Sunscreen for Disneyland?

Normally we go to California during the winter months where the UV index is low enough that we don't need sunscreen. But I'm guessing there's a good chance I'll need some this year for late September, right?

Do you bring yours into the park so you can reapply throughout the day?

And sunscreen brand recommendations??

Gosh yes. Make sure it is a good one. Target makes some good ones at a reasonable prices and bring it into the park to reapply. September is hot here.

Yeah, I figured. Yuck. I hate the way sunscreen (mixed with sweat) makes me feel. Icky and gross. But it's a necessary evil. Especially when you have super fair skin like me!

I'm very much an indoors gal (except in the Winter and Fall) so I rarely have to use sunscreen.

You definitely need sunscreen in September. Neutrogena makes a great sunscreen that is called Ultra Sheer Dry Touch. My dermatologist actually recommended it to me. They sell it at all major retailers and you can even do an internet search and find some coupons sometimes. It isn't the thick white formula and goes on really smoothly.

A few years ago we tried Avon Skin So Soft + SPF 30 sunblock for the first time during our 5 days at DLR in August. It worked great, smelled great (every time we use it since then, my kids say, "It smells like vacation!", LOL!). Skin So Soft is a really great, SAFE, insect repellent (no DEET in the ingredients), so we were protected from both sun AND bugs.

We did not need to reapply during the day (and nobody got even the slightest bit pink), and that was with water rides and everything. My youngest was only 2 at the time, and the SSS protected his baby skin just fine. Also, my oldest son and I are very fair skinned and freckly, and we did not get burned at all. HOWEVER, we left the parks from about 1pm to 6pm, so we spent the worst sunlight hours inside our hotel. If you're going to be out all day, you might want to carry your sunscreen with you so that you can reapply it later if necessary.

We applied it while waiting in line at the gates...it helped pass the time in line, and saved us time in the hotel in the AM...getting 3 kids slathered in sunblock is time consuming!

Thanks for the suggestions. Are any of the ones mentioned those continuous spray ones? I like the prospect of that because it would be quicker and my hands wouldn't get all slimy.

Neutrogena does make a spray for adults and kids. The kids one isn't the Ultra Sheer (I don't think) -- I have not used either so I don't know how the work/feel.

Neutrogena makes a great sunscreen that is called Ultra Sheer Dry Touch.

I love this stuff! I hate the feel of slimy sunscreen and this is great. I put it on my face every day before I put on my makeup (we are in AZ). I don't even have to wash my hands off after I rub it in, it doesn't leave that slimy feel. I highly recommend it!

Not sure if Avon offers an aerosol SSS+sunblock. I just resign myself to having the lotion all over my hands because I have to rub it in on the kids. It would be easy to check, though...just go to Avon's website.

Another vote for Neutrogena Dry Touch...that stuff is amazing! You can reapply it throughout the day and it doesn't feel greasy, and it even stays on in the swimming pool!

I burn very easily and must use sunscreen. The neutrogena aerosol is great as is aveeno both aerosol and regular. I use the aveeno baby spf 60 cream.

Don't forget to put sunscreen on the backs of your ears! And if you part your hair, don't forget to put suncreen down the part line. My daughter and I learned these tips the hard way!
I use Eucerin Everyday Protection Face Lotion SPF 30 when I know I'm going to be in the sun for a long period of time. Love the way it goes on and feels. For the rest of my body, I use only Coppertone. Been using it for over 50 years and it has never failed me.

I always forget my ears too! My part is usually safe because I wear a hat during the day. But I do have a hard time remembering my ears.

I'm thinking about finding a bigger hat (dorky, I know!) instead of my usual baseball cap.

Don't knock dorky. I've got 2 caps with the flap that goes from ear to ear. I also have a broad brimmed hat for winter. (too hot in Az for summer time) Of course,we wear sunscreen here year round.

I recommend the Neutrogena spray for body and dry touch for face. Best sunblock I have ever used - not greasy and easy to reapply throughout the day.

Target's continuous spray just ranked really high in consumer reports. Their brand is "up up" or something. It has 2 arrows pointing up. They are usually on sale by the checkstand. It ranked higher than any of the name brands.

Our family must have looked really dorky, as we all wore hats with wide brims last September/October.
In New Zealand and Australia, our children learn "SLIP (on a shirt), SLOP (on some sunscreen), SLAP (on a hat) from an early age.
In the summer months, sunhats are usually a compulsory item of a school uniform and many schools will not allow children to play outside if they are not wearing one.

bullfrog makes some great products, (usually SPF 36) they have several that are in the "block" level (SPF 50) and they are waterproof and sweat proof.

they come in cream, jell, or spray. and they even have a solid stick that you can tuck in a pocket to reapply around the face, nose, and ears. (spf 36)

the stick is about the size of a womens lipstick.

I use them all the time, and take them to WDW when we go, or when we drive to DLR.

The feature that I wanted the most was the water/sweat proof. but found out they give good overall protection, even if at the swimming pool!!

Right now our Frys, which is Krogers or Ralphs in some areas of the USA, has a sale on Bullfrog products, buy 1 get 1 free! Plus there are $1.00 off coupons. I do like the stick for inside the park to apply on the kids noses and ears, especially.
Don't forget the sunblock chapstick.

I've been hearing a lot about the harmful chemicals and carcinogens in most sunscreens. I also heard about a website from the Environmental Workers Groups called "Skin Deep Database". They test all sorts of health and beauty products and rate them on a scale of 0-10...0 being best and 10 being worst.
Eek! The Neutragena rates a 7. We use Soleo and California Baby(no fragrance...which isn't just for babies.) HTH!

ETA: Looks like some of the Coppertone(Baby and sensitive) ones rate a 3, which is pretty good.
