Super Goofs on Parade: Foward...MARCH!

Hi Goofs,

45 minutes on the bike for please and a few other sit ups and upper body weights. Total time 50 minutes.

6 miles on the bike ~~ good for me.

Still have a problem with water in the basement. I think it is going to be a rough spring. The sun was out today though!

Have a great rest of the week and I plan/need to get back on track. It helps me physically and MENTALLY.

Lynn:cool1:

Morning Goofs!

It was a yucky, rainy, slushy, sleety day here yesterday. DH went to the grocery store with me because he had nothing better to do. He wanted to run a few errands and I let him drive. What a mistake that was. He drove my car right off the road!! It was just a controlled oops but I guess from now on, I will drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :lmao:

Cecilia, I hear you on the four letter word. I have hills back in my workout starting Monday. Yay me!!

Lynne, totally understand the mental part of working out. It is my "quiet" time of the day.

Joanne, I agree this doc did not sound very helpful. I fully believe that, as athletes, we need to find athletic doctors. They seem to understand our take on life better. DH is under strict instructions if I ever injure myself who NOT to take me to if I am delirious on pain meds. :rolleyes1 I would do some net research on the condition if I were you. There should be some good info on the mechanism and ways to help strengthen/treat the condition.

Beth, race miles are doubled still. Everything is the same as last year. Good luck on your race this weekend!

Angie, I did could park miles on my vacation. You are walking for long periods of time, sometimes briskly and it is definitely a workout!!

Mike, miss you!!! :flower3:

Maura, holy fast girl!!!! I can only hope to run that fast...ever. I dislike the 5K distance myself for that very reason, I don't run fast enough!!!! Great job!

Everyone else, has anyone seen spring??? Anyone????

Today for me is 4 miles and girls to the gym. I did not sleep well last night (or the last few nights) due to a sinus thing that is interrupting my sleep. I cannot tell if it is allergies or if I have caught something so I am treating both. It does not seem to be working though... I am happy to report that I am officially 4 pounds from my goal weight now and liking my new eating regime. It is working great with less hunger and crashes from said hunger. I am also not ravenous after my runs which is a win in itself!

Have a great day Goofs and, if anyone does see spring, could you send it my way?????? :upsidedow

SuzanneThanks for the photos--the flowers are beautfiul. That's probably one of my favorite things about goinf to DIsney--the beautiful landscaping.

Cecilia Hope the hills are going well. (Although can they ever really go "well"--I settle for "okay, they're done"!)

Joanne I second the thoughts about finding a doctor who understands your situation and what you want out of it. When I had my ITB issue, I saw an ortho who was not empathetic. Switched doctors to one who said "I assume you're going to keep running, so here's what will happen/here's what we do). The diagnosis from both was pretty similar, but the attitude of the doctor made a world of difference.

As for me, weights at the gym today. Looking for a tri plan this weekend. Sorta late starting that training, but no worries. My tri goal is to finish a sprint tri, and for some reason I feel like I can do that. (Now watch me get proved wrong!)

Maura

I did it. I signed up for the full in January. I'm going to go pass out now...

Had to go out of town for a few days last week, leaving tomorrow until Wednesday.

Got in about 1:50:00 on the bike, 31 miles.

TTYL goofs...miss you guys!

Too many hills too soon.....

Ran my third day of hills. Started off great, 3 miles in 27 minutes mostly up hill. Then on the down hill I started having pain on the outside of my right knee. Classic IT band issue. Bummer. Ran/walked the down hill part in 45 minutes and I am now ricing the ol leg to see if I can heal the knee up quick.

I have NEVER had an issue with my knees so this was a real eye opener. I can not believe anyone even tries to run with knee pain. wow.

We get many more injuries and we may have to change our name to the Super Gimps. However, I am confident that with a little TLC and some patience I will be back to the hills without too many missed workouts.

Megan - Congratulations! You will be fine. Just remember that you have lots of time to train so take it slow and steady. It will be an amazing experience and you will be SO happy that you did it.

Suzanne -I am so filled with envy that you have such beautiful flowers. I am still looking at piles of white stuff and a busy couple of weekends with all the ice and snow storms we had this year. My dog, Bella, is no help-yuck!

Megan- will you be joining me in the back of the pack? It's my favorite spot!

Cecilia- one of the preventative measures for pes anserine is no running up/down hills. Hello...I live in NH- its one big hill!

To catch up- Thursday was a 1 hour spin class and 1/2 hour on the ball doing core stability work. I dragged poor DH with me- so sad- I kicked his butt!

Friday was a special March Madness spin class for 1 hour. Kicked DH butt again but who's counting (okay me but he is outside running 9 minute miles on a spectacular pre-spring day while I sit here wishing I was out there too)

Okay I will not be posting for 1 week- I am off to Aiken, South Carolina to get ready for the show season! 5 fun filled days of adult riding camp- dressage, cross-country, and stadium jumping! I am hoping to do better this year. For those unfamilar I had a really bad fall- cervical neck injury, concussion, partial rotator cuff tear plus bragging rights to the worst contusion I have ever seen and I have seen some horrific injuries while working in healthcare! Wish me luck!!!

Take care all, be safe, and have fun doing it!

Joanne

Joanne,

Yup I'll be at the back of the pack. I put down 6 hours for my estimated time. I don't think that is too optimistic since I've got 10 months to get there.

I will also be going to get some new shoes in a few days. I might hop on the TM tonight, but if not, I'll get on it tomorrow. I plan on watching a special on WE TV that one of the girls on the wedding boards is in. I believe it is on at 4 pm. I can put that on while I run and DBF will leave me alone in the room. LOL!

