We love this salad!!!!! I have to admit that the first time I saw it I wasn't very interested (thought wow what a strange combination) but it is a very good salad!!!!! My dad loves it and requests it all the time.
Broccoli-Orange Salad
4 cups broccoli florets, (about 1 1/2 pounds fresh broccoli)
1 small purple onion, thinly sliced and separated into rings
½ cup raisins
½ cup pecan pieces, toasted
¼ cup sugar
¾ cup mayonnaise or salad dressing
½ tablespoon white or red wine vinegar
1 11 oz. can mandarin oranges, drained
Combine first 4 ingredients in a bowl; set aside
Combine mayonnaise, sugar, and vinegar; add to broccoli mixture, stirring to coat. Gently stir in mandarin oranges.
Cover and refrigerate at least 3 hours.
Yield: 6 servings
