Sunscreen question

We are taking our 2 y/o twins and 7 y/o to Disney World next week, and I KNOW we will keep them slathered in sunscreen. My question is this: Does anybody know of a non-greasy, kid friendly sunscreen? Every time I put our Banana Boat on their faces, they look greasy and it makes their hair stringy and look dirty, which is okay if they are going swimming, but not for our pictures at Disney World! Anybody know of some good sunscreen that just absorbs and you can't even tell it's on??

I love the Coppertone waterproof in a stick. It can look a little greasy in the hair, but the stick allows such great control & coverage I am much better about keeping it on the face. It also doesn't seem to have quite the shine to it. It's just so much easier than lotion and I don't worry about getting it in my squirmy DS eyes. It's also great for getting the tops of little ears! :thumbsup2 I can't wait to try it at Disney this year, before we called all our Disney photos "Shiny Happy People Pictures!":lmao:

I can't stand to wear sunscreen that feels like sunscreen. I [heart] Neutragena Micro Mist spray-on. You can't see it or feel it and it works perfectly. I can't even put into words how much I love that stuff. Neutragena also makes a non-oily lotion that goes on practically dry. Also good if you prefer a lotion. I prefer a spray, personally.

This is the first summer I have tried a sunscreen stick for my girls and I'm sold. It is so easy to put on and it doesn't have much shine. Plus it is so small and easy to carry. I would definitely suggest a stick.

I love the Waterbabies stick for DS's face. I use regular on his body, but the stick is just so much easier on his face.

I use the coppertone waterbabies stick for my DDs' faces and the coppertone kids lotion spray for their body. Works great and easy to apply! :sunny:

Thanks for all the replies! I'm going to definately try a stick on their faces and *hope* the don't look to messy! Thanks again.

Interesting. My biggest complaint with the Banana Boat spray has been that it always leaves me feeling greasy. That and after I spray it on, I feel like it still needed to be rubbed in and then leaves my hands all slippery.

Now, if I am using one of the sprays, I only use the Coppertone Continuous spray. It goes on nicely and evenly and I don't have to rub it in. So no greasy hands either. The only thing that I find is that I want to make sure to shower it off at the end of the day (which I would do anyways after a day in the parks) to make sure to get it off. But it works great and I haven't had any sunburn problems with it either. We have used the Kids one SPF30, and the Babies one SPF50 and both have been great!

For our faces though, I have started to use a stick also. Doesn't seem to move around when we get sweaty and the kids don't end up getting it in their faces as easily. For sticks, I use a Coppertone Babies stick or the Blanket Babies one and both have worked well for us.

We got lucky too. This year BzzAgent happened to send out some of the Coppertone spray as one of their campaigns and we got to try out the new one they have for kids that comes out colored so you know where it has been sprayed on, then goes colorless. Been great to help teach DS to make sure that he is fully covered with his sunscreen.

I use the neutrogena spray and it is not greasy at all! It is a micro mist so almost like water and even has a cooling sensation. We buy this for Disney and just spray on DD whenever needed!

Oh my gosh, thanks for the recommendation on the Neutrogena spray mist sunscreen! I LOVE it!!! I bought 2 bottles, plus Coppertone babies face sticks. I think we're all set. I'm so glad I asked...I would NEVER have tried the Neutrogena at $9.49 a bottle if I hadn't had a recommendation. I just tried it on and I just love it...not greasy feeling or looking at all! THANKS!

For faces, we use a sunscreen stick called "Dab On" by Ocean Potion. It's SPF 60. Instead of a greasy solid stick, it's a liquid sunscreen in a little tube the same size as the face sticks, and it's got kind of a mesh applicator. You just dab it on and rub it around with the applicator. It dries like a spray on sunscreen would, no greasiness or anything. We got it at Meijer.

The AVEENO spray can. hands down. best thing i have ever tried. you cannot even FEEL IT on them or yourself. and, the spray is it ...there is no rubbing in like w/ the coppertone sprays or other ones we have tried. i also put it on their heads to cover the part and you cannot tell. LOVE IT! bought ours at target.

Yeah! I am glad you got it. It is great, and that cooling sensation is SO nice when your under the hot Florida sun :sunny:

Have you tried Banana Boat Kids Dri-Blok? I love this stuff - smells good and dries non-greasy. I used it on myself during our trip last week - it looks greasy when you first put it on, but it dries very quickly and your skin feels dry to the touch. I really love it - I hate the feel of sunscreen, but I really don't mind this. It comes in a yellow bottle with a blue lid - Wal-Mart charges about $6.50 for 6oz. Label says "powder-dri technology" and "Sand Won't stick".

As much as I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Neutrogena spray on sunscreen, we've come to the conclusion that my girls and I are sensitive (or allergic) to something in them (perhaps the denatured alcohol that makes it dry so quickly???) Last summer we used it pretty much exclusively. I kept breaking out in a horrendous rash on my arms and legs that I concluded must be eczema (stings, burns/etc..)... by the time I got to see my derm last Oct., it was cleared up :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 I was fine all winter.... then in June, bought some more Neutrogena spray on sunscreen and the same thing started happening.... my 2 dd's are getting a similar rash though not as prevalent. We've not changed laundry detergents or anything else. I tried using a different sunscreen (rub-in) for 2 weeks and our rashes were gone... then I was in a rush the other day, so I just experimented with the spray again and viola-next day-RASH is back! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh! I love the convenience and the feel of it but now I'm back to square 1 (the Aveeno one does the same thing to me :guilty: :sad2: :sad2: )

My daughter my dad and myself are all reddish blondes with pale skin and every year we always burn horribly sunscreen or not but we have found that we can use the bullfrog quick absorb and one application usually last all day and is water and sweatproof...It absorbs instanly no grease..It comes in a stick also...I love it cause it does not make spots on my clothes or leave me greasy and shiny and best of all I DON"T BURN....:cool2:

I recently read an article about the continuous spray sunscreens. It said that not enough research has been done about them. The amount that is applied is often not enough (as with all sunscreens). You must be very generous with them and re-apply more often than with a cream.

We use a pump spray called Kinesyes(sp?). They have an adult and a kids version but they are both exactly the same except for the scent. My SIL has very fair/blonde kids and she even sprays it on their scalp. She says it does not make their hair greasy.

I found this sunscreen this year and love it, too!!! My kids are really fair - blond and freckles- and knock on wood, there have been no sunburns this year spending many many days at the pool! I can't say enough about it.

Does anyone here know of a sunscreen that can be used on your hair? I hate to wear a cap when touring the World, but my haircolor fades out after spending hours in the sun day after day. My hairdresser says she doesn't sell anything like that....
Thanks!:flower3:
