I don't wear a ton of make-up, but I have to wear some or it would be too scary for others around me :) Do you put sunscreen on before your moisturizer, after your moisturizer, or on top of the finished make-up?? I have done it all ways and still have a tendency to burn. Maybe I need a different sunscreen for my face?

Should be applied in this order: sunscreen, moisturizer (if needed), then foundation. Coppertone has great non-greasy sunscreen for faces!

After moisturizer, I use clinique's city block sheer tint with spf 15. If I know I am going to be out in the sun for a long time, instead of moisturizer, I spray on clinique's spray-on sunscreen spf 45 and then top that with the sheer tint. The spray is a little oily so it can sub for moisturizer. A little powder to cut down on shine and you are good to go. I wore this system in the caribbean for 2 1/2 weeks this past summer and never burned (or really even tanned at all) even though I was outside all day (and I am pale, believe me!)

Being a pale-faced skin cancer survivor, i've tried everything too! What works for me is to put the sunscreen on first (I don't usually use a moisturizer when I use sunscreen, as sunscreen tends to be pretty greasy), then put the makeup on over it. Let the sunscreen 'sink in' for a little while (about 15 mins.) before putting on the makeup. I use SPF30 and wear a hat. Remember to reapply if it rubs off or washes off.

Having a skin cancer removed is no fun (especially when it's on your face!), so you are very smart to take precautions! Hope it works.

Sunscreen should go on first...then moisturizer if needed..then makeup. Most foundations now have SPF, so just check your bottles. I would also recommend wearing a hat or a visor for added protection. I am very fair complected and I wore sunscreen for faces (SPF 15) as well as my makeup also SPF 15 and a visor...I still got the pink nose and cheeks, but it wasn't as bad as the blisters I got while I was in Hawaii!

i have pretty dry PALE skin and I do sunscreen instead of my usual clinique moisturizer to keep my face from getting too greasy. i like No-Ad SPF 15

I love using tinted sunscreen. This way you don't have all the "layers" and it looks very natural. Murad makes a great one...and it's oil free so it will not clog your pores.

Wow. It's like I have my own panel of experts out there. I'll go with SPF30, no moisturizer, will wait a while and then put on the rest, and wear a visor and sunglasses. I lost a 26-year-old niece to melanoma. I take sun protection very seriously. Thanks everyone. Now can anyone tell me how to lose those last 5 pounds?? I am 5'6" and weigh 130, 1 pound more than when I got married 20 years ago today. I would love to get 5 more pounds off so I can eat my way through the World and not come back needing the next size clothes...

I can't help with the weight, but I use a moisturizer with 15 SPF and my bare minerals makeup also has a 15 SPF. As was already mentioned, a lot of foundations have sunblock in them. I used to burn, but using those products, have not burned in a long time.

Cover girl also has a tinted moisturizer with sunscreen. This is a "cheap" way to go if you don't normally need a sunscreen, and don't want to invest a lot of $$ in something fancy.

As for 5'6" and 130 pounds - that sounds about perfect to me. Don't stress.

Piglet
5'4" and 130 pounds... ;)

WOW - only 1 pound gained in 20 years?! 5'6 and 130 sounds perfect. When I wanted to lose 10 lbs, I started eating 1200 calories per day, and after I lost the weight, 1400 per day to maintain. I've kept it off for about 1 1/2 years now. At first it's kind of a pain to count all the calories, but after a while, you figure out how many calories are in most of the things you eat & you get used to it. Rather than watch the fat grams, carbs, etc., it's really all about the calories.

My face is also oily and i'm very fair -- have had a pre-cancerous spot taken off of my back. I put on sunscreen (Clarins for faces 35) let is dry for about 10 minutes, put on some loose face powder, and finish up with my Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation SPF10, then a little more face powder. It works great!

As for help with weight, depending on how long until you go, you might try weight watchers. I've had friends that only wanted to lose 5 or 10 pounds, and it really helped them, plus it's a healthy way of eating. I've lost more than 30 pounds, with 15 more to go, and I love the plan. It sounds like you have already been doing a great job on eating right, but might benefit from checking out the "point value" of some of your favorites, so you can see where you can cut a little to enjoy more on your trip. With all of that walking, you shouldn't have too hard a time eating a little more than usual.

Have a great trip!

I use a moisturizer with an spf of 15. I then put all my make up on and then spray my face (manufacurer does not suggest this) with the new coppertone aerosol spray. I think it is a 30. I close my eyes tight and pull my lips in (I use chapstick with an spf of 30 as well) and spray. This stuff works great for parts in your hair and your ears. I also spray my body with it.

I cannot stand to have sunscreen on my face, so I have an Avon moisturizer with SPF 30. It is great!

I am on Weight Watchers now and have lost 10 pounds....but I ate like a horse at WDW and actually lost 4 pounds. I guess with all the walking and water I drank, it didn't matter how much I ate! :cheer2:

I used Avon sunscreen SPF 45. I put my regular foundation on(SPF 15) but when we were at WDW Aug/Sept it was so hot that my face melted. Each day I did les and less makeup. Ended up just using sunscreen, loose powder and eyeliner.

Just remember that your SPF will only be the highest number you use--not the total of the products you are using
