Summer Nightastic ?

I apologize if this is already on here and I am asking again. Can someone tell me exactly what Summer Nightastic is? I am looking for a place to read about it. We are going to DW this summer and I would like to see what will be happening when we are there.

A quick summary is :

- Main Street Electrical Parade replaces Spectromagic
- New fireworks replaces Wishes
- New 'tag' at the end of Illuminations at Epcot

And a bunch of other stuff.. but since this isn't really a resorts topic, I'm going to move this question over to the ThemeParks Board. You'll get the best response there.

I am really excited to see the Mainstreet Electric Parade. I saw it many years ago when I was just a little guy. I very much remember being all excited to see the dragon, then being scared to death of it when it finally came . I can't wait to see the updated version, and share it with my kids.

I am so geeked out about the Summer Nightastic offerings. I can't wait to see MSEP. I can't wait to ride ToT with the new effects and altered drop patterns. Mostly though, I can't wait to see the new fireworks. I love fireworks and if this new show is indeed more or less the same one that they did during the Pirates and Princess Parties, O M G!

I have NEVER wanted to go to WDW during the summer. I hate being hot. I hate to sweat. But, for these little changes, I will go with a big ole' on my face. Today we cancelled our December plans to instead go in August for our anniversary. I already planned out the itinerary and secured the ADR's today. It's going to be a great laid back summertime trip. I can't wait!

So as far as the calendar goes, nights that currently list SpectroMagic in June, July & August will be MSEP, right? We want to see it, just making sure that our planning is correct.

DH and I were talking this morning about if the summer discounts and new shows will bring more people in or not. I think it will BIGTIME. DH he doesn't think it will that much. He thinks the crowds will be the same as we experianced in July last year... we are going in August

There have been no changes to any off the official Disney calendars yet. Summer Nightastic dates have not been officially announced yet either. I have seen speculation that it will begin in early/mid-June and won't end until the end of August or the end of September. It all depends on what unofficial sites that you read.

The nightime parade swap is supposed to be a swap for all nights during the promotion. It's my understanding that SpectoMagic is going to be getting a rehab and some updates, maybe some plussing and will return at the very latest by next October for MK's 40th birthday.

I love Wishes. It's wonderful and no trip to WDW seems really complete without it, but from the standpoint of watching pixie dusted pyro that kicks buns, the new show, is going to blow Wishes away. From what I hear, Wishes will be back, it's just taking a summer break.

Big crowd changes, that I am not so sure of, but attempting to keep the levels equal to last year, it will probably help. Harry Potter is the new kid on the block and will be grabbing lots of potential guests for Universal.

Personally, I did make a change due to the announcement. We were going to stay for 8 nights at AKL in December, but changed to 7 nights at the Poly in early August for our anniversary. So, there are some of us that have taken the bait.

I'm so glad that they have finally put a different firework show on in the Magic Kingdom. This is my 5th year in a row to disney and as much as i love wishes, i'm really looking forward to seeing something different. So excited!!!

I sure hope the predictions are wrong about the tentative starting date. I have never experienced the new fireworks show and have not seen the electrical parade since we took our SD(19) to DW when she was 5. We leave May 31 for one week.
In saying that, I will be more than happy to see fireworks and spectro too! I will be at DISNEY! YEH!

We were so excited about the parade that we booked another trip. Yes, I truly believe we are crazy, but we just left Feb. 7, then going back in June and again in December!! We have that whole year pin, so it worked out great for us.

Then again, the announcement came AFTER we left, so we couldn't upgrade to an AP, which means we'll be buying tickets for 3 trips this year We are doing a GAD event for all 4 of us, so that will save SOMETHING!

I hope we have the same schedule as last year - parade at 9, fireworks at 10 and another parade at 11 (we're going week of June 20). We'll be there every night to see that parade, since it's the reason we're going!

allearsnet has it listed as starting june 12th..we'll miss the beginning of it, too. after a dozen trips of it all being the same, I was really looking forward to seeing some new stuff!

Unless they revised it since yesterday, those were the days they had the summer nightastic at DISNEYLAND last year.

I too am hoping for firm dates soon!
