Ok for those that are interested, we did have a DIS meet this past Sunday at the BelleVue Room,
In attendance (in no particular order) were

Maistre Gracey and Mrs.
CarolMN and Mr.
Tamar and Mr.
Magicmommy and Mr.
Magicmommy’s friend (who’s posted but, just a couple of times) and Mr.
and Me - Gtrist4life (solo, spouse and son wanted to swim on one of the only nice sunny days of the trip, can’t blame em.)

It was really fun to put faces with screen names. We stayed for about an hour, discussing DVC and other Disney topics.

I did ask what the first concert everyone went to and the answers ranged from
The Carpenters and The Cowsils to
The Police and Bob Seger,
To Alice Cooper and Ted Nugent
Quite the range of artistic talent there folks, seriously you can tell that the DVC Dis’ers are a group of dedicated vacationers who like to have fun! :dance3:

I also took a picture of the group and if no one has any objections (PM me if you do) will post it later.

My trip report –

Night 1 – DoubleTree Castle – Fun resort, I-Drive is definitely a tourist trap type area, but clean and not extremely tacky. We had a terrible meal at Vito’s Chop House, not recommended.

Day 2 – Sea World – Lots of fun, mild crowds, got to see most of the shows we wanted to before we checked into SSR around 4:45pm. Stayed in a studio in the GrandStand, LOVED THIS LOCATION, and thought the resort was absolutely gorgeous and peaceful!

Day 3 – Thrill rides in the AM with DS, Epcot F&W with DW and DS. Left Epcot early as the guests were having a bit too much festival for our tastes and it was really crowded, went to MGM and as soon as we got off the boat, the rain poured. Really enjoyed the rest of the evening in a mostly empty park

Day 4 – Sleep in, Dis meet at BW, then MNSSHP. Really enjoyed this event and could not believe the amount of candy shoveled into our bags! Lots of fun seeing the guests dressed up and all the characters about in different places.

Day 5 – Check out and hop over to POFQ for beignets, then a bit of Outlet Mall shopping before heading back to reality in Mid-Missouri.

Overall impressions
- Loved SSR it like every other DVC resort we’ve stayed at has it’s own charms and benefits
-Weather was dreary for almost the whole trip, but we still had fun and only got seriously rained on once.
- Due to the declining dollar, we saw lots and lots of guest from the UK and other locations.
- Guest behavior was mixed, seemed like we encountered more rude people in the parks this trip then previous trips. There should be an etiquette manual written/sent when people book vacations. Just the golden rule would work in most instances.
- First time with no sit down reservations and renting a car. Both worked out well (hit Artist Pallette quite a bit and we liked that convenience)

Great trip as always and can’t wait for next June at BWV when we travel with our good friends who are first timers

Peace, G4L

Can't wait to see the pictures! I love doing little DIS/DVC meets like that. That reminds me....I should start planning one for after Thanksgiving!;)

How wonderful you guys got together!! Nice to see cyber connections turning into real live connections.

Didn't see any PMs objecting, so here's the group

Thanks for the report and faces to go with names!

I agree, it was fun to meet everyone! And good that it was early enough that we weren't 3-4 wine seminars into the day!:lmao:

Tamar

Thanks for the quick report - nice to see photos from a DIS meet :)

I'm glad it worked out for you and that you enjoyed your trip so much!

Meeting all of you was one of the highlights of my trip - couldn't believe how quickly the time went by! Thanks for taking and posting the picture, Steve.

Magicmommy - Thanks for arranging / coordinating this. Nice to know there are other Disney nuts out there, isn't it? Your friends belong on the DIS, too - hope you encourage them to post.

Tamar - Great to meet a neighbor. Glad you & your DH were able to make it.

Got to sit at the same table as the Gracey's for the Sweet Sunday event. That was fun! Going to try to make the chocolate dessert at home and maybe the apple crisp. Chef Richard also did s'mores, but there's no way I am going to make my own marshmallows - I don't care how easy he said it was, LOL!

Bobbi - we didn't make it to the 5 pm Village People concert on Saturday. I forgot about the blasted football - why can't those people ever finish a game on time! Makes me crazy!!!!! We did get to the 7 pm concert and when I saw all the people, I realized that there was no way I was ever going to find anyone at an Eat to the Beat concert, anyway. But I am sorry to have missed you. Hope we get another chance sometime in the future.

What a nice trip you had...yes, the F&W was very crowded on Saturday! We did enjoy the early Village People concert and at 7 we three adults were enjoying a delicous meal at Chef de France!

I sure do hope we meet up someday!

I mentioned on another thread that the only notice anyone made of my bobbiwoz Disboard pin was by a CM at the Toontown picture taking place. She wanted to know what it was all about!

I wish I had more time to write, but I just got home late last night. (What an awesome trip!! :thumbsup2 )

Anyway, I really enjoyed meeting all of you. It really did show what a nice bunch of people we have here on the DISboards! :)

Sounds like great fun--thanks for sharing! Every time I read one of these I think to myself that I have to do a DIS meet at some point!

FYI Gang this is Mr Magic Mommy (PECOS BILL). It was great to meet all of you. It really is great to know that we are not alone as Disney Afficianados ;)
Everyones willingness to share information about our favorite vacation destination is what makes these boards so great.
Speaking of information. Magic Mommy bought me the new David Konieg book Reality Land.
So far it's really great. Right now I'm at the beginning where the details of the land purchases are being made and how Roy Disney got to get the state government to establish the districts that would allow Disney to oversee it's own building codes and such.
Some of this I knew but the details presented are more than I did know.
Triva Question....What was the official name of the Contemporary Resort? Who didn't like the official name and had it changed back to the Contemporary Resort Hotel? This I didn't know.
I'll give the answer in a little while.
Later Gang,
PECOS BILL ( the lucky husband of Magic Mommy)
