Summer photo fun: scavenger hunt, or what?

Will you offer up a 2013 icon? I'm not that skilled!! And we'll miss having yet another 'trophy' to add to our siggies. :lmao:
I will ask DD to give it a whirl. I always had a friend do them for me, lol. We'll work on it.

And you're selling yourself short, pea-n-me. I think it's been a case of fewer people on this subforum. Lately, we've had a few more semi-regulars.
That could be part of it. But it seemed like the enthusiasm dwindled, too. You, of course, were the queen of the chase! I am still amazed at some of the things you came up with! :lmao:

I was just trying to learn to use my camera. Your hunts gave me a great excuse!

The scav hunt list is up.

Now....what do we do about setting up a weekly assignment? Do we want one or do we wait a couple of months?

Hoping that some of the scavhunt regulars or lurkers alike are still out and about.

Okay folks.

We've finished the summer scav hunt. I'm wondering what next? Do we want to do something?

There's still the 30-day photoskill challenge below to consider.....should we start up a series of "What I'm Focussed On" on a monthly basis?

It means that we need to be committed to getting out there to work on each skill and post something......

Thoughts??

Collating some of the ideas above:

Alphabet challenge - Post a picture to represent every letter of the Alphabet

Where I live challenge - Post pictures representing your area

30-day Photography skills challenge

Also including one for us to expand on our use of equipment; maybe on a weekly or monthly thing to begin with?
My camera function challenge
  • ISO
  • Aperture
  • Shutter speed
  • Shooting mode - manual, shutter speed priority, aperture priority, full auto mode, program mode
  • Focus mode - One Shot / AF-S, AI Servo / AF-C, AI Focus / AF-A
  • Metering mode - Evaluative / Matrix / Pattern / Mutli-zone Metering Modes
  • White balance - Auto, Daylight, Shade, Cloudy, Tungsten, Fluorescent etc.
  • HDR
  • phonography
  • Filter effects
  • Tripod shots

What do you all think?

Happy to collate a list of scavenger hunt items as well; if you want to throw some out there.....

Unfortunately, due to my lack of having a car...or friends (in Mobile), I'm out of places to shoot around here :(. As such, it's a bit difficult for me to just "go out shooting".

This is the very reason I have never taken part in one, despite following them on a lurk style basis. There were always just too many categories I knew I would never be able to get to. That said, I have loved following the rest of you guys on your photo scavenges :thumbsup2

Some really good ideas up here. Hoping I will be able to take part in whatever you go with next :)

I'm not really good at specific camera details. I also take a P&S with me a lot of times because I don't like to take my good cameras when I am traveling alone. My DH and son are both in law enforcement in my city and like to get me paranoid about what evil lurks in the shadows.

I would love another hunt of some sort though. I do agree that we have dwindled in numbers but I really do enjoy the opportunity to participate. Princess and Pea-n-me thank you for getting these together. Any help needed let me know. I'd b happy to help come up with something for the winter hunt.

I love having a challenge or hunt to do from here! This fall has been crazy for me and photography had to take a back seat for a little while, but I think I'm on the mend and getting out a little more. I'd love to have have something on here, but I also understand how much effort goes into the planning of it.

If there's something on here, I'm in! :thumbsup2

I'll admit to being a scatter-minded lurker.... No trip, no Boards :guilty:
I had a great time doing the summer 2012 Scavenger hunt, even if I never did manage to get all my pix up to peruse.

I'd love to have a reason to pick up the camera again, and to actually get out and use it.
I used to shoot a lot, but the developing costs were getting out of hand :lmao:
I'd really like to get back into discovering what my little P&S can do.

Count me in for whatever you come up with - I may not make all the challenges, but I can try - and learn trying :thumbsup2
