Sunshine Rewards or My Points?

When you're shopping, do you prefer to go through My Points or Sunshine Rewards? I'm really a rookie at both and can't really figure out which is best....

Definitely SR. You can cash out to paypal for cash or gift cards. There is alot of verstility and the gift cards are 1 to 1 so a $25 gift card costs 25 points.

I find that more often than not I can get higher point values at MyPoints. I have an account at Sunshine Rewards but I guess I am not a big fan of it. I only use it if that program offers more points that My Points. I don't sign up for services only to cancel before the trial period is up so I don't earn that way. I don't find that I have many clicks either for .01 or .02 so really I find it more labor intinsive than it needs to be for me.

I tried SR about 2 yrs ago--I got nothing from them. You get about .01 to read the emails, and it took forever to get points when I shopped thru them. I've been doing My Points for 3 yrs or so--you get 5 points just for reading most of the emails when you click thru to the site, and the points for shopping just seem to add up fast. I've gotten loads of gift cards from them. I just redeemed points for a Friday's $10 gift card on Tuesday, and by this Monday, I'll have enough to get a $10 gift card for Regal theaters. And if I hold on to my points, by August 1st I'll have enough for a $25 gift card to Fridays or the movies.

I love SR! They have the best selection of merchants and are constantly running increased cash back specials. I usually cash out for Disney gift cards, but I have also cashed out for Target and Regal cinemas. Paypal is also an option. But I prefer to save for Disney and have earned over $1200 in about two years. I do shopping and surveys - I don't do the freebie offers.

I don't shop through SR anymore at all, for several reasons.

First, they hold the purchase a long time before it clears to your account. Second, if you cash out for Paypal, you have to wait until the end of the month AFTER you cash out to receive your funds. Third, SR is the ONLY program from which I get Paypal fees deducted when I receive payment. None of the other programs I use do this. I'm not going to click every day and wait months for payment, only to have money deducted in fees! It's my understanding SR can't figure out why this is happening (??) but AFAIK, nothing has been done to change it.

For myself, I shop through QuickRewards first and foremost (fastest crediting and payouts of any program I've ever used) and then MyPoints if a merchant isn't available through QR.

I have accounts with both. I choose SR first, but there are some merchants that SR doesn't have that MyPoints has. I get bonus emails, etc. from MyPoints. I do daily surveys at SR. So I favor one but use both. I was a rookie, and couldn't figure things out at SR, but I started reading in the forums and started figuring it out. Keep with it! Plus, I went to college with the owner of SR, so I feel more obligated to use that one.

I usually prefer QR over both. However, when I want to order from some sites where I have gotten my own coupon, I won't get credit through either QR or SR if I use any coupons other than theirs - then I use My Points because they don't care what coupons I use.

Well, it's certainly not unanimous! I went through My Points for this particular purchase. We'll see.... I need to get in better habit of going through at least one or the other for all online purchases, but I usually forget... like last week I bought something at overstock.com and didn't go through either site... bummer.......

I know you already purchased - but - I have Ebates, Mypoints and Sunshine Reward accounts. While the first two might have slightly higher cash back percentages on some merchants SR has customer service. I think that counts for something and I usually go there first.

I have been a member of SR for awhile but haven't figured out the surveys yet and haven't made much money. I get the most money back from shopping through upromise usually.

I have a friend who has made hundreds with SR- maybe I can invite her over for a tutorial day . She even knows the owner.

If you buy Disney giftcards through SR do you get cash back? And if so is it wiped out by shipping the GCs?

The merchants hold payments for longer, it seems, than SR holds payment from us.

An I know that a big huge enormous company that is getting into a program that gives cash back holds payments for even longer.

The paypal thing seems to be on paypal's end...I haven't cashed out for paypal in a few months, not since the change happened, but before then, I never had a fee b/c I had just a purchasing paypal account. Those with accounts that were business accounts would get fees. Now it seems to have changed, but it seems to be on paypal's policy's end.



Anyway, I use MP for clicks, and in the past I would do an offer (online encyclopedia for instance) or a bit of shopping when they weren't on SR. However, finally, Sunshine got REI onboard and I switched shopping from MP to SR for my REI stuff.

Since SR doesn't have many paid clicks at all, but MP does, that's why I do the clicks there as the bulk. It takes some time, but it does add up. Just redeemed for a $10 GC with ONLY clicks creating the points.

With SR I do my shopping, I just got back into surveys after taking a few months off, and when I see an offer I want to do (disney movie club, blockbuster, etc) I do it through them. I've earned FAR more (coming up on the 1K club) through SR than I have with MP.

No fees for cashing out for a Disney gift card, except 44 cents for postage. There is also an e-mail option that doesn't have any fees at all.

SR doesn't charge a fee for PayPal cashout, but some members have had fees taken out, probably due to the kind of PayPal account they have. I'm not really sure since I don't cash out that way.

I have made over $1200 on SR in about two years, and I am not one of the big time earners. If you are interested in earning more, check out the SR forums (as well as checking with your friend who has been successful). I make my SR money through surveys and shopping.

Some places allow cash back when you buy gift cards (Barnes and Noble is one), but I don't think Disney allows cash back on gift card purchases anymore. There is a section of the SR site that lists merchants who give cash back for gift card purchases.

SR is my favorite site, and I only do SR and Mypoints. I always shop through SR, unless I need a merchant that is not offered there. You can't beat the customer service there! I almost always cash out for Disney cards. When I do surveys, I do them through SR exclusively.

I use MyPoints for the paid clicks, printable coupons and buzzagent points, which add up quickly.

I really love both sites, and have done well with both, but for different reasons.

I always use QuickRewards if I can, they credit purchases fast and when I cash out for Paypal it comes FAST! If QR doesn't have the merchant I want, which is very rare, I go to MyPoints. There is a website out there that compares which reward site gives you the most reward for your purchase, but I can't seem to find it

The problem I have with my sunshine rewards, is that if a shopping order does not credit, you are SOL and have no recourse.
With my points, if you have a problem with a shopping order not crediting, you can email them, and they have fixed the problem and credited my account every time.

Also have to add that Tricia, SR's owner, is a big Disney fan. So she shows up on the DIS. Great customer service! I will admit, I wasn't so sure about the site, until I really started getting into it. They have contests that give me incentive to try hard for the surveys. I do the bonus emails, etc. through mypoints. But the Disney Gift cards rewards always make me return to Sunshine Rewards!
