Well, we will be at MK super bowl monday. This was really the only day that worked out for us since our trip is short and we are not park hopping. We plan on arriving early and have an early dinner ADR at CP. My question is, if crowds pick up late afternoon/early evening what attractions would you suggest riding. We have the line apps loaded and will use those, but looking for suggestions from those who have experience with heavier crowd days (although I see the first week of Feb is generally low crowd anyway, so not sure how bad it will actually be).

TIA :)

I would save the high capacity attractions for later in the day. Philharmagic, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, etc.

Depending on whether or not you have magic bands and need/want to do any meet & greets, your morning should be dedicated to doing Space Mnt, Thunder Mnt, Enchatnted Tales with Belle, Peter Pan, Pooh.

All depends on your group demographic though and what your preferences are,

Why do you think it will be a heavier crowd day?

Easywdw is giving it a 4 though the MK is an avoid park. I know there maybe the superbowl MVP parade but I have never heard of that effecting crowd levels.

Josh is giving the overall crowd level a 4/10, but that is encompassing all parks, but just MK.

A 4/10 at the most recommended park is different than a 4/10 at a non recommended park.

Magic Kingdom is going to be busy today. Mondays are usually the second busiest day of the week at the Magic Kingdom, second to only Saturdays, for a variety of reasons. First, a lot of people travel over the weekend and visit Magic Kingdom on their first full day. In most instances, that day is Monday. Second, Mondays often feature longer hours, Wishes Fireworks, and Main Street Electrical Parade, when other days during the week have shorter operating hours and don’t offer the Electrical Parade. Anyone who wants to see the evening entertainment will have to visit on a day when it’s offered, like most Saturdays and Mondays. Each of the next two days will be less attractive without the Electrical Parade scheduled. You could have success in the morning from 9am to 11am or so, but you’re much better off waiting until tomorrow or Wednesday to visit for the entire day. If you would like to see the Main Street Electrical Parade, your best bet is always an evening Park Hop over to the Magic Kingdom so that you can spend the majority of your day at a recommended Park with low crowds and still have the opportunity to enjoy Magic Kingdom’s nighttime spectaculars. For optimal Parade viewing, find a spot along the Parade route in Frontierland or Liberty because those areas are much less crowded than Main Street, offer a view that is just as good, and require less of a wait to get a good spot. Without Park Hopper, you’ll want to arrive prior to Park opening and head straight for Fantasyland, the headlining Mountain rides, or another priority. Consider taking an afternoon break and then return in the evening around 5pm for dinner and the shows. If you’re spending two days at Magic Kingdom during the week, you may want to make one of those days a Parade day and then plan a second recommended day to hit the headliners and popular attractions. If you do that, use FASTPASS throughout the day today and spend as much time as possible on the less popular and high capacity attractions. Today is the best day of the week to see the 7pm Parade. This Thursday’s 9pm Parade will be less crowded, but the Park will be busier the rest of the day with the higher overall crowd level and morning Extra Magic Hour drawing resort guests.

Yes, I saw this on easywdw and contemplated changing our day at MK to Sunday with HS on Mon, but we will lose one ADR at HS that we didn't want to miss.

I wasn't sure what crowds were like the day after the Super Bowl. Do they do a special parade for it? I know the winning team's quarterback might make an appearance.

Also wanted to add that I had originally chosen MK for Monday because of the EMH on Sun from 10-12a (I read somewhere that sometimes that helps with crowds at the same park the following day--could be wrong though!).

The past few years they've had the MVP ride in their own mini-Parade. The time's have varied, though. I think last year it ended up being about 3 hours later than anticipated due to delays in getting Joe Flacco to the MK.

Yes they kind of do a parade. Its a special 15 minute, MVP shows up, they go down Main street and then the MVP leaves event.

I doubt even fans from the participating teams book trips just to see this parade.

The Super Bowl has no real effect on crowds, even when its held in Florida.

And this is what I wanted to hear :). I know it could be different, but was hoping crowds wouldn't be too effected with this going on. We were here in 2012 during the super bowl and were not at MK but didn't have ANY crowd problems during any of our park visit. Hoping for the same situation this visit. :goodvibes

I often wondered if the crowds actually get lighter around kickoff time, as people head over to ESPN, or somewhere else to watch.

probably but heading over to ESPN would be a bad idea unless they have some sort of outdoor venue. Its been reported that you have to get there around 10:30 or half hour before it opens to have any chance at a table.

This year I think they are doing something where you can kind of get an ADR. You pay $50 for a reserved table and that money then goes towards your food and drink.

Just wondering if they do it this way so to not call it an admission fee. I think if they do other rights apply .

I was there last year and specifically went to MK for the MVP parade. After all, how often do you get up close to a Super Bowl MVP? :) It looked like there were plenty of other people that felt the same. Of the 4 days we were on site, that was the most crowded I found any of the parks. The MK parade route became filled with a lot of people wearing football jerseys. The central hub, where they film and launch confetti, was by far the most crowded. I didn't stick around after the parade, but took the monorail over to a very very quiet Future World in Epcot. It hadn't been busy in the morning, and I don't know if the numbers actually effected the ride lines, but there was a good crowd for the parade.

Peyton Manning will be in a parade in the afternoon, but it doesn't really effect crowds IME. We were there a couple of years ago when D. Brees was the MVP and it ws over almost as soon as it started.

MK was a ghost town on Super Bowl Sunday evening. Walk on rides all night.
MK was a terrible experience on Super Bowl Monday. The park felt packed. It was not any fun at all. We didn't care about the football thing, but it did look like lots of people did. We saw hundreds of football jerseys throughout the park.

My advice, if you can squeeze in a few hours Sunday night at MK, it is worth it.

We definitely wouldn't mind seeing Peyton (big fans!)

I think I am going to have to leave our plans as is. ADRs are nearly impossible to change, at least the ones we booked. Would love to do the Sun EMH but we don't have park hoppers. Here's to hoping the Monday crowds won't be maddening!

Hope for rain. :wizard:

Disney doesn't have some kind of contract with the NFL, do they? Does the Super Bowl MVP have to show up?

I suppose Disney throws enough money at the MVP that he's willing to attend. But what's another 100K or so when you're already pulling down 10 million+ per year? I think I'd rather stay another day in the host city or go back home to celebrate with family and friends.

We may be the only goobers in the world who do this, but my DH and I actually do! :wave2:

For what it's worth, we've never noticed exceptionally heavy crowds in the MK that day, even for the parade really. But the actual parade is kind of fun--the crowd is generally very friendly and happy and the pictures are amazing. We've also seen other ESPN personalities around the park and have seen player interviews being filmed in the MK. It's enough for us to make a long weekend out of it whenever we can.

Completely forgot about the parade. I guess it will be a go with the flow day. :cheer2:
