My DW is turning thirty this year and she insists on NO party!! I was going to surprise her and take her to WDW. The only thing is her birthday is in August. My question is: How is the heat in August? Is it so bad that you can't enjoy WDW? Any info will be greatly apprecitated.
Thanks

I enjoy going to WDW in August. Yes, it is very hot and humid but as long as you are patient and understand you can't do anything about the heat it's great! I prefer going from August 15th onward...not as busy! Your wife will enjoy it! And all of the buildings are air conditioned so you will be fine!

It is going to be very hot, but any trip to Disney is fun! I didn't feel like it was any hotter than Michigan this past summer. Remember to take breaks and drink lots of water.

Every time I have gone to WDW it has been in the summer, mostly late July/Early August. It is a great time no matter how hot, and plus, you enjoy the pool more, and the air conditioning feels great, so take little detours while your in the parks, and walk through the buildings that are on the path. I have never been during the winter, nor do I have plan to, personally, I think the summer time is a great time to go. :cool1:

It is hot and humid, but very doable. This year will be our third August in a row. What makes it nice is if you go at the end of the month it seems to be less crowded. Good luck.

Exact same for us! Going on our third late August/early Sept. trip. I don't do well in the heat, but - and this is the God's honest truth - your body adjusts in a day or two, and you just learn to sweat with the best of them! LOL! I love it. DH also feels it's a more "Florida" vacation, then going in Jan. like we used to.

Come on down with us! Last year it was nothing but a sea of Red Sox tee shirts and ball caps!

We went at the end of last Aug. It was unbelievably hot and humid. I spent everyday with my hair up b/c there was no point in trying to do anything else with it. We went the last week in Aug and we never waited for a single ride. It was great!

It is very hot and humid in August. But the parks are less crowded, especially the last two weeks of August. That's when we go.

Just plan for the heat. Florida is hot most of the year. In fact, August is just a few degrees warmer than May and June. Nevertheless, if you tour all day, the heat will take its toll. The good thing about August is it is less crowded but the parks are still open late. So we always tour the parks in the morning, go back to our resort around 1 or 2 to rest and swim, and then return at night for dinner and a couple of attractions or a closing show. We usually stay about two weeks and during that span, we typically limit our afternoon tourning (between 1 and 5) to two days. Some afternoons are necessary to see the parades.

Any way, August is a great time of year, IMO.

Hey Mr.Disney,
My family and I always go in August (8/23-9/01 this year). Yes it is hot in August to answer your question but you will have a fabulous time. Since it's still summer the parks are open longer hours, some times until 11:00 pm. If you are staying on site, go back to your resort after lunch and chill at the pool during the hottest part of the day. We shower, refresh and head to another park for the evening with plenty of time to do the rides. Also late August the line wait time drops considerably for the summer. (I can take the heat, I hate waiting in line for an hour  ) Also there are a lot of places to run into that are air conditioned for a break, for example at MK you can dip into the hall of presidents and refresh. Pirates of the Caribbean is usually cooler. I think the Mickeys Philamonic has air (if I remember correctly)

Go for it & happy B-Day to your daughter pixiedust:

we did it-it wasnt as bad as i thought
i was really nervous about the heat but you can always hang out at
your resort and anytime in WDW is better than being home
