Sunrise Safari at the Animal Kingdom Lodge??

Hi,
I just have a few questions about the Sunrise Safari at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Do you need park admission to do this?
Is there a limit on how many people can do it?
Can you still do it they day you check out? I heard it was held on Thursday and some other day, so if you stay Wednesday night, are you still able to do the tour.

Yes, you do have to have park admission.
Yes, there is a limit to the number of folks. I have always been told to make a reservation asap.
Don't know about the day of check out question, sorry.

When we checked out of concierge on Monday morning at AKL, they told me that our cards to get into the concierge lounge would be good up until midnight of that day. So I would say you could do the safari even if you plan on checking out on Thursday. The other day they run the safari is Sunday.

You can do it on the day of check out, and the other day it is offered is Saturday. Hope this helps.

The safari is for concierge guests at AKL. It cost my family of four about $175.00. They give you a small back lot tour of the animal houses at AK, then you go on the safari ride, but it isn't like the regular ride. They drive slowly and stop as the animals come out onto the savannah. You can take great pictures since the truck is stationary.

AT the end you have a lavish breakfast buffet at Tusker House which alone is worth the price.

Oh my God this was wonderful-we did it 3 weeks ago and everyone was WOW'ed.I believe it costs about $50/pp regardless of age.There were probably about 50 people that went. We met in the Concierge lounge about 7a for a small snack and then headed out about 7:30 to the park.We boarded 2 Safari trucks and traveled the same route as the park ride but were able to stop whenever we saw animals aw: We saw soo many animals up close-The baby rhino was my favorite!! The tour took about an hour and after that we were led into the park int Tusker house Restaurant(closed to the public) for a wonderful buffet breakfast-the chef came out and explained each food and sat and ate with us.After that we were given a FP to ride the safari again and left to go into the park.All in all the total start-to-finish time for the trip was about 3 hours.If you do this on your checkout day you should be able to be back to check out by 11a.
This is a must do if you can swing it-My family wants to do it again next year so now I need to justify to DH the added expense

Chantal, you might want to check out the Backstage Safari tour. It's open to all guests aged 16 and older. It's $65 per person and you do need park admission also. My husband and I went on it last year and really enjoyed it. On our tour, we went behind the scenes at AK and toured the nutrition center, met a rhino, elephants and a giraffe. We also went backstage at Conservation Station where we got to pet an alligator and check out the surgical room. The finale was having a ride through Kilimanjaro on our own vehicle. Our tour guide turned off the Disney storyline of Little Red and instead gave us a more informational tour.
