I'm trying to figure out the best way of getting our extra food items for breakfasts and snacks in the room. I plan to bring extra suitcases for souvies, so that room is available to bring snacks down. We'd like to eat breakfast in the room - so we'll need some milk. We'd also like to purchase some bottled water - so we can either get that through gardengrocer or mail it from Costco.

From those of you that have been in a similar situation, what did you do? I'm having a hard time justifying spending $52 to get garden grocer to deliver - $40 min order + $12 delivery fee. But at the same time, we'll need milk and it might be nice to have some fresh fruit, etc in the room.

Any input?

I've been asking a similar question...with limited responses. I too, think the delivery prices are high. I am thinking about taking a cab to the nearest Walmart. Not sure about the drive back.....maybe too hard to find a cab.

Never gave the sundries shops a thought. Hope you get responses as I would like this info too.

I think the resort shops are expensive. I have never had trouble getting enough from garden grocer. We order water, juices, milk, breakfast stuff, snacks (they even do alcohol as an added request). I do not know how long you are staying and if you are getting a fridge, but I highly recommend the snacks as well.

I have packed snacks/drinks etc in the suitcase too if I have had room. It was pretty stressful to get it all in there.

Whatever you decide, you will spend a fortune at the resort shops.

We have ALWAYS brought our own snacks and bought things at the resort shops. On our last trip we decided to try Garden Grocer and we LOVED it. We are going to use them on our next trip too. We are frugal people and also didn't like paying the delivery but they were REALLY nice and easy to work with. It was REALLY worth every penny....at least for us.:goodvibes

a cab ride will cost a lot more than the delivery fee. I've used garden grocer four times and love the convienence.

We stayed on property for the first time in March. We did not have a rental car so We ordered from garden grocer. I wish I could remember the price of milk at the food court (that's where they keep 1/2gallons of milk NOT full gallons). We ordered 1/2 gallon milk*, 1/2 gallon of OJ*, case of water, six pack of powerade, pack of juice boxes, and I also ordered fresh fruit. It was VERY convienent to have these items in the room with our 2 year old. I packed a box of cereal, pop tarts, biscotti, and plastic utensils and bowls for breakfasts. Bring a small insulated lunch size cooler with you so when you pack your drinks for the park that day the sweat doesn't soak everything else in your backpack.
***I'm glad we ordered 1/2 gallons because the fridge in our room @ POP was small here are the dimentions 18wide 25 high 22 deep.*** if we had ordered a whole gallon there would have been little room for anything else.

Well, you're not actually paying Garden Grocer $52 to deliver - you're paying them $12 (plus the cost of your food).

As long as you're planning to spend at least $40 for food, I think it's totaly worth it - if you stay a week, amortize that delivery fee over 7 days, and it's less than $2 a day. Totally worth it for convenience. I agree with another poster - it would cost you way more than that for two cab rides.

(We have always used a towncar service in the past, which includes a free stop at a grocery store. We get tons of stuff, like fruit, salsa, chips, cookies, beverages, bottled water, cheese, crackers, cereal, milk. We love it because our breakfasts and snacks are all taken care of. Most resort gift shops are pretty expensive - we're lucky to stay at Shades of Green, which has a gift shop with tons of food choices at very reasonable prices. But most resort gift shops are overpriced.)

The 1/2 gallon is around $3.
