Summer's Planning Journal 08/20 Update 08/10/07

Okay please ignore the dress, I have foud my sash, but my one will be in black and added to my dress, I think it looks gorgeous, and I like how it is a firmer satin, rather than being floppy, like the other sash I posted, plus I absolutely love the crystal design. Notice how it would flow in line with the dress I have bought, do you think it's destiny, I certainly do, WOO HOO!!! What do you guys think? Oooh, I'm so excited, I've found it, I've found it:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Yes I do think the sash will go. I agree with you about the line between the corset and skirt. I really don't like those too much either. If you use the sash it will make your dress flow better. I aslo agree with Orangetiggs about the mending of the sash to the dress. It will be stunning, and I can't wait to see pics of it. :goodvibes

On the topic of Blue Man vs. Cirque. Wow that is a tough one. I too saw Blue Man in Vegas at it is absolutely brilliant. Having seen both I would choose Blue Man over Cirque (and that says alot b/c I am the biggest fan of Cirque). Seeing that you haven't seen Cirque before you might want to lean that way if you do choose to see a show. For me it would be a really tough decision. Good luck with that, and I am interested in what you choose to do.

Wow like the new sash. I don't think you have any decision on how it will look. You are ecstatic about it. :goodvibes

Thanks orangetiggs for that wonderful suggestion:goodvibes I didn't even look at the other dresses I posted, having it stop at the corset is a brilliant idea.

PrincessBride07 - Thanks, I too think it will look gorgeous with that sash. Luckily my bridal salon stocks Allure dresses, meaning they will likely have a catalogue for me to see the pic close up. I really love the detail on the sash, but I can't seem to find where I can order the catalogue. I would love a close up of the crystal design.
As for the shows, we both loved Blue Man Group and the tickets are only about $45 each, compared to good seats at Cirque $90, we haven't decided yet for definate, but I did get my way with Discovery Cove and that has taken us well over budget, not to mention the spa treatments on the cruise that my DF doesn't know about yet.....:rotfl:

I have finally sent off my planning worksheet to Tanis today.

This is what I have submitted:

My theme is Black, white and the contrasting color of yellow!

calla_Yellow.jpg

I have asked for a white and yellow calla lily bouquet with Swarovski hidden mickey crystals in them. I have asked that the stems be tied in black satin ribbon so it will match my sash.
Steven and my mother are having matching yellow calla lily boutennieres. My mother didn't want a corsage:confused3
I am having a commemorative white calla lily on a single chair in memory of my dad.
I have ordered the white satin purse with the hidden mickey crystals on them.
I have ordered the bottom layer of our cake in Marble and Buttercream mousse and the top layer is Almond and Amaretto mousse. I like this cake that I found so I am going to send it into whoever I get to organise my cake. I am not upgrading to custom, but I am hoping to add some black satin ribbon and some yellow colored icing flowers to the cake:

The songs we have picked are as follows:
Trumpet Voluntary - Processional
Canon In D - Bridal Party
When You Wish Upon a Star - Bride
God Bless This Broken Road - Unity Candle
The Four Seasons Spring - Recessional

We have asked that a CD player be provided so we can have our first dance. We have chosen From This Moment On by Shania Twain, the lyrics are perfect:love:

I have also asked Tanis if the Unity Candle that is on the Wish book is the only one that they provide. I'm sorry but $200 is way above budget, I can purchase my own for much less than this.

Although I have still not seen any pictures from Randy of Wedding Pictures at night, I think I may still ask him to come back. I just love his style and I think if I don't ask him to come back I'll end up regretting it. I would love to have some pictures in my Wedding dress at night and I think the GF marina would be beautiful at night, esp if we could get some firework shots.

As you can all see I am ecstatic with my choice of sash, but I probably won't get it put on until June. I wish I had a close up of the crystal design on the sash though, it's really difficult to see exactly what the design is! If I can't figure it out, I may ask if the dressmaker has any suggestions.

