My son wants to study abroad this summer. He is looking into a summer program on Kingston on the Thames. If anyone has any information that would help us about the area, costs of dining. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

Kingston upon Thames is my nearest large town.

Being 50 I don't really know much about the student scene (my own son wanted to be further away from home when he chose his own university place.)

It's a large, mostly affluent town. Lots of shops and reastaurants including Pizza Hut, TGI Fridays and Tony Romas. He'd probably get a cheaper meal in one of the store restaurants like BHS - but obviously these will be lunch rather than dinner venues.

Here are some links to UK menus

At BHS I would expect to pay less than £10 for a meal.

There are also lots of take aways around which would again give him a decent meal for around or under £10.

Here is the official Kingston website that might give you more info

It's less than 30 minutes by train to central London. Kingston station is very near the town centre but parts of the university are closer to Surbiton station which has excellent links to London.
