Super Bowl party ideas

Wings of course!

I like spinach dip in the bread bowl...but for Superbowl I've made the bread myself. I get the dough ready made at the grocery store, shape it into a football and pull off a little dough to make 'laces' then egg wash it. After I cut out an oval in the center for the dip I leave the top along the side. It looks cute!

And my new recipe this year that is my guy's fave is sugar weening. Recipe is in the cooking forum. They are TO DIE FOR!

I found some football themed plates, cups, etc at target for 50% the other day. Other than that I will pick up some Colts napkins and a balloons once they have them at the party store next week.

for food I normally make a pepperoni roll, buffalo chicken dip, queso cheese dip and chips and a sandwich roll..

:yay:GO COLTS! coming to south fla again for another superbowl:yay:

I made a buffalo chicken dip the other day that everyone loved! Don't know where I put the recipe but got it from recipezaar online!

We are doing fajitas. The Mexican market here has pre-marinated meat that's not crazy expensive. Plus they make fresh tortillas onsite. We have done them for big parties before and the last time we had a cookout at least one person expressed disappointment that we didn't have them again.

I'll also make some Mexican rice from the Grengo's Guide to Mexican Food or something like that cookbook we have.

Someone is bringing queso and others will bring chips and salsa and dessert.. Just trying to figure out how to precook the fajita meat and keep it warm in the crockpot without drying it out!!

We're trying the sugar weenies this year - they sound yummy! And the football bread bowl - will do this too - I make our bread almost every day anyway, so this will be a fun twist. Will make a good dip to go in...haven't decided on the flavor yet. Maybe I'll try that Buffalo Chicken one!

I'm doing our regular baked brie in pastry (with cinnamon and walnuts) - there'd be a riot if I didn't include this - with a cracker assortment. A few other hors d' oeurves/snacky things and we'll probably just go with meatballs in the crockpot (in the chili sauce/grape jelly mix) and fresh-baked rolls for the "real food." We've learned - we always eat so much of the other stuff, keep the main (half-time) food minimal and basic, since everyone's already pretty stuffed!

For dessert this time I was thinking of chocolate mousse served with Pepperidge Farm Milanos (saw a huge bag of them at BJs containing several flavors!) - taking the easy way out here for a change.

Since the Patriots aren't in it this year....we're primarily watching it for the commercials! And tradition...we're on our 10th annual SB party!

I'm making chili and baked potatoes. Gonna scrub, and wrap in foil a bunch of potatoes and throw them in the oven well before party time. Then I'll set up a potato and chili fixins bar with cheese, sour cream, bacon bits, onions, etc.

Spicy Chicken Dip:

1 velveeta cheese
1 8 oz cream cheese
1 8 oz sour cream
1 cream of chicken soup
2 large cans of chicken
1 clove of garlic
1 small onion
1/2 green pepper
1 4 oz jalepeno peppers

Melt cheese, c. cheese, s. cream in micro til smooth. Put this mixture and all other ingrediants in crock pot and stir. Cook til heated through. Serve with taco chips.

We have wings, pizza, potato skins, various chips and dips and something sweet. Normally have way too much food.

buffalo chicken dip:

2 4oz blocks of cream cheese
1 cup of franks hot sauce
1 cup of ranch dressing
20 oz of chicken.(I use canned chicken from costco)
1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese

blend all together in a mixer. heat at 350 for approx 1 hour and serve with chips.

pepperoni roll

one frozen bread loaf- let thaw
2 cups of mozz cheese
1/4 lb of pepperoni

roll out loaf and layer the above
roll and pinch seams. coat the top with egg and cook at 325 for 45 minutes.

These are divine!!

Honey Chicken Wings

16 chicken wings (about 3 lbs)
1 c. honey
½ c. ketchup
½ c. soy sauce
2 tsp. vegetable oil
2 large garlic cloves, crushed and minced
Pepper (optional)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cut off bony tips of wings. Cut each wing in half at the joint. Place in a single layer in a shallow baking dish. In a medium bowl, stir honey, ketchup, soy sauce, oil, garlic and pepper until blended. Pour over chicken pieces turning to coat. Bake for 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 hours or until browned, basting occasionally.

Once they are baked, I put in a crock pot on low. Keeps them warm.

P.S. I was born, raised, and still live in Pittsburgh. I recall the days of never having won a Super Bowl, so I am rooting for the Saints to win this weekend. What's not to love about a team that wears black and gold? Go Saints!! I have to add that I chered just as strongly for the Colts the year they won.
