Sunrise Safari

We will be spending four nights at AKV in late June and we are thinking about upgrading our room from Savanah to Concierge in order to take part in the Sunrise Safari. We are wondering if it's worth while investigating. We have done the Grand Gathering Safari package in the past and wonder if there is much difference. Thanks for any imput.

There are only five two bedroom lockoffs for AKV Concierge. If you don't already have it reserved or aren't already on a waitlist, the odds are against you to get this.

Thanks - I guess my chances of June 28-July 2 are only but a dream. Oh well, I had no idea there were such a small number of rooms.

Thanks everyone. We have a bit of a problem with some points. We have points that I am told must be used by November and can only be used for booking within 2 months of a trip. I had an incident in the fall where I was booking for our Xmas trip and was incorrectly advised from a CM and now have these points in limbo. She told me to book two rooms until I got eveything I needed and then on my next call I was told by a different CM that she shouldn't have done that and one room was cancelled and the point went back??? I have been told so many different things that I really don't know what is correct. Apparently the 34 points went back in my account from a change that ressie but now have to be used with restrictions. They tell me to book another trip or give them to family. If only it were that easy. I thought if I were to upgrade from Savannah to Concierge I would at least use up some of them. The last CM I spoke to told me to call 2 months before our June/July trip and reallocate the points from the 3 nights in Vero to use the 34 points. Apparently I can't use them to allocate the AKV portion because they were booked with 2008 pts. Am I confused????

You can only reallocate the points IF there is no waitlist for the accomodations that you are trying to get. What you really do is cancel your existing reservation and then rebook the other one. Once you cancel, your old reservation goes to the first person on the wait list. When you try to rebook, you go to the bottom of the waitlist if there is one.

We are staying on Concierge level at AKL in July. Same situation. Had a lot of bonus points to use up by August. We booked a 2BR for one night and a studio for 7 nights with requests for Savannah views. (duh! Almost forgot to say.. and also booked the Sunrise AND Sunset Safaris)

You might want to consider upgrading the room size to use up those extra points on top of doing Concierge level. We hated the idea of wasting any points and did a pretty good job of using them all up in the end.

We had a really nice CM that was patient with us and helped us with our crazy planning. Try to call back again and maybe they can help you work it out.

Thanks so much for the help. The last CM told me they couldn't do anything for me until the 2 month window which is on April 25 since our trip starts on June 25th. I guess I will call then and try to use some of the 34 points either with a larger room or concierge. I have so much more to learn. I guess I have to sit and wait.