I'm partial to dresses with sashes! ;) That's the whole reason behind picking my own dress! :thumbsup2 Excellent choice! Will you get a broach, or a pin to wear on it?

I really don't know what I'll put on it, do you have any recommendations? This is the first time I will have worn a dress with a sash and I don't know what to wear with it. Do you think that is a pin in the picture? I thought it was crystals sewn on to it, I could be wrong though:confused3
I was hoping to have something fairytale with crystals sewn on to the sash, obviously to go with the whole DFTW.
If there are any clips could you let me know of a site that does these?

For the gown, I will likely buy online from the States

you'll be getting married at the same place as me and same time.. only 16 days later! woo! and we'll both have randy chapman do our photos.

anyway, what I really wanted to say is.. ordering a gown online kinda scares me, but maybe I'll do it that way too.. I dunno.. I"ve only gone to one bridal gown shop and tried on dresses and I hated the whole process! I hated having a girl dress me and being in there in my underwear and uh..just the whole thing. maybe online ordering would be better. good luck!:wizard:

Oh, I'm not sure if it's a pin on the sash in the photo or not...but maybe you could contact the company that you ordered it from and ask them. I would think that if you had to tie the bow around your waist it would be hard to have something sewn to it. But, maybe it comes with the pin? My sash didn't come with a pin. Mine was just a giant ribbon that ties around the waist. But, I did buy a broach at an antique store...a 1950's costume jewelry pin that I thought was funky and fun! :cutie: But I didn't end up using it on my wedding day because I thought I may have had too much jewerly on. :)
Sorry that I don't have any websites for you to get broaches. But maybe you've got some antique stores near you?

I would choose Blue Man Group over Cirque as well, but only if it's a new show. I looked at the preview at Universal Studios' web site and it looks identical to the one in Las Vegas. I think it would lose its charm if you knew about all the surprises and things they do in the show.

You can't buy a Blue Man Group show DVD, but you can buy a La Nouba DVD or many of the Cirque shows. I've also seen it on TV at least twice. It's not the same as seeing it live, but at least you have that option with La Nouba.

Okay, I am now on the subject of wedding rings.

I have found two sets that I absolutely love and am struggling to choose between, so I need your help again. We decided that the ring I have at the moment was only temporary as I didn't know what style of Wedding ring I wanted. So I have found two bridal sets that I love.

Here are some pics, with some different angles. I would love your opinions:

15335_2b.jpg

and....

15701_1b.jpg
15701_3b.jpg

With the 2nd one, I'm not too sure about the sides of the rings, whereas I love the sides on the 1st one. They are both 14k White gold and 1.75ct stone, so that is making no difference to me. I love Princess cut stones. If you notice the first set has a divide between the stones, whereas the 2nd one doesn't and I can't decide if I like this or not. I want sparkle, which one do you think would sparkle more? Bear in mind I cannot try these on as we are buying from the States. Oh, decisions....:confused3

Here is the wedding ring I would love him to have, but I doubt he'll go for it as I think he probably will go for a plain white gold ring:

Moonpie - I am having a dressmaker make the sash for me, I cannot buy the sash complete seperately. So I guess it is up to me if I want something sewn on to it or not. I am having the sash sewn on to the dress as the back of my dress has satin tyings, as it's a corset and I don't want to cover it up with my sash. So the sash will stop at the back, leaving the corset ties completely free;)

I have finally made all my ADR's, bar one. I was only allowed to make DTD ones at exactly 180 days out. So I called yesterday and made ADR's for Wolfgang Puck's Cafe twice as the menu looks so good and Raglan Road. I was intending to make one for Planet Hollywood, but was only offered 5.00pm or 10.30pm and I don't like either so have left it blank at the moment, I am about to start looking endlessly through menus again as I can't stand the thought of leaving an ADR space blank:eek:

Now as for Randy Chapman coming back to do some night photographs, I think we may just take the plunge and do it. I love every pic I have seen on peoples sigs that have been taken at night. I am still to see examples from Randy, but I have seen his day pics and they are enough to convince me he would do a wonderful job.

