Sundresses ok on rides?

I have a related question, so I hope you don't mind me piggy backing on your thread. I was hoping to wear maxi skirts while I'm there in September, are there any ride that buckle between the legs? That wouldn't work well with a maxi skirt, so I just want to be sure I'm prepared. Thanks!
None that I can think of

Not unless you're really really short and don't reach the indicator on Soarin' (around 48" I think).

I only recently started wearing dresses anywhere--let alone to Disney--but I never had any problems with my dresses and getting on or off rides. Some of my dresses are on the shorter side (they're for Disneybounding and tend to come from "younger" stores), but I still never had a problem.

Only rides you'd have to worry about flashing anyone would be Space Mountain and RnR, the low loading requires a big step. I don't see how Soarin would be a problem, it's essentially sitting in a regular seat and the dividers plus the row layout would prevent anyone from seeing anything anyways.

I do like the Jockey Skimmies, I'm far cooler in those under a skirt/dress than regular shorts, and they're advertised as being able to be worn without underwear though I can't imagine doing that. They also come in different lengths.

I always wear sundresses and done wear shorts under them, just good old underwear. I've never had a problem with chaffing or flashing people that I know of. For the person worrying about wearing tennis shoes, I wear Clarks flip flops, or fishermen type sandals but I wouldn't worry about wearing tennis shoes. Just wear what's comfortable for you.

I love to wear dresses and skirts in the parks. I have the hardest time finding shorts that I feel look good on me (seems they are always too short, too long, too tight in the thighs but falling off my waist, fit on my waist but the legs are too loose, etc.) and find dresses and skirts to just work better for me. Plus, I find them to be cooler than shorts. I have yet to really have a major issue on any ride and that includes multiple trips on Space Mountain, Astro Orbiter, Rock n Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, and others that you might fear would be an issue to due climbing in, flying up, or other issues. I do use extra caution than I would if I was just in jeans, but haven't had an issue yet.

Oh wait, that's not true. There was that time that I was walking to the bus at Epcot and my daughter lost all of her sensibilities and decided to just randomly lift up my skirt. I was embarrassed and she didn't get to go to the park for the rest of the day. Other than that, no issues before or since. ;)

I wear knee-ish length dresses all the time. That's all I wore to Disney our last two trips. No chafing issues, so I don't do the biker shorts for that. Regarding modesty and wearing shorts underneath... No issue for me getting on/off rides. I can't remember any rides that have catastrophically blown my skirt up while seated and buckled into the attraction either. I'm sure wind could blow my skirt up, but honestly that could happen anywhere and I certainly don't worry about wearing bike shorts for modesty at home, so I've never thought to be inclined to do so at Disney.

The shoe issue is a bigger thing because I personally don't like wearing tennis shoes with dresses. I wear either teva-type sandals or ballet flat-type crocs, though a comfy pair of keds-type shoes would look cute, too.

OP here. I agree. I have big feet and wear similar crocs, but I also have slip on Adidas and sketchers ballet type sneakers. LEDs would be cute and you can wear socks.

Wear your sundresses with no shorts. I will be doing the same. And if a "gust of wind" should happen or you flash someone getting on/off a ride, whatever. It is underwear! Who really cares and if someone does then I hope they don't hang out at pools and see people in bathing suits!

Hmm. I wear the dresses to stay cool so bike shorts under would defeat that purpose. I would buy regular shorts if dresses won't work.

I'm a sweaty person, and I'll tell you the "bike" shorts etc don't heat you up. And they allow you to just not worry about how you're getting out of a ride. So it's a win win.

My summer "uniform" is a simple cotton dress. I'm not a shorts gal. Can I wear my "uniform" on the rides? What about Soarin'? Yes, this is a real question. TIA.
CMy daughters 17 and 22 wear dresses 90% of the time. BUT they always wear some kind of shorts under it...I would never let them otherwise

It was comical to see my Mom explain to my nieces why she wasn't wearing any underpants. They had gotten an eyeful and just couldn't get their heads around why she wasn't wearing
If Cottonelle had already started their current ad campaign, your mom could have just said she took the Cottonelle challenge to go commando.
I would think it should be easy to climb in and out of rides without flashing people and the lap bars should prevent your dress from flying up on fast rides.
Eh, not necessarily. The lap bar fastens somewhere in the vicinity of the lap, while a skirt bottom would ideally end farther down than the hips :)

Too funny, my daughter and I never wear skirts or shorts at WDW. DD has refused since she was little because she doesn't want her bare skin to touch the seats. I don't know if it's the hot plastic or the germs she's scared of, LOL We've always worn capris.
