I need some help. I am hosting a super bowl party for the first time. I am needing it somewhat budget friendly. Looking for a mixture of finger foods and simple snacks. A few healthy things could be mixed in. I do have a crockpot.

So let me hear some good recipes and all your wonderful ideas....

It is really appreciated.:)

Go to allrecipes.com and pull up chef John's spinach and artichoke dip. My best friend made it for Christmas and I asked her to bring it to Superbowl. Yummy!

That old standby, Hot Crab Dip.

http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Hot-Crab-Dip-2/

I was looking in an old book of mine today and saw my recipe from this from the mid 90's made on a dot matrix printer! :rotfl:

I made a resolution to myself that I would make this the next time I have to bring an appetizer somewhere.

Carroll Shelby's Chili Kit. It says to do it on a stove top but I have done it in a crock pot and it comes out great and it keeps it warm for the party.
Have Fun

1 block of Velveeta
1 can Ro-tel diced tomatoes and chilis
1/2 pound browned and crumbled sausage

Put all 3 ingredients in the crockpot on low and in about an hour its ready, just stir :stir: Delicious and easy!

hot cheesy onion dip

1 cup of chopped onions
1 cup of mayo
1 cup of grated cheese ( any type.....i use parmesan)

mix........bake at 350 till bubbly and slightly browned.........
serve with crackers

A big pot of chili is always good for a superbowl party!

Also some finger food apps: mozz. sticks, cheese and crackers, cut up veggies (celery, carrots, broccoli) with dip.

I do the Buffalo Chicken Dip for most of our parties, it's a huge hit!!
What about an artichoke dip? Salsa, guac, chips, regular onion dip with chips or bread. Get some different cheeses and put them on a plate with salami and pepperoni.
And yes, chili is always good as well. :)

How many people are you having over for the party? I find for Superbowl parties is just easier to put out a simple meal instead of several appetizers which can be come expensive. We've done different things every year for our parties.

This year I am purchasing a few packs of drumsticks and making up several coatings(bbq, breadcrumb crunchy, hot wing sauce, and some sticky asian sauce) I will bake these up Saturday for reheating on Sunday and put them out on platters with backups in the oven on warm. Will be served with loaded mashed potatoes. We have people and tvs everywhere so no one will be crowded around on table or tv.

I will also make a veggie chili in the crockpot to serve with different toppings.

For dessert I am making some chocolate cookies/brownies cutout in football shape with white icing laces. We will have a carton of ice cream for those that want it.

I have friends that will bring dips and some fruit salad.

You can reduce fat and make things healthier in just about anything you are interested in making.

Nacho Cheese Dip

1 lb. Velvetta, cubed
1 can chili without beans
1 can chopped green chilis
1 green onions, chopped

Put all in a crockpot and let melt -- low for a couple of hours. Serve with tortilla chips.

I have 8-10 people. So not a really large crowd. They are not picky eaters. They pretty much go with the flow and never complain. You have a nice simple meal there. Thank you for the meal tip.:)

This is exactly what I was going to post. I use ground beef in place of sausage. Huge hit with people & super easy.

Sliced sausages or cocktail sausages in the crockpot with a jar of grape jelly and a bottle of BBQ sauce. Heat the sauce on the stove and pour over the sausages. Yummy!

A sandwich tray with ham & cheese, Turkey and cheese and roast beef. Cut into fours. My family love chicken salad sandwiches. But they are a lot of work to prepare.

Seven layer dip is always a hit. We also place a block of cream cheese on a plate and pour pepper jelly over. Serve with crackers or fritos.

I may have to give the sausages with the grape jelly a try before hand. I have heard it is so good. Thanks for reminding me of that.

Another twist on the lil' smokies is mixing grape jelly and mustard together (my family likes 3/4 jelly to 1/4 mustard). I heat/mix it in a skillet, then add the smokies and cook for a bit and finally put it in a crock pot on warm.
I would never have tried this on my own but my MIL made it once and it has been a big hit ever since.
