Looking for flights for our Jan disney trip, Sunwing has a pretty good price but to be honest I didn't even know they where still in business.

Does anyone have some experiences they can share?

Are they a reputable company do I have to worry about them still being in business in January?

Thank you

Kim

Thanks Ted for the info and the link. Maybe I will wait for a seat sale with AC;)

I used them this January and had no problems, other than a one hour delay on our way back cause the flight coming in was late. I too was skeptical of using them but this was a last minute, hurried, girls only getaway. The actual reason we choose to go for DD's birthday was because of the air fare. It was 19 bucks plus taxes, so for 250 bucks each from YYZ, we jumped on it.

To be honest, the in-flight treatment was great. Free head phones, hot meal with drinks, besides the snack of chips, hot towel and mint chocolates. It was awesome. I will be using them for an All Inclusive in July and hoping to enjoy their 'champagne' flight.

My advise would be to wait it out a bit as the prices might get better later in the year. I booked 2 weeks before departure.

Good luck!

I've used Sunwing many times and never had a problem. I would use then again in a heartbeat. Like PP said, inflight service is top notch!

From my experience, the only thing WestJet has better is the TV. :happytv:

I tried to use them.... Got insurance, then added 2 days to my trip. Then had to cancel. (I got a job and couldn't take the time; I was supposed to be in university and I was planning my first ever trip to Disney in December for the MVMCP). I cried when I had to cancel the trip. It was so sad. Then Sunwing refused to reimburse me anything or even give me a credit for my flight. NOTHING. I asked why I paid extra for cancellation insurance if I couldn't use it when I had to cancel. (They told me it was good as long as I cancelled in advance and it didn't matter the reason.) They said that I used the cancellation insurance when I added 2 days to the trip. I wouldn't have added the 2 days if they'd told me that. I won't use them now, obviously. But it's up to you. I just wanted to share my experience too.

I have lots of clients fly Sunwing and only report back very positive things! My DH flew them and loved them...

All airlines have their share of complaints..and even AC as reflected above, that said, AC was once again rated the 2nd favourite airline in the world recently sooo they must be doing something ok!!

How did I forget the little goodie bags for the kids:thumbsup2 My kids loved it as the only time they got stuff was on real long flights, so this was a bonus. They keep asking when we are going on Sunwing again.

I've flown with Sunwing on 2 trips (Toronto to Orlando). 2009 and most recently, Feb 2011. I had absolutely no trouble with them either trip. Their customer service during check-in and during the flight was perfect... I've never experienced better. The only issue I had was on my last trip back from Disney, the plane was 1.5 hour late leaving MCO... but that could happen with any airline.

Like others have said, you get hot meals, drinks and chips, goodie bags for the kids, free headphones for the movie, and chocolates when the plane is descending. The flight attendants are very attentive. I'd go with Sunwing again in a heartbeat. Since I had such a positive experience with Sunwing the first time, they were the only airline I looked into for my trip this past Feb (they were the cheapest too). :thumbsup2

We love Sunwing and wish they had more options out of Ottawa!!

We used them for a trip to the Dominican a few years ago. Nice, spacious seats with great leg room.. champagne, warm towelettes, etc.! It was great. Now, I am not sure if they have made cut backs since we flew, but I would not hesitate to fly with them again.

In fact, we are debating driving to Toronto for our Sept. Disney trip and flying with them.

At first glance the $50.00 one way fares on certain dates look good but the taxes and extra fees kill it. Total return with taxes $383.77, r
Fly out of Niagara Falls, Buffalo, Rochester or Detroit and save your $$$$

Checkout Directair from Niagara Falls to Lakeland airport for $145 return inc taxes. Just take a carry on bag and no extra fees. Must book by June 12th,

Although I agree with flying out of Buffalo can save you money, DirectAir doesn't fly to MCO. So be aware OP, that you would have to rent a car/take a cab to WDW from here.

You would need to weigh the costs and time involved over flying with an airline that goes directly to Orlando International Airport...

The one thing about Sunwing is you don't have as much option of flight times, They are a charter airline, so they don't run everyday of the week. My last trip they were not an option for me as we were returning on a Thursday.

Those of you who have flown with them, how is the leg room? I have really long legs, and have issues with my knees touching the seat in front of me on some airlines.

Sunwing is not thomas cook (sunquest is)

To be honest Ted...I think its a wee bit unfair to use the linked forum because....after all its for complaints !
Where is the boards for compliments ?(other than the few comments in this thread).
I would like to add my two cents.
I've used them 3 times and there is absolutely no problem in their service ,customer service and on-time service (no better or no worse then the more expensive competition). The only complaint I had (and its a minor one). The carry on baggage allowance was miniscule.

I don't think it's unfair at all. For me, all information is welcome. Good and bad. Personally, I can make a much more informed decision based on all of the information I can aquire. It's great when your flight goes well but it's nice to know what to expect when there are delays, etc.

Trust me, after what I just went through with Spirit Airlines out of Niagara Falls, I wish I had known about Ted's link. Live and learn.