Morning Super Goofs!!

Suzanne, thanks for spring! :flower3: I can almost smell the flowers from here. Hmmm, maybe I should get closer....

Megan, yay for you!! :woohoo: You will do fine, just believe in yourself!

Mike, thanks for popping in and letting us know you are still alive and well. We miss you too...:surfweb:

Joanne, PLEASE be careful this year!!! Have fun and all but just be careful!!!

Cecilia, heal quickly. I so don't want to change the team name... Have I mentioned how much I dislike hills...you just gave me another reason!

Everyone else, :grouphug: You are out there....right?????

As for me, yesterday was a total wash. At 2 a.m. on Saturday morning I woke up violently ill. Somewhere along the line I contracted norovirus in my travels and it picked then to surface. Personally I think the hot wings from the night before might have scared it out. And no, hot wings don't taste good the other way...:sad2: What a waste of good wings and beer.... So I got elected to take DD14 to her 3 hour field hockey practice, then home, then a call asking why I was not at the snowmobile club picnic, then 2 same size women on a sled for 1 to the picnic (DD14 drove) stand around in a field feeling miserable drinking lots of water and, finally DD14 says she is tired and bored and could we go home. Oh wait, let me come with you seeing as you can't cross the road alone on a sled....:rolleyes1 I slept for 3-1/2 hours after which the family woke me up to make dinner. My 14 today scare me to say the least. Yes I will take my phone and have DH ready to pick me up at any point. Yes I will go slow and yes I will pay attention to my body. I actually didn't have it as bad as some so that is a plus and I drank lots and lots of water to stay hydrated. Thank goodness for having Accelerade in the house on a regular basis right????

Take care Goofs and stay well everyone. And for goodness sake, stay away from the norovirus.....:scared1: :scared1:

Hey there Goofs! I am still here. I was sick most of the week, with the flu, but I am feeling much better and I worked out on Friday and yesterday.

I was supposed to do 7 miles this morning, but my legs are a little sore from running the last two days, and since I have a big hockey game tonight, I will wait until tomorrow for my 7 miler.

Megan--Congrats! on signing up for the full! It is awesome, you have plenty of time to train and get ready, and it will all be worth it in the end!

Lisa--hope you feel better soon!

Cecilia-Glad to hear you got into the Peachtree, I was reading about all the glitches that people were experiencing this morning on Facebook, several of my buddies on there were trying to get in, but it looks like everyone finally got in!

To everyone I missed....sorry!! Gotta get ready to head to a St. Patty's Day parade!

And I forgot to add.....I registered for the lottery for the NYC Marathon this week!!! I am keeping my fingers crossed that I get in!

For those of you that thought the Goofy registration fee was crazy....the NYC marathon is $171 plus $11 to enter the lottery!!! It is a good thing I live close by and won't have to pay for a hotel/transportation, because it would be EXPENSIVE!! But, since NYC is really the only marathon I want to do besides Disney, I had to sign up!!!

DH and I finally got into the Peachtree, too! Started trying at 7 AM and kept getting error messages. Took a little over an hour before we both were able to get thru. Sooo, I finally have a race to motivate me. This should be perfect timing for me as far as my recovery. :woohoo:

Megan Congrats for signing up for the full. I haven't worked up the nerve yet.

JoanneHope your riding goes well and take care!

Cecilia & Shan Glad you goth got into Peachtree.

Hi to everyone else.

I ran a few outdoors today--first time all year, and in shorts and a t shirt, no less. Took the dog--always an experience. Tomorrow I start tri training--will have to juggle things around to work it in the way I'd like.

Off to cook corned beef, boxty and cabbage--I have to work late on Tuesday, so we are having St Patrick's day today.

:stitch: 'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:

Most WISHers are back from the Princess half, and many of us are going through Disney withdrawal in one form or another....

So, to spread a little PD pixiedust: that will keep everyone moving forward with a Tiggerish bounce in our training steps, tomorrow's mixer question is:

Who or what is your favorite Disney character, and why?

We hope that you feel inspired to post some light-hearted Disney memories on the Team 'Ohana thread. Pictures--from races, recent trips, childhood experiences--and stories are welcomed. And if your favorite character is a Pixar one--or gasp, from some other studio--feel free to share that as well.

and then deleting history.

Got in 62 minutes, 7.2 miles on the elliptical.

Can someone please update the spreadsheet with that number?

I hate being away from the family...today was my youngest son's fifth birthday, and I had to fly out....

I'm hopeful that I can work it to get home early from this trip, either late Tuesday night, or early afternoon Wed.

Mike (I know, its pathetic, I'm in New Orleans and should be having fun...but I'd rather be playing cards with my kids. Who else will teach them that 8 + 3 = Jack?

Megan - Congratulations for signing up for the full. I'll be registering for the full too once I get to my initial goal weight (only four pounds to go!) I'm making it my reward. How can punishment be a reward? :confused3 I'm definitely treating it as an overall experience instead of a race. I'll be stopping many times for pictures and probably even video.

Laurie - Good luck getting in to the NYC!

Cecilia and Shan - Congratulations for registering for the Peachtree. That's a bummer about all the glitches. Does it normally fill up really quickly?

Stay healthy and heal quickly everyone!

We've been busy with cleaning and planning for a friend's baby shower today so I haven't exercised much this weekend. I sure hope there is a break in the rain as I'm getting really sick of my treadmill. I've got an 8-mile LR scheduled for tomorrow.

On the race front for me, I just registered for the first half of the San Francisco Marathon in July. I'll be doing the Half Marathon that starts near Fisherman's Wharf, crosses the Golden Gate Bridge and back, and finishes in Golden Gate Park.
