I am going in August and staying in the AKV concierge, I just got home and received an email from the AKV Concierge, they were able to book the Sunrise Safari for me. I am happy as it is popular and limited space is available. In fact they booked all my dining reservations for me which was great just emailed them my requests and they booked everything. I usually don't book dining reservations this far in advance but I will be there during free dining and I knew getting reservations would be hard.

That is great! We too will be staying at AKV Concierge in September during free dining. In February I had already submitted a request for the Sunrise Safari and today I submitted my request for dining. Hope it all works out.

Enjoy your Safari!!

You shouldn't have a problem, the IPO emailed me in April and due to a computer glitch (surprise) they didn't get my two previous emails I emailed them last week and they called me to get my credit card info and also to let me know I might want to book dining since my first day is the first day of free dining. I emailed them Friday with my dining choices and I got all the reservations I wanted and the times within 5-15 minutes of my preffered time. It was great not having to go through the hassle of calling the dining line, especially since I think it would have been a long hold since today is the first day you can book dining for the free dining promotion.

The concierge services seem really cool. Maybe we'll try that for our next trip (Kidani this time).

It was great not to have to worry about calling this morning to make a few ADR's that I want. Some of the places I wanted (Boma, LE Celier) are hard to get at times I like so it was awesome that I got every ADR I wanted.

I agree about the Concierge service being very convenient to use. We're going in September and I've e-mailed my requests, including doing the Wildlife Discovery Expedtion. I got a reply in which they've noted my requests, told me what day they'll be making the reservations and how I can contact them to give them the CC information for the expedition.

I also learned that they cannot buy the MNSSHP tickets because I need to do that to get the discount.

What is the Wildlife Discovery Expedition?

What is the Wildlife Discovery Expedition?

This is from an e-mail response to my same question!

The Wildlife Discovery Excursion takes the Kilimanjaro safari experience to the next level. Disney's Animal Kingdom invites you to venture off the beaten path of the Harambe Wildlife Reserve for a unique animal observation and photo excursion. Led by a seasoned Safari Guide and an Animal expert, this adventure takes you off the Safari trail, stopping at special observation and photo areas throughout the 110-acre savannah of the reserve. The tour takes place Tuesday through Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.. Guest meet in front of Mombassa Marketplace 15 minutes prior to the tour. It can accommodate up to 14 guests who must be age 3 and older. Payment is taken at time of booking. There is a 48 hour cancellation policy. Cost is $45 per person inclusive for the remainder of 2008 and $50.00 per person inclusive starting January 1st 2009. You spend about an hour our on the trail slipping between ride vehicles of the Kilimanjaro Safari and stopping to view and photograph the animals. The vehicle is climate controlled. Guest may stand up in the vehicle (there are hand holds all over the vehicle). It is a great chance to get a different perspective on the Kilimanjaro Safari. You may take non concierge guests with you on this experience. Not included with any package.

Wow, cool! Is this for concierge guests only? I see that "you can bring non concierge guests with you", but what if you don't have a concierge room at all?

We are staying at concierge and it seems to imply that if we had others not staying in concierge we could have them come as well. I don't know anything about it except for what I've quoted. This has been around for awhile, as the prices initially mention 2008.

We are staying at AKV-CL in August, too. Our 90 day window opened yesterday and we had our itinerary e-mail by 10:12AM!! So far I'm loving the service. I didn't think the ADR bookings made by the IPO would be that big of a deal but I've been reading here and there that people were on hold for over and hour to make ADRs :scared: The fact that I didn't have to stress over the ADRs and safari reservation is huge. Now I'm looking forward to the lounge :thumbsup2.