I'm still really struggling with a Unity Candle arrangement. I am not willing to pay $200 for this, it seems very expensive. I have asked Tanis if they have any other arrangements but she is yet to answer this question. I saw an absolutely beautiful Unity Candle (Disney themed) but I cannot get it shipped to the UK, I'm so disappointed:sad2: Here it is:

gmm1.jpg

I really loved it as it doesn't actually burn the candle so you can reuse it. Its gorgeous!
I think I may just make my own set and take it with me, it will work out much cheaper and I can decorate it to suit my theme.

My vote is for the first ring set. I like the sides better too. The sides on the second ring doesn't seem to flow to well. It just kinda stops. Whereas the first set, though it too kinda stops, the breaks in between the other diamonds makes it fit better. I don't know if that makes any sense or not.
I love that candle too. Have you ever asked some of the Dis Brides to hold something for you. I am sure that there is someone (of course a person you trust) that would be willing to have the item shipped to them and deliver it to you in Orlando. If I was still in Orlando, or knew that I would be there at the time of your wedding; I would do it for you. Just a thought.

I love the first set of rings too
We are alos getting ours in orlando when we are there in oct, you can get so much more diamonds for your money out there than here

I love that candle its so nice

i think the first set of rings too.

I preferred set #2 until I looked closely at the sides. Are those Ms? I'm not crazy about the mix of the princess and round diamonds in set #1 or the bars, but it's such a personal decision. I had a tennis bracelet that had the "bars" in between the stones like that and at first I liked it, but after awhile it really bothered me for some reason. Make sure you're getting what you love because you'll have it forever  The only way to get real sparkle like you're looking for is to get high quality diamonds. What are the stats on the diamonds in those sets?

Is there any way to get the Unity Candle shipped to your EM at Disney? I have no idea if they do this but it's a shame that you found one you want and it won't ship to the UK :sad2:

BTW Wolfgang Puck's is amazing - you'll love it! You're not missing out with Planet Hollywood. The last 2 times I went there I was very disappointed in the food and the service and I won't go back. I recommend House of Blues in DTD - really good food!

The stats on the diamonds are: I-J in color, and VS2-SI1 in clarity .

'Difficult to find under 10X magnification, impossible to see inclusions with the naked eye'
'Diamonds ranging from D to F in color have virtually no color tone and are the most valuable. Diamonds in the range of G to J are almost colorless and most people cannot detect color tones in them'

I think it is M's on the side band. Weird huh? Apparently the center diamond is 3.5mmx3.5mm, is it just me or is that small? It seems small on a ruler:lmao:

I wouldn't pay $200 for a unity candle arrangement either. Actually, I thought the price had gone up to $225 + tax? That's what it said in my planning kit.

I talked to Disney Floral and the lady said you don't need the arrangement to make it look nice. You can lay a few roses on the table and/or spread some rose petals around. You can do that on your own or buy them from Disney Floral. I did some research and it's about 5x cheaper to buy them myself. Since you're honouring your father with a flower, you can lay that on the table too. Your planner should also provide some stands and a cover for the candles so they don't fall over or blow out (since you're at Sea Breeze Point).

I like the hidden mickeys in the Disney unity candle for $65, but I went to the craft store last weekend to buy some glass beads (one size for his head, one size for the ears) to see if I can make my own candle and save some money. If not, then I'll pay the $65 and let Disney Floral take care of the details.

I'm also voting for #1 as it is very similar to my set. Difference with mine tho is the the diamonds are channel set and you cannot see bars between - makes for quite a fantastic sparkle when the ER & WB are together. Also, because I'm canadian, we chose very good quality Canadian Diamonds (maple leaf & ID laser etched onto the diamond), VS1 & D.

We designed our rings and had them made. Might be worth looking at to blend the good points from each ring. We used a company called Goldfinger. They came to our house each time and I think they were very reasonable in price.
