Sunrise or Sunset Safari?

I've only done the Sunset Safari, but the Sunrise safari is a lot cheaper! For the sunset safari, we were out on the savannah for a little over an hour, and got dinner at Jiko's (including 3 different glasses of wine). I really enjoyed it, but it was pretty costly.

We did both on our April trip and DH and I both agreed we prefer the Sunrise Safari. We enjoy dining at Jiko but we can do that without the safari. Perhaps we will try it again after all the construction is over.

If money wasn't an issue, I'd pick the Sunset Safari any day! It's a much smaller safari, most likely with no kids. They do have a minimum age limit for kids on the sunset and at those prices it doesn't seem many people bring kids - so there's a good chance of an adult experience. Also, dinner at Jiko vs a busy crowded buffet just sounds alot more appealing! And, you don't have to get up before dawn ;-)

The Sunrise Safari is pretty cool, and I booked it again for Thanksgiving morning. It's alot cheaper, but still $110 for 2 adults for breakfast....and it's fairly crowded and lately has had a lot of little kids.

Personally, I vote for the sunset safari...and I am one who takes my kids on it-price is not a deterrent for us. I figure we are at Disney and folks should expect kids almost everywhere, although mine are teens. The drawback of the sunrise is obviously the early wake up time, but all the animals are out and about so its a great time to see them. The sunset you don't have to get up at the crack of dawn, but sometimes there are not as many animals out by that time-but you get a really nice meal. Do what you think will appeal to you and your family the most. ;)

I've done all three and Sunrise safari is our favorite. Sunset is nice, but definitely just for the adults. Sunset is also at AKL and not in AK park. With construction going on I don't know how that affects sunset safari.

If you have children with you do sunrise so they can enjoy it as well. If you have older children or just adults, do the sunset one for the embiance and the meal. We loved both of them, but they are quite different. The sunset is much more personal.

Thanks everyone. I think we will do the surise this stay so DS can participate. I hope in the future we will be able to get a CL room again to do the sunset.

If $$$ allows, you can do both in one stay. They have a kids club on-site your DS can visit while you're on safari. I'm just saying. :rolleyes1

The sunset safari doesn't seem to be affected very much by the construction. I just took the safari a few weeks ago, and although I don't have a safari without the construction to compare it to, only the third savannah is any different, I think. And that's where we saw the baby zebra. Also, it gave me an apportunity to get a pretty good view of how the DVC construction is going.
