Rock on through the summer Super Goofs!! :rockband::music::beach:

Well boo hiss! I checked the offical posted results online for my 10k (versus the ones that were printed in the race area) and they now show my time as 51:16. So I lost 24 seconds. Still--it's a PR, and when I look at the race predictor calculators out there, it is not far off the equivalent to the 5k I ran (with more training).

Today I swim. We'll see if I make it out the door for that. First, though, grocery shopping. I'm off!

Yay for a new monthly thread! Of course, training in Alabama, where the humidity was 96% at 6:30 this morning -- and that was actually LOW for us -- I'd have to say summer does something other than "ROCKS." (Here's a hint: my word also ends in "CKS.") :lmao:

I was only supposed to do 4 miles today, but temps were only in the high-60s when I started (nice AND unusual for us), so I felt pretty good and ended up going over 5 miles instead. I've only logged two runs this week and two runs last week, so I really need to step up my weeknight maintenance runs. Should be easier once we settle into a new routine now that school is out and baseball/softball are done. The good news about all those unplanned rest days: my IT band didn't act up ONCE on my run today. :cool1:

Maura, WTG on your PR! You're so speedy! Sorry the posted results didn't match the ones online, though. What the heck is up with that? :confused3

Now that I'm a "real" runner -- and now that I have to train through the summer months -- I guess it's time to shop for good (but hopefully not too pricey) running sunglasses. Any recommendations?

:stitch: 'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:

I know you're all ea-GEAR to share your knowledge about your favorite clothing, training aids and technical toys, so this week's prompt posted here on the 'Ohana thread is:

Beyond the basics, what's your favorite/most-useful/most loved gear?

Of course, feel free to talk about your favorite shoes, socks, tech shirts or sports bras or other necessities. But I think we'd all like to know about that special something(s) that you've added to your "must have" for training, racing days, or just plain pleasure. For some of you, maybe it's your Garmin. Other, a special brand of sunscreen or a specific brand of water belt? Still others, a strategy for taping your legs and feet or a a favorite tracking website?

Please share your special finds with the rest of us. :thumbsup2

Good morning Goofs. I got 4 solid miles in yesterday before the garage sale started. Thank goodness or it would have been a LONG day!! I sold all my big stuff except for a computer table and the rest was mostly kids books that will be donated. Now I have to clean the basement...

I will be updating the spreadsheet shortly and posting the totals in the first post as per my orders. If everyone could be updated by midweek, that would be awesome (like I know you all are!!).

Have a super day everyone!!! :goodvibes

Morning, all. Got in 50 minutes on the bike this a.m. Will definitely be an interesting day now that we are filing for bankruptcy.

Had a chance to drive the new Camaro for the weekend. Fun car, although I think I am past the point in my life where I would want a manual transmission for an everyday vehicle.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Maura

Sorry, I just got my last 3 days of May in today....so the totals are different. I put them in at work, so I just added them. Sorry Lisa!

Beth

Good morning Goofs, I just updated the spreadsheet for my May totals.

I'm really looking forward to training in June now that everything is getting back to normal here. I have a half marathon next month so I need to get my long runs back up to help me prepare.

I only have one race this month so far which is almost a 10K - 6.1-miles...now why can't they move it out another .11 miles? :confused3

Have a great week!

-steve

Sorry Lisa. I just added my May totals, too. We just got back in from WDW last night and I got 11 more miles in while on vacation. :goodvibes

got in 6.2 miles in 60 minutes or so...relatively pain free.

Gotta like that!

Have a good day Goofs...I'm off to waste another day toiling for a place that has no loyalty or appreciation for the dedicated efforts of its employees...

:woohoo:

But we still love you Mike!!

No more apologies for posting May miles, K. I just have to get this thing up and running so no one complains on me for not posting our miles. See, some of the people participating actually still consider this a competition not an effort at wellness. Me, I see it as good friends and good times!! Just keep working out and post the miles when you can. I check the spreadsheet off and on and will update the May miles as we go. You know, keep everyone guessing and on their toes...

So, I forgot to tell you all that last week on my run, I came across a moose trying to get into a pasture of cows. It was kind of funny as I thought there was a cow out so I decided to go herd it in and as I got closer I realized that it was not a cow at all. I ran back to the farm and got 2 of the hands to come out in their truck and honk the horn to scare it away. Yes I kept running where the moose had gone in and did an out and back. No, I am not right...it has been proven over and over again!! :goodvibes

Did my Monday 5K yesterday and I am able to maintain an under 30 minute time with no pressure. I am considering driving to Portland to do a 5K on Father's Day just to see how I do with pressure. :scared: Since I have nothing else planned for races, I need to motivate myself somehow.

Gym today and I should be back to taking the girls starting Thursday. I kind of miss them and their eye rolling, smack talking cuteness. They make me laugh. I have not done enough of that lately!!

Got my hour run in this morning and survived! Have a good day my fellow Goofs! :grouphug:

Hey Goofs,
Finally updated the spreadsheet for the other half of May. Still haven't run today, though I will do an easy 3-4 miles tonight.

Happy June goofs! I'll be heading to the Grand Canyon on Friday!!! Woohoo!

Hello Goofs!! No long walk for me today. I had to take my car in to have the hood repainted this morning. Rental car was waiting for me. I was hoping for a Ford Mustang!! I got a Ford alright, a Ford Focus. Its an OK car, if you have one I'm sure you love it, I'm just very used to my Corolla. Hope to have it back in 2 days.

Spent 2 hours out in the blazing sun mowing, edging, pruning trees and fixing/cleaning our back patio. We are having it screened in next week!!

Hope everyone is having a great week, 12 days till my vacation!!! :cool1:

Happy National Running Day, Goofs! If you haven't already seen it, ironz has a thread where we can all log our running/walking miles for today. She's challenged all WISH members, regardless of team affiliations, to rack up 500 miles today. Are y'all in?

I contributed my 3 miles before work this morning and celebrated by soaking in the Y's whirlpool after my post-run shower. (ahh...) I'm not normally a morning runner during the week, but that whirlpool could serve as a nice carrot to get me out of bed earlier every now and again.

Morning Goofs!!

Megan: Have a great vacation!

Suzanne: The Mustang in Nashville was fun. I got my fix and moved on. I really appreciate my Jetta and the 50 MPG that it gets. I am sure you would have felt the same about the Mustang compared to the Corolla. Did I mention it was fun though??? :goodvibes

Everyone else: :yay:

As for me, no run yesterday. I went into the hospital to work. A rareity for me but possibly a daily thing in the not so distant future. I got offered the lead position. Now I need to decide if the extra 8 hours a week and headaches that come with the increased responsibility are worth it. It will be a HUGE change for my family until I can get back home again (6 months to a year) so I have a lot to think about. Running and thinking this afternoon. That usually works for me. The running part, not the thinking part. DD14 had her last middle school softball game last night. She hit a triple and the team was up 13-3 so she sat the rest of the game. On to summer softball season. Better level of play and way more fun to watch.

Wish me luck in making the proper decision today....popcorn::

Lisa Good luck with your work decision. I hope the benefits outweigh the additional work/stress that come along with them. I'm at the point now where I would be happy going in the other direction! Less is more!

Liz I don't think I ever answered your tri question..... I am aiming for the Island Lake triathlon on June 21. I haven't signed up yet, partly out of fear, I think. I can't remember where your tri is--would it be in Naperville? If so, a woman in my gym has done that one before (and just dropped out of doing it this year.)

Did a bike/run workout today. 30 minutes bike (7.5 miles), 10 minute run (1.25), 5 minutes stretching.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Maura
