we just got back from DL DCA :cool1:
had a fantastic trip

just had to say
we rode the sun wheel
and were SCARED OUT OF OUR MINDS

we were on one of those that REALLY went back and forth
we could see that it did it from the ground
but MUCH different than being up in the air
and having NO idea *when* it was going to happen...
one time we REALLY felt like it was going to flip over
(w/ no seatbelts!)

anyone else have a similar ride?

it was so bad
we asked to get off after one go around!!!

You obviously haven't read my multiple previous posts which have all clearly stated that the Sunwheel swinging gondolas are PURE EVIL!!!

Well, now you know. ;)

Did they let you off? My SIL said we were in line for the stationary baskets....hahaha to my discomfort ended up the sliding one...OMG! thought I was going to die!!! And I love a good thrill ride but that was too much for me. That was back in Feb 2001...haven't done it since.:scared1:

nor have you seen mine about it being the ferris wheel from H E double hockey sticks!

I HATE that ride! :scared1: I remember trying to hold on to anything.:scared1: My fingers were grasping onto the grate, my DS was about to cry, but my evil DH loved it and laughed the whole time. I will never get on that thing again!

Its official nickname is "The Sun Wheel of Death". Most people are absolutely terrified by it. It's especially funny how some people can love riding the most gut-busting extreme roller coasters, yet somehow the Sun Wheel reduces them to quivering little pools of mush. Personally, I LOVE the Sun Wheel! :woohoo: The hardest part is getting someone who will ride it with me.

Someone here has a tag that describes the Sun Wheel perfectly..I'm sorry, I can't remember who it is but her tag says
Death.....that's pretty much it
And yup, that would be the swinging gondolas. I refuse to go on them, I would absolutely FREAK out. Luckily my family understands that and won't try to trick me AND I know where the stationary line is...just go down the exit and there's your Huckleberry! LOL In Dec we went with all the kids, DD19, her DBF 19, DD8 and DD11. They all went on a swinging gondola, DBF and I picked a stationary one......they screamed and screamed the whole time, but when we got off they loved it! LOL

I rode it once back in 04 and havent set foot on it since, nor will I ever again. I seriously thought I was going to have a anxiety attack and pass out. I even went to Magic Mountain on the same trip and none of the biggest, baddest, talllest, fastest, scariest coasters compared to the stinkin sun wheel.

I need to know...does anyone LOVE the swinging gondolas?

I'm considering including it on my itinerary on my solo day, but it's my only iffy ride. ;)

Oh for the love of all thats holy to you I beg of you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE dont ride in the swinging gondolas. We all love you to much to see you suffer like that. :flower3:

they scare me too :scared1: and I am one of those who loves to go on the craziest throw me upside down type person....I still love the sun wheel of death, lol

It's awesome! I do wish there were seatbelts though, I would enjoy it more if I had something strapping my butt on the seat!!

Did you see that during the DCA re-theming they're going to turn it into
"Mickey's Fun Wheel"? That's just not right, on so many levels.

Most terrifying ride I've ever been on.

well
good to know i am NOT ALONE, LOL :lmao:

and yes
they DID let us off.

as we were headed back up
we ASKED to get off
and the guy was like, "sorry."

and then the other CMs (on the other side) asked if we were having fun
and i yelled "NO."

and then they backed them up

i am SOOOOOOOO happy they let us off

even my DH who went through Navy Flight School was very uncomfortable (and they tossed him in water and he had to find his way out!!!)

i guess i never really LOOKED at any of the posts on the Sun Wheel OF DEATH (good description)
b/c i didn't want to read TOO MUCH about ANY ONE ride...
i'd done so much planning in every other aspect
i wanted to not know what each ride was like (except which ones get you wet)

i guess i should have included
are there any rides that i might *hit myself???

LOL
except
not.

is there a link on how to UPLOAD pictures?
i tried and it didn't work...
i was trying to "hotlink" from my mac account though...
do i need to use photo-bucket or the like???

The Sunwheel is death. Seriously.

Our first time riding it (can you believe we did it twice in one trip? Don't ask me why), we were waiting in line and we (DBF and I) both wanted to go on the swinging ones, when we got to the front, a little girl, who had to been about 5 or 6, gets off the swinging one and just PUKES everywhere.. Her Mom yells, the CM's eyes get huge and his mouth drops to the ground, and everyone in line goes.. "EWWWW!!". Poor thing was crying. After I saw that, I became a little scared. The whole trip around I was screaming.. It was terrifying. DBF didn't like it either. And he's a BIG thrill guy. No way.

I have never been on it..

i tried the ferris wheel at any fair and that scares me. So as soon as i see this one at DCA i quickly avoid it lol

I tried it and said I would never go again :scared: . However, I have changed my mind. I want to go on it again. :headache:

The first time I was on it by myself, I think that's why I didn't like it. It is probably the scariest ride I have ever been on:scared1: but I wanna go again ... I know  lady. I too am just looking for someone to go on it with me! I wanna try it once more to see if I really want to swear it off forever. :upsidedow
