Ok, now I am obsessed with this! I have even dreamt about it! But it terrifies me! I really want to give it a go but I am very scared. Could you please describe exactly what it is like - good and bad! I went on the howabunga thingy one at Typhoon Lagoon (survived that ok but cant say I really enjoyed it - more exilharating) so I am not completely chicken! Would love to hear your experiences.

I've been on it several times, including 2x in both June and October, and I get butterflies every...single...time. Humonga Cowabunga is NOTHING compared to SP, IMO. You are definitely in a controlled free-fall, and it actually kinda hurts when you hit the bottom water and start slowing down.

In October, we stayed overnight in Jacksonville, drove straight to BB at 10:30am (it was dead), and rode SP first. I got up to 58mph on one ride.

It's a freaking rush. I definitely recommend it.

Terrifying. Both DH and are ride junkies and neither of us will ever do it again. DH calls it the enema slide. When he hit the bottom runway to slow down, the watewr literally shoots up your butt. When he stood up, about 2 cups of water "fell out"!

:rotfl2:
My first time on SP, my whole body actually raised off the slide then slammed back down, it kinda hurt, after that I couldn't get in the lying down position again and ended up going down it half laying, half sitting. My back was pretty red from the slam down. Needless to say I went right back on it. Great ride, could hurt a little if you don't stay in the proper position. I see a lot of red backs getting off the bottom, so I guess I'm not the only one that gets slammed around on that!

You see more then red backs after that ride..

Folks come off that missing all sorts of parts to their bathing suits.

There is a reason why the young boys hang around the bottom..

They like to see the bikini tops go flying off

My boyfriend and I went on Summitt Plummit two or three times this past August, and loved it. I am slightly afraid of heights, but do enjoy that exhiliarating feeling you get going down. I kept seeing kids that were 8, 9, and 10 going down (I'm 22) and figured if they can do it, so can I! I kept my eyes closed, held on to my swimsuit top (no casualties there thank god!), and had a blast! One thing for guys and a girls alike to keep in mind is that if you have stuff in your pockets they will come flying out!

DH dragged me on this one a few years ago. I must say, being a person who is afraid of heights, I can't believe I actually did it. When you finally get up there--after climbing and climbing--and getting more and more scared, you really have NO choice but to take the fast way down. Peer pressure doesn't help either! Let me just say, the scariest thing is that when you lay down you can't even see what you are actually laying on. It is just soooo steep, and all the stories you hear about losing/rearranged articles of clothing are true. :scared1: Keep a close eye on that swimsuit. :scared1:

My brother and DH LOVE it, but I have not gone on again. Once was enough for me!

SP is by far the scariest thing i have ever done......but I LOVE IT !

I did it with my DS(7) this year,he is fearless but i was soooo nervous for him but he just did it then ran whooping and yelling......he then had to wait for me cos i sat down then got back up and let folk go in front 3 times.:rotfl2: ..but i did it and i will do it every time i go cos its such a rush......but the Water wedgie is a killer !!!

So here's how I did it:
Get to BB at park opening, get your locker, but come dressed. Take the chairlift up (it's still empty then), and walk up to the platform.

There was NO ONE in line when I went, so I didn't even have time to think about how high up I was. Just sat down, crossed my legs so tightly (that's how you keep the enema from happening!), and crossed my arms equally as tight over my top.

I went 54 MPH, apparently. But I did it.

I'll never do it again, but I will never back down from trying anything at least once, either (Ok, except food - there's some weird stuff out there).

More power to you all!!! :lmao:
I am a coaster junkie but I am scared to death of SP
I wait down the bottom while my DH goes on
and yes, tons of red backs getting off that thing

Once you take the chair left, if you do happen to chicken out
You can always take the Slusher Gusher (giant family size tube) to go down
It's right next to SP

They basically have the same angle of descent but Summit Plummet is higher. However WetnWild has 2 slides,Der Stuka which is the same thing as Summit Plummet but shorter and Bomb Bay which is the same exact slide as DerStuka but you basically stand in a bomb type capsule right over the slide and the lifeguard presses a button which opens the floor and you just fall.In my opinion this is a tad scarier than Summit Plummet!!

My wife lost her top.

It is very scary scooting your butt up to the edge of the slide. It seems like you are just scooting off a table....

She covered herself and ran and got it. The lifeguard laughed. My wife asked if it happened often and the lifeguard said yes.

It was a cool day so it wasn't crowded, but the guys' got a pleasant view! :rotfl:

I am so sad to admit this.... but I chickened out! :sad2: We were there for AM EMH and I walked up to the top. The CM sitting there was reading a magazine - I was hoping he'd at least smile at my nervousness or say something encouraging or reassuring, but no such luck. I backed out. The thing I couldn't wrap my mind around was how I would NOT fly out of the slide area and just plummet onto the cement. I'm plus-sized, so I also worried about how my weight would impact the fall (no pun intended). I'm so sad that I didn't do it, but I was so afraid I'd die! And it was SOoooooooooooooooooooooooo high!

Any others who are bigger people who have done it? Any tips on how that whole experience of falling without falling out of the slide's path goes?

I am telling you, that ride is scarier than anything
I will do any roller coaster, but don't even think you could pay me to
do that one :sad2:

For my money, this is the scariest ride at WDW. The view from the top is also the best view at WDW.

Just make sure your swimsuit has no buckles or zips on it--it'll scratch the flume and bruise your rear end. Also try not to wear a swimsuit that's too loose, either, or it will fill up with water and ride you.

Expect your legs to hurt a little right afterward. The force of the water is a lot greater than most riders expect, and some get scared by that.

The sides of the slide are quite high so I don't think there is any worry about going out of the slide's path. I remember a 30ish guy a couple people ahead of me that so scared he was just shaking but went down anyway. The CM was in the middle of explaining how to fold your arms and cross your feet and he just dropped. The CM just said "Bye". I really enjoyed the slide but boy it sure looks like a long way down from the top.
