everything in Florida? My B-I-L ran, although he hasn't been running recently,, so I told him I was planning to race it and took off. Thought I went out too fast when I saw the 1st mile go by in 8:11! It was an out-and-back, and I stopped for water both times. My B-I-L saw me while I was going back and he was still going out and yelled to me that I had to beat the 3-legged dog who was running just ahead of me. That gave me a good laugh. The dog was actually fast, his human was just slower! Anyway, I finished--and I think the course was a little short, I mean it had to be --in 24:16!!! 7:50/mile pace. Once again, where the heck did that come from! I knew I must have been racing, because I got that same "Why am I running and what makes me think I can ever run a Marathon" thing going in my head. Apparently, this can happen when I am running faster than expected and therefore working really hard.
So I came in 2nd in my (small) age group and got a little medal.

Happy me!

Maura

Good Morning Everyone!

Monday was an hour spin class, 3 mile run in 30 minutes and 1/2 hour with personal trainer

Tuesday- 75 minute fitness yoga and I am going back for a 1 hour spin class. I will try and fit a quick ride in but time is tight today. I am finally meeting with an ortho specialist to figure out what is up with my injury. Fingers and toes crossed it won't be something too serious.

Mike and Lisa: Last year we only double the race mileage not the time. Is it different this year? Just wondering since I have a 1/2 this Sunday.

Beth

...how about park miles, they are not at training pace, do they count?

Hi all!

Today I did my first speed work in almost 3 months. I am so tired, its hard to lift my fork to eat my lunch.

great job on all the races! I feel lame that I am not competing in anything for another 5 weeks. Last year I ran 3 half marathons in the spring. I just didn't have it in me this year. Thanks for posting your race stories - they are very inspiring.

Take care all!
Cecilia

Angie...you made it back!! Hope the feet are better. On Sunday morning, I decided I wasn't moving from my cheering spot until I saw you and then there you were, big smile coming around the bend! You rock!!! After the last lady came through, I was walking back towards my car but saw Matt with his big hat and gloves near the 13 mile sign so I decided to walk over there and see if you had come through there yet. He said he had not seen a Wish shirt in a while so I hung out there until once again, here you came around the bend like a true champ. I had alot of fun cheering that day and can't wait till the next one!!

Hello Goofy Guys and Gals! Thought I'd stop by and check in with my buds.

A couple of shout-outs. First, to anyone who did the Princess this weekend: I'm almost over the jealousy. ;) Congratulations to you all, and I know you have a great time. :cheer2:

And, really, congrats to everyone who had a race this weekend! There were so many of you! :cool1:

Lisa: Your training for the CMM marathon is going swimmingly. (Okay, wrong sport, but you get the idea.) Just think--each LR is going to be a whole new experience for you. Cool! I'm glad you and Patrick will be running together, as you make a good racing team. I hope the chiropractic visit is just a regular appointment.

Cecilia: I'm sorry and I do empathize, but your anecdote about DH and training and eating is hi-LAR-ious! :rotfl2: Watch out for those migrating fat cells. You've got such a great base I'm sure you'll bounce back into LRs quicker than DH can inhale his dinner.

Steve: I didn't even know there was a Castaway Cay 5K. Thank you for spreading the word! Not that it matters, but I feel a little closer to you just knowing you're considering a sports bottle of margaritas. :rolleyes1
Congratulations on so much about your Foggy Bottom 10-mile event: your racing anniversary, your weight loss, your sub-9 mm, and your placement in your AG. I do hope your knee heals quickly.

SAHD: Woot, woot! I know you're being analytical about your race, but it sounds to me like you scored a great time and placement. I'm just in awe of you speedsters.

UP_Disney: Congrats on your very 1st half. You blew your projected pace out of the water! What a great way to celebrate that inaugural event! And you did the 5K, too! :woohoo: Wow!

Shan: How's your recovery going?

Kim (or is it Kimberly?): But you got 1.5 in. You didn't just bail on the run. :yay:

Maura: Okay, so you're the poster child for how speedwork actually works. Look at how much you shaved off your 5K! Congrats on your AG placement. Happy you indeed! Question: did you beat the 3-legged dog?

GroovyGirls: Good luck with your appointment--I hope the specialist has some good news for you.

Angie: Congratulations! From what Suzanne said, you rocked it!

Suzanne: Thank you for being out there and cheering. Your smile just lights up your post, and I can imagine it's even brighter in person! :goodvibes

I know I missed people...next time!

Debra - Thanks for the congrats! You're welcome to use my sports bottle idea any time you like. Hey, tipsy minds think alike! pirate:

I think I'll have to substitute my energy bar for a giant chocolate chip cookie as well. I need to remind myself I'm on vacation!

Maura - Great job on your 5K. That's an awesome pace! I've been passed by many interesting sights but a three-legged dog is a new one! :dogdance: I hope you eventually got past him. Maybe he needed to wear a cone to add some wind resistance to make it a fair race. :rotfl:

With my knee still sore from Sunday, I didn't do anything active yesterday and resumed light exercise today. My knee feels 100x better. I did 30 minutes on the exercise bike this morning and 2.6 sloooooooow miles on the treadmill tonight. My thighs are pretty sore from really pushing the pace but I otherwise feel pretty good.

I doubled my time as well as distance for the race. Let me know if I need to correct this. Last year we were doubling both on the Rabbits.

Happy Wednesday, all. I had a so-so workout this am. Supposed to do 6 x 800 for speedwork, but only did 4 x 800 instead. Just wasn't feeling it, so didn't push it. I guess since I hit my goal this past weekend, I am needing a new one----fast! Should get into tri training now, so better drag out the books and settle on a training plan by this weekend.

Steve Glad you knee is feeling better.

Angie So glad I got to see you at the finish line on Sunday--I was really looking to say hi!

Just posted my dog picture on Hakuna Matata thread. Anyone else?

Hi all-

The official diagnosis is pes anserine bursitits.

I am not too thrilled with the person I saw. His plan was rest (which I have been doing since October) and a steroid injection after I get back from eventing camp. When pressed for details like- when can I run again? His response was- it's different for everyone. Are we talking days, weeks, or months- 'it's different for everyone'. He made me feel like I was a demanding lunatic but all I want to know if if and when I can return to normal for me.

Anyone have any experience with this condition? I am so frustrated

Today 2 hours of riding, 3 mile run and 1/2 hour with personal trainer.

Hugs to you Joanne. Can you get a second opinion or atleast go to a different doctor who will try and give you answers?

Hi All.

Today I started hill training. Ever notice that Hill is a 4 letter word?

Debra- thank you. I didn't feel much bouncing back today.

Joanne - That Dr doesn't sound like he was much help. How terribly fustrating. I hope you can find the answers you need soon.
